Not true we don't have the money? Or specifically the bit about not going for him is untrue? (Hopefully both, not convinced by Hause).
Stephens will be fine for us, possibly even pretty good actually. Of course he is limited at PL level, but the gap between the Champ and the PL is enormous, we equalled the league's greatest ever defence 2 years ago and have so far conceded 1 in 3 games against top 6 sides Yet again, it just doesn't seem the best use of our limited funds compared to other areas of the squad however Hope he proves us all wrong though
The money bit. This is Gino we are talking about so no doubt if he were interested in Greaves, he’d try and get him on loan or something silly. But there’s money to spend on this CB. But I’m sure we will be doing things cheap if we can.
I have to disagree. We will not reach agreement on this issue. I feel Watford have far more pressing debts to pay off before the purchase of players. The fee for Stephens seems to be between £2m - £7m. Not worthwhile in IMO.
Not the best use of funds considering we need a right wing back more (and probably a midfielder, even though we have Louza and TDB to come back), but I wouldn't mind a RCB as Stephens is probably better than Kabasele and WTE is possibly leaving
Apparently he has signed. Loyalty, leadership, passion and fight. All wonderful qualities in any player, which we found overflowing in Jack. Through ups and downs, his spirit never wavered, his determination ever true. Thank you @jackstephens_18, all the best at Watford! #SaintsFC
That’s just a random tweet from a Southampton fan. It does seem like they have heard something on their end but wouldn’t put too much stock in that tweet.
What part of RS2's post about 7mil just being him taking the mick don't you understand?! (Though even 2mil still seems unnecessarily excessive for him and us though)
Think he is just relying on this source: https://twitter.com/saintrob__/status/1559106308573462528?s=21&t=t0lujticipQDPzwuqLfizQ
5 year deal on a 28 year old is madness. He'll probably get an extension in a couple of years once his legs have gone!
"I think Jack Stephens has been a very loyal servant and I wish him all the best. He will thrive at Watford as he has always been a consistency player and improved more the more he played. Will definitely miss his shiiithousery which is second to none" We have definitely been lacking in the shiithousery dept.
We should be looking at bringing in a CB who is young with potential to develop to a high level. Our recruiting model is woeful. All you need as Brentford are proving is someone to crunch numbers and a very large amount to identify traits, skills of potential targets and match them to development curves in the database. It would be squandering money. We make money on some players and then waste it all on long term contracts and players not up to it or with real upside aside from South America and their sales just get wasted instead of coherently and logically building a team. A club of our size and budget cannot afford to be so wasteful and the model we are using and people are clearly not up to scratch. Now we bring someone in whose record at Doncaster is hardly inspiring.
I've been in Barcelona on a stag do for the duration of this rumour, so only just caught up. Seems shyt to me, and as classic Ponzo Dog Doo Dah Band defensive transfer chumpery as ever. Nothing I can do, even if that's true, though. Hope it doesn't happen and we get someone I'd prefer/isn't known for being shyt already amongst his current fans. Who would that be? Who knows. Also, are we at the stage yet where we can start posting Duxbury's boasts about having a definite single centre back target who was our number once choice and why we weren't going for Ballard under anything the official account posts, or is he about to be gloriously vindicated?
Obv by this I mean Greaves, but I saw him being referred to as JG and my mind automatically wandered in a very wannky way, apparently.
