I f**king hate it when you do posts like these, as I agree with them. Doesn't feel right agreeing with you. ;)

My parents let me have my own car (as I paid for it) but wouldn't physically let me out the house until I'd done a fair bit of motorway driving with my dad in the passenger seat. They even removed my radio. P*ssed me off at the time, but looking back at it was a wise decision on there behalf.

It's not woth bothering with a car until you hit 25.

If you total up how much it's going to cost in insurance, tax, MOT, servicing, petrol, crash repairs it's far cheaper to get cabs.

The independence is great but your "mates" without their own transport will take the pi$$.

Best bet is to get the odd month of temporary insurance when required on your parents cars.

I disagree, but then I'm car mad so I see it as a worthwhile expense, and I probably pay out more on cars than nearly everyone else in this topic combined!

More so living in Tring, I'd be lost without a car. Public transport here is useless.

C2 is going! Got a very good offer from a tuning company to take it on as a demo car and continue the project. I shall probably replace it with another C2 which will serve it's original purpose, a cheap daily runner. Failing this (which I will) it will be a show car.

That's pretty cool SB - what's your normal profession - do you work with cars for a living or what? Is this a regular occurence in motor-anorak circles?

Not really a regular occurance and I work in Finance haha. Just developed a good knowledge of cars over time of working on them through leisure.

Someone I know spent £60,000 on a 10 year old Peugeot 106 GTi over the period of 10 years... he this summer just gone sold it for £25,000 to a studio to be used as a prop. It's been in several music videos and is going to be in a couple of films this year.

Pictures here: Not to everyones taste, but incredible amount of work

As you say - not to everyones taste - but it is obvious to see the work and process that must have gone into making a 106 look like that. Very nice.

Been so busy at work I've found a car to buy, provisionally bought it providing I'm satisfied with it's state.

Another C2, this time it's a limited edition Code, comes with tanned leather interior, unique paintwork and limited edition detailing inside, gives me a good base theme to start a show car. Will be fairly nippy, only a baby 16V 1.6 though.

    Well lads.

I'm getting rid of the Pug, to get a more efficient, er, diesel. It has to be small engined tho :)

Anyone got opinions on Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 SXi CDTi? Around 2004-06 models.

    Cheers

Souless cars, mate had one and ended up selling it within four months.

In his words, "In every way it is better than my Fiesta ZS, better on fuel, even pulls better, but it's just... got nothing about it"

Cheers Sven. Yeah they look a bit plain and boring alright. Don't think that'd bother me getting it though tbh. Did your mate have any other problems with it?

Didn't have it long enough to encounter any tbh.

Go on Corsa D OC, and ask for advice there, they'll be bias towards Corsas but you may find some useless info out.

Ended up purchasing a Toyota Yaris as a first car, wasn't affected by the recall either.

Sold my car today for €1,750. Alright considering I bought it for €1,400.

Looking at getting an 03 1.3 CDTi Corsa next week, or, over the weekend

Anyone selling an Alfa Romeo Brera? I was looking at an RX8 but I don't think I can be bothered with the amount of oil it needs or that fact it only does 24 mpg.

    Been a while.

Was meant to have college last night but it was cancelled so I went to the garage to do some finishing touches and get the car ready for show season and race season.

I'm also doing my MSA Competition license this afternoon.

Need to get some custom bolts fabricated to secure the bumpers which will be £150 :)eek:) and get it cleaned up inside and I'm done.

The engine has not long come back from SCS to have it's final work done to it, it's now good for 650BHP and 800ft/lbs of torque and that's restricted!

MOT on Saturday so might even take it up to Coventry on the Sunday, in case anyone sees me

  30. nascot

Why would you bother with 650 BHP in that? You won't be able to use anything near that, presuming it does produce 650...

  31. Prentice

    Prentice Administrator

    Says who?

    There's a Fiesta with 800+....

The S2000 hill climbing Fiesta has 1050bhp.. and if you've heard of Ken Block, he's just had a 900bhp Fiesta created for his promotional use in videos..

I won't bore you with the huge amount of detail, but I managed to get the C2 to put down a lot of power before it was rammed.

It's been weighted on each corner for perfect distribution, the turrets and chassis have been re-welded and strongplated to the roll cage for strength... it's got a Quailfe LSD specially produced to put the power down with not a lot of torque steer...

    Nice, Sven.

I like this sort of stuff. I'm a parts & service guys for Nissan Motors North America. One of my stores has a large clientele of tuners, and another that caters to those who race GTR's.

Having been to England, it is hard for me to imagine what you can do with a high output car...do you track run it? Or is it just for show? Or do you challenge the bobbies Dukes of Hazzard style, replete with banjoes and jumps freezing in midair whilst a narrator explains what kind of a pickle you are in?

  34. Prentice

I track it and take it to shows, and I'm completing my last MSA License (to legally race) next weekend. I also occasionally find some nice country B roads to have fun on on Sunday afternoons when they're empty ;) Next time you're in the UK I'll specially put a passenger seat in to give you a ride.

I also do it for the sheer fun and challenge of getting so much power out of a small Ford.

I had a Skyline R32 GTR Twin Turbo, I much prefer the old skylines to the new ones (including the latest GTR). I've considered getting another one soon, because it was a lot of fun and had so much presence it was unbelievable.

Cheers, Sven. I should tell you I get extremely motion sick. I have photos that will really turn you off of letting me ride in your car.

Yeah the old ones are pretty sweet. The current model is a monster, but it is a bit soulless, if you know what I mean. Are they sold in Britain or do you have to import it yourself?
