BBQ sauce contains a lot of tomato though, so it still counts. And I love pineapple on pizza. My god, okay I'm actually going to have to go out and get a Hawaii Pizza now.
Basically they liked him for what he did for Napoli and that he's a no nonsense character. I'd equate it to Zola for us.
Gone quiet on this in terms of new info? I am wondering if this is press talk with him being UK based and Italian, and journos putting 2 and 2 together. It really does sound like swapping like for like. If the guy is unwilling to invest in the resources available to him, no matter what tactics he uses, then he presents possibly the same issues. I trust Gino to do the right thing, and to put it right if it does not work out.
Watford or Quique? I remember the press conference, and Quique seemed to say it defensively. If Duxberry has said it, then that is different.
Mmm-interesting point-What about Oscar Garcia-we did have enough faith to appoint him albeit in Championship and now he is managing again in austria-i think his team just won the austrian title
I think it's a done deal. My only problem is the 'hire and fire' mentality will put off good coaches coming here. I'll be honest, I knew of Mazzarri from his Napoli days and I thought they were a good team, especially when they destroyed Chelsea in the CL. However, putting that in context that AVB was in charge of Chelsea. I remember Napoli under Donadoni and they were awful, so Mazzarri was brought in to arrest the slide and shore up the defence. That was his specialty according to one of the posts...keeping teams up - but he reached his peak. They improved again under Benitez, however this last season under Sarri - they have been amazing - best team to watch in Italy by a country mile just by attacking all the time and that's hard for me to say as a Juventus fan - even though we ran a way with it in the end after a poor start. If Watford could have got Sarri...wow...he's like Zola with a plan B.
For what it's worth, I'm not sure he's ready yet for the PL. He has talent, but he's very inconsistent and gives the ball away more than Jurado. Obviously that is expected for someone who takes risks, but he pressure might be a little too much at this stage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Penaranda said to the Granada twitter account himself that he will stay at Granada next season if they stay up.
but then someone else commented on that, suggesting he was just saying the right thing for the fans, no?
Saw this on WD Sport "This from Italian football expert James Richardson who, you will remember, presented Channel 4's cult show Football Italia. He clearly knows his onions when it comes to passing comment on Walter Mazzarri. "He was abject at Inter," he said on The Guardian Football Weekly Podcast. "He blamed everyone but himself, continually got the formation wrong, played completely uninspiring football and the fans didn't miss him at all. I would be astonished if that is who Pozzo was going for. I would be truly worried if I was a Watford fan."
Richardson is a mug, I stopped listening a while back because they spend 90% of their time just ignoring Watford and the other 10% criticising them They were having a pop at us all of last year for changing manager, so shows what they know
Stats: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/inter-milan/mitarbeiterhistorie/verein/46 Avg. points per match for Inter in 58 matches with Mazzarri as coach: 1.66 Avg. points per match for Inter in 76 matches with Mancini in his second spell as coach: 1.66 By the way, Inter's fans are quite spoiled and still live in memories of Mourinho's triple-win, and they're not very happy for Inter's playing this year too. In season 13/14, when Mancini subbed Mazzarri at the helm, (http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/inter-milan/startseite/verein/46?saison_id=2014): Mazzarri 17 matches, avg 1.76 points per match. Mancini 35 matches, avg 1.43 points per match. Maybe Mazzarri will NOT be next WFC's coach, and I'm certainly not his designate defender, but facts seem to be different from opinions in this case.
Yes, I made my big post just at the right moment to cause myself maximum embarrassment! Just to risk further embarrassment later on, I get the feeling that this is more of a Beppe type signing (consolidation) than a Slav (stepping up) signing. Given the reputation, it seems to be a bit of a 'Quique with balls' thing, doing what was wanted from Quique, but including a little more positivity. I am hoping there will be more inclusion of the whole squad, and a more proactive approach to winning games. Not so sure he will be the man to take us into Europe in 2017-18. Perhaps that will be Sarri.
How did Sampdoria fans feel about him. The second season seemed to tail off after a decent first season .
