Interesting that they've leaked this one to the press, rather than just announce it. Wonder if we'll get a steady stream of leaks before a large announcement on one day.
Good start, and almost certainly points to a new formation. You don't buy a developed winger and then convert him into a wing back at 31.
Probably waiting until monday to formally announce it. The club are usually very good at waiting until things are done until an announcement is made, so I doubt they'd have leaked it. Perhaps his agent or something has.

As Dyer's apparently been released it probably won't apply but I think transfers between English clubs can be made directly after the final competitive fixture of the season. Nothing should be announced before being ratified by the clubs respective leagues.
As a Leicester fan, I'm of the opinion that Dyer is an effective player as long as he retains his pace. I have no doubt that he looks after himself physically so there's no reason why he can't be useful for another year or two but it's more a matter of when rather than if at this stage of his career his speed deserts him. Overall a good player for a championship side, not sure I'd be completely satisfied with him starting in a team with strong ambitions of promotion but not a bad signing nonetheless. Good luck for next year!
If it's true we are changing formation, we will need 2 or 3 wingers. I suspect he is coming as a squad player, that plus his experience with 442 and championship and makes it a sensible move for all concerned, whilst the Pozzo scouting network sets to work over the next year or two hunting out the future players we need for the role. Good for him, good for us, good for whatever young wingers Udinese send us when they find them.
He lost his place in the starting eleven after Riyad Mahrez was brought in and was largely used as a substitute after that point. Don't get me wrong, on a good day he'll give any right back a hard time but he has his limitations.
''Great signing my brudda Llyod dyer knows the league inside out and can play as well'' Deeney said this on twitter, maybe I'm looking into it but surely it suggests he's staying, I doubt he'd comment if he knew he was off.
Great signing. How anyone can criticise this signing without knowing our formation for next season and which players are likely to leave - therefore leaving vacancies - is beyond me. I personally think we will be playing 442 next season. In which case, an instant vacancy arises with Riera going to Udinese (to my knowledge this is the latest report we have). And don't forget, how many games last season did we have four defenders on the bench with nobody to bring on? The point being here is we now have another fine attacking player. Leicester probably didn't want to give someone more than a one year contract as like most clubs who go up will struggle and therefore invest in the squad over Christmas. No club will give someone a lengthy contract if they know there's a possibility by Christmas he will no longer be part of Pearson's plans. Great signing.
Obviously why he refused a contract to stay at yours. He must want to keep playing (and winning) and you can't argue with that.
I agree, and not only that but now he's guaranteed three years of a decent championship contract as opposed to one.
The last 2nd string winger of yours we took helped get us promotion, others will argue but I guess it's a good omen!
Thanks for that Chris. It seems our resident Leicester fan has let the whole forum down by not commenting on this thread. Probably too gutted.
No worries. Im a season ticket holder and have been for some years so I know that Lloyd Dyer has far more good games than bad. Im disappointed we're not keeping him to be fair but at 31 I cant blame the club for only offering him a 1 year deal. On his day he can terrorise defenders but even when things don't go well for him, you'll not get too many that work as hard as he does
Home grown, experienced, attacking, quick, was a nailed on starter in this years title winning team... And some people aren't too impressed ! I sometimes wonder what our fans expect, this is a great move, I'd be more worried about giving that Street lamp Ranegie a 3 year deal... Crumbs I recon if we signed Ronaldo someone would pipe up and say he has nt got any friggin Championship experience lol we were nearly dead 2 years ago !
Even if we get one good season out of him that (hopefully) gets us promoted then its good business. Does this symbolise a switch to 4 4 2 or even 4 3 3 or is he being signed as a wingback? Either way the thought of Dyer on one side, Anya on the other should enable us to improve our away form by reverting back to the counter attacking system of GFZ. And who knows stick Vydra in that mix and thats arguably the 3 fastest players in the league all running at you.
Well despite the fact that neither club has confirmed it as far as I can tell..... Lloyd is one of my all time favourite Leicester players. Dedicated, hardworking, always in peak physical fitness. He takes great care of himself and I can't recall a time other than for a month this winter when he's been sidelined through injury. This makes me believe he won't lose his pace anytime soon, and a three year deal is a pretty safe bet despite his age. He is not a gifted footballer, he runs out of ideas quickly when matched by a fullback but he never stops probing. He can be wasteful in front of goal but scores big goals, striking the ball in such an awkward fashion that you can't help but love him. His final ball is generally pretty poor, although he does cut a lot of balls back to the edge of the box because he's rarely played with a striker that feeds off crosses in his time with us. In 6 years he's improved massively and is now a perfectly competent Championship player. I like him very much, but I feel the club has outgrown him somewhat hence the offer of only a year in the new deal. He deserves a go at the Prem but probably couldn't cut it. So in summary; Intelligent and creative? Not really. Technically gifted? Not especially. Although he has a very close touch and zips passes around the box. Fast? Extremely. A great big heart? Absolutely. He's always come across as a lovely bloke and good influence on his teammates.
By the way, Lloyd Dyer cannot play as a wingback. I've seen Pearson try it, and it wasn't pretty. He protects his fullback well when he plays as a winger, but you generally want Lloyd running towards the other team's goal.
The only time he has ever kicked a football with his right foot and it won an entire league. He's magical.
