Abdi and Gradel can play in a similar position and have a goalscoring threat from an attacking midfield position, I never said they offer the same attributes. Watford need to have lots of different threats and options going forward. We could be left with a diminished attacking midfield threat without Abdi I have every right to be critical of our prospective squad as I want Watford to maximise their potential in the premier league. Bournemouth are looking in better nick with Gradel than without Gradel - thats my point.
I don't understand how Gradel has become the best player in the world all of a sudden? He signed for Bournemouth, big deal. I don't see how that makes them a better team than us all of a sudden?
Berghuis is also quick and probably a much better player which is my point ... He's been earmarked to eventually take over from Robben in the Netherland's squad, doesn't that tell you something?
I'll believe it when I see it . Gradel may not even have been a regular starter but he would have offered a threat as an impact sub in a lot of games - too late now.
Firstly, why? He's overweight and massively overated. Secondly I'm sure I read that they'd made 8 signings so that'd be 9... But they've kept the balance and we haven't cos we signed one more player than them?
Is he? I know Leicester agreed a fee but Inler doesn't want to join them. And as for Lee Tomlin?? Go ahead Bournemouth, you have him. Overrated (overweight) tosh. With a huge attitude problem apparently. Bournemouth will end up with pretty much a new starting 11 and because they've signed a few British players it'll be fine. Watford are ****ed though.
Its what most premier league clubs do now im afraid - this isn't championship football anymore - there needs to be options for rotation and impact substitutes
Why do people just post unsubstantiated stuff like this, without a source to back it up, like it's fact. As I've said before, some people use this forum as their primary source of information about Watford. It's unhelpful. By the way, no he isn't. He wants to join Fiorentina. http://www.football-italia.net/70541/inler-rejects-leicester
To be honest, I think they've bought well now (Bournemouth). We know they had a pretty good team to begin with and they have strengthened with quality. I'll stick to my prediction that Leicester, Sunderland and Norwich will go down.
I also think Muff have bought okay considering they don't have an international scouting network or contacts They will stay up as will we Lesta, Sunderland plus 1 to drop
We are still favourites for the drop with bookmakers. I'd add Swansea to your list. They've done so well with pretty average players but must be about time for their run to come to an end. Maybe west ham too.
I can as an outside bet. See below their team from last game last season. Average. plus they are only 2 places above the bottom three as I type... Swansea City 01 Fabianski 26 Naughton 33 Fernandez 27 Bartley 29 Richards 24 Cork 07 Britton (Grimes - 70' ) 12 Dyer (Barrow - 64' ) 11 Emnes 20 Montero (Gorre - 84' ) 18 Gomis
I think Bournemouth have signed Championship level players, Mings barely that, and a few foreign buys. Which, as everyone keeps telling us, are risky in case they don't adapt.
Having watched Gradel a few times last season, I wouldn't class pinpoint passes or dictating the tempo as any of his top 10 "pro's". He's a winger or a poor striker, nowhere near good enough to play midfield. Likewise Abdi wouldn't make a great winger either imo. No idea what you're on about.
If he's any good in the Prem we can just snap him up at the end of the season. I'm sure he's made sure there's a relegation release clause in his contract.
By all means put the money on. But only put on what you can afford to lose. Because you WILL lose it.
Exactly right. They should avoid relegation but it's not nailed on IMO. They've been over-achieving & you can only keep that up for so long.
Hold on a minute, posting their team from the last day of last season is an insane straw man! That's nowhere near their first XI, as well we all know, and they are a well run club with a manager who has by now shown himself to be one of the more promising in Europe and solid experience recovering from and replacing big players when they depart. They've just signed Andre Ayew for ****'s sake, and let's not forget, they were essentially trying to avoid the possibility of getting into Europe at the end of last season; something that goes a fair way to explaining that team sheet. Rather hypocritical of us to go around complaining about how the media misrepresent us and misunderstand our project and then propagating that bull-**** about a club in a similar position. Edit - and yes Nnnn, i appreciate you didn't post the original comment.
Regarding Swansea, I saw an article where it they claimed Swansea had run above expectation on key stats last season (eg goals per shots on goal/worldie saves etc) On that basis it was suggested that without Bony they may be further down that people think if their stats conversion reverts to mean. I think they'll be fine personally, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are in the 14th/15th zone as opposed to top half.
And I can't have Monk as one of the "most promising managers in Europe" after one decent season in upper mid table!
Ok I accept that team was weakened, no siggurdson, routledge, shelvey - fair point. However I still think they will be bottom half and haven't really been put under pressure since promotion. Well run club but they are my outside bet to be involved at the bottom along with Norwich, Bmuff, Leicester, Vanilla, sunderland, WBA, possibly west ham, and realistically possibly us. If Norwich don't strengthen, they seem 100% guaranteed to slip back down.
