The one thing I love about this club during the Pozzo era is that despite the seemingly never ending tsunami of mindless punts and dross, they still regularly pull a left field banger out of nowhere.

 

Last time I looked they owed £534m (sorry it's second highest behind Chelsea), so assuming that £125m being used to clear the debt and not re-invested then Levy would have a riot on his hands. They want to challenge and not replacing their talisman and top striker is not really the way to go.

They'll get revenue from the European campaign, TV revenue, higher placing in the PL and if they qualify for the CL then that'll exceed £125m.

Disappointed about Hughes but if everyone is fit our midfield is definitely an upgrade on last season.

He still starts most games for France so is clearly still rated by Deschamps.

 

I absolutely detest the word banter, but in fairness to the club, giving Sissoko Hughes’s number is nothing other than tier one banter from them. Fair play.

Really pleased with this signing. So much experience. Played in a CL final and the Euros and over 70 appearances for one of the powerhouses of world football.

As @a19tgg rightly says, this transfer window has consisted of endless false rumours and blind alleys and heated discussions on here about the merits or otherwise of many many players we get linked with...only for the club to then suddenly announce Sissoko, King, Louza , Rose and Dennis with either no or virtually little warning.

One decent central defensive recruit now and I’d go so far as to say it’s been our best window under the Pozzos.

Nearly all our new recruits who’ve played so far have shown early promise. Even Fletcher, probably the one we had the most doubts about, has won us a cup tie.
