Jobr banned?

Why has he been banned ?

 

This thread took less than 5 minutes to appear. I was giving it 10!

There are many reasons, most I will keep private. The number one reason, (apart from the fact he was baiting the mods at EVERY opportunity), was that this forum was setup directly because people were afraid to post on the officials. The very same thing was beginning to happen here, (I know because of the alarming rate of reported posts, PM's and e-mails me and the mods were getting), and I will simply not tolerate any form of intimidation on OUR forums. Plus me and the mods might actually get some time to improve this place, something we haven't been able to do for a while due to all the complaints pouring in about his posts/comments/languge, and walking on eggshells day after day.

There were more reasons besides.

The ban is for one month but will be extended if there's any abuse of it.

It would appear that my overused comment of a clean slate was much stated by Jon, but never put into practice.

 

Jobr has just tried to register with another username. I've now turned off all new registrations and the ban is at 2 months.

Personally enjoyed his posts although i can understand where some wouldn't.

There were times when he made valid points, i'll give him that, but it is impossible to be effective at doing the job if you are constantly defending yourself against people and having to sort out problem posts/PMs.
Its not a nice thing to have to ban someone but needs must and there was a real need there im afraid.
I apologise if anyone feels i have bitten too much the last few days but i am not only a mod but also a user of the boards and was getting a little tired of my every word being scrutinised and castrated as if it was a comment from a mod and not a user.

 

Jobr did abuse me, but 2 months!! well he did try coming back on

when i was banned all i did was just sit back with my ban and just come on as a guest

 

To be honest i think 2 months is a little harsh.

I fail to see how a first time ban can warrant 2 months yet Arthur who consistently posted tripe and pretty much NEVER posted anything constructive (jobr did) is likely to be banned for a shorter amount of time.

To be fair he wasnt given as many chances as jobr.
Like i said before, i grant you he did post some good posts but unfortunately you havent had to shoulder the brunt of his abuse in the last few days.

Yep, good call Keiran! Can't really comment on why Jon was banned as haven't really had time to read every single message but 2 months does seem a little extreme to me!

This place won't be as lively anymore, shame because it's a good message board with good debate (far better than fishal boards), i just hope it doesn't go the same way as the fishal boards with silly banning orders etc.

 

jobr will not be banned for 2 months admin will give in its what always happened. On the old board he would get banned then kick up a fuss, and then his banned is stopped, i bet he will only be a month at most. i would like to say well done to admin for taking this step, and I dont think its harsh. he is always on here 24/7 I'm sure he will miss this place alot, i almost feel sorry for him, but it might give him time to think. long live the board.

 

At the same time fair play to the admin and mods for not treating him differently just because its jobr and hes quite a regular on here and does the prediction league.

 

I appreciate the honest comments on this. Gives me a chance to explain a little.

When I asked them all, the mods said a weeks ban would suffice in this case, but when I read all the comments Jon made today I wanted to ban him for life. To be honest I can't see him returning anyway. We're d4mn lucky to have 4 thoroughly decent people who support Watford the same as the rest of us and want to be a part of this forum community like the rest of us suffering vicious abuse constantly, all because I asked them to help me run the forum and make it a nice place to hang out. One of them dares to utter a word back to Jon and it's dissected, turned around and flung back in their face with total and utter venom. The one time I did publicly turn on Jon he told me to keep it in private from then on, which I did. Shame he couldn't.

The rest stays in private, but even Arthur Daley didn't get as many chances as Jon has had recently. My PM limit is 200 as admin. Reports about Jon alone have almost filled my PM inbox since Christmas.

Arthur is a pussycat in comparison, and his ban will end Saturday after we had a little chat. I look forward to Arthurs return.

Rookery 'Orn ban 1 week, served one week.
Arthur Daley ban 1 week, served nearly 3 now I think due to fake usernames, (he's back Saturday)!

If the team decide the ban ends then it ends, no matter what's posted here to push us into a statement

Quite the opposite IMO. In time this place will be much livlier and friendlier than it has been in the last few weeks.

We didn't run the officials, but if we had they would still be there IMO.

 

Again i will say... i agree he can come out with good posts but there are issues he seems to have with anyone in authority and this is a fun place for everyone in it.... i for one dont come on here and mod here to be constantly criticised and undermined by anyone... if i make a mistake i will more often than not admit that and have on a few occassions but i will not tolerate constantly being goaded into and argument and then have someone try to make me look foolish on the boards when i defend myself.
I came out with a TIC comment last night and if i had been anyone other than a mod he would have had his say, i would have pointed out what i meant and that would have been an end to it, however it has continued all night last night and all evening this evening with constant digs at anything that ANY of the mods do with regards to personal posts (look around the boards)... All of the mods are first and foremost members of the boards in the same way as anyone else, and secondly moderators, unfortunately he couldnt see past the moderator bit and was continuously digging to get a reaction to try to make people look stupid.
I have bitten my tongue a lot lately but enough is enough and i wont tolerate anyone calling me a liar or trying to make themselves out to be better than me just to look big. (that isnt to say that i am better than anyone else of course )
If that makes me a bad person then so be it!

Blimey, did jobr forget to take his medication today? He seems to have turned pretty nasty this afternoon.

He is very entertaining and a big contributor but he really does seem to have a problem with moderators, real or imaginary. It's a shame for him really.
