Di Matteo is looking to send this lad down to the Championshio, definitely worth taking a look at. I've watched him play several times for Chelsea's youth team, and he's always stood out as the most talented player they have. I think with the football Zola plans to play, he's a perfect fit. He's a quick, strong central defender that can play in midfield, very much in the Ledley King mold
From the Daily Mirror: "Watford want Chelsea defender Nathaniel Chalobah on loan for the new season." Possibly Mariappa's replacement?
Isn't Zola friends with Di Matteo too? Was sure I read that somewhere... Another manager with Chelsea links would be good. Well, assuming we get Jack Corks and not Liam Bridcutts...
Link: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/watford-boss-gianfranco-zola-wants-1144528 "Chelsea whizzkid Nathaniel Chalobah is wanted on loan by ambitious Watford in a new twist in his whirlwind career. Defender Chalboah returned from an impressive run of games with England’s under-19 team in the Euro finals to jet off with Roberto Di Matteo's squad to America. But the Hornets boss Gianfranco Zola has asked to take the 17-year-old sensation for the whole of the campaign and give him first-team experience. Chalobah is shaping up as the best English defender of his age group and the chance to play in the Championship at his tender age is being approved by Chelsea’s heirarchy. The centre-back is likely to be cleared to move to Watford in time for the big kick-off but is expected to appear in cameo roles during the United States trip. Watford are also interested in veteran keeper Carlo Cudicini, but Spurs are happy to hold on to him as cover for Brad Friedel - although that may be reviewed later on. Zola likes Cudicini and could yet use his influence to get him, but Chalobah is set to be the first face from Stamford Bridge through the door at Vicarage Road."
Yes, Zola and Di Matteo are good friends. This guy is very decent..and scores a lot of goals too for a central defender..but would the Pozzos want us to loan somebody else's young player for a year, therefore with no re-sale value?
I've been told AVB wants Lloris and Butland. Both Friedel and Cudicini will be shown the door. I think it's fair to say that if they get Lloris, Carlos spurs career will be finished. I'd love to see him!
They did say in an interview that they would be happy to sign young English players I think so I don't see that being an issue, would be a good signing in my opinion.
Would be good signing, not only would we get a good player, but also establish a relationship with Chelsea
He's been touted as a future England captain, and from what I've seen of him he looks every bit the part. He's an excellent passer, so would fit very well into our new ethos.
Chalobah joins on loan http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/2906386/title/chalobah-loaned-to-watford
Why do we need a 17 yearold when we have plenty of experieced centrebacks already? What the f^ck is going on?
Errr, but he didn't when he first started playing with us! If the lad is good enough, no reason why he can't start
Oh my goda. wos point in chranspher dedline day fred if ders gonna be a new fred for ne sining or sail. I felt well gud dat id jus broken da store and den my dreams were schaterd. FFS.:dismay::doom:
I'd say there's a huge difference between a young attack minded player stepping up at such a young age than a defender.
