Probably correct, West Ham accelerated things last week. Was hoping they wouldn't need him and Lingard. I'd rather keep Dennis of the two but losing both would be a real blow.
When posting Twitter rumours people should mention the credentials of the person posting. I have literally no idea if that is the head football writer of The Times are a random teenager.
Pretty sure the latter, but he did happen to break Sarr coming here in the first place a few years ago. Followed since and he's posted quite a lot that ended up true.
Scenes after the solemn twitter talk of "dominos" when Sarr deal goes through and Pozzo just brings in a free agent journeyman Manaj type to plug the gap.
Ismaela Sarr deserves to be named HERO OF WATFORD, many years with his team, full of constant work to get here with these brilliant results. Congratulations to that great player and the team. Blessings to all of them.
If we get the right cash (20/25m) then we’d be selling a depreciating asset who doesn’t fit the system for good money. Unfortunately there’s no guarantee any of it will be reinvested although for all those who were concerned that we are facing a financial apocalypse that might be appropriate. Hopefully we keep Dennis (who I think would get 20+ at this level) and stump up for an impressive young homegrown midfield though obviously I won’t be holding my breath on either. But if a Sarr fee did allow us to keep Dennis, bring in a homegrown midfielder for £5-10m and put us on a more solid financial footing then that seems pretty worthwhile to me.
Would be sad if it’s true, but not surprised. Could be good for the club in the long run if we reinvest the money wisely, such as by constructing artificial lakes in and around the training ground.
If selling Sarr means we can get a HG midfielder and loan Archer, we're definitely in a better position for it.
If Dennis stays, do you think we still need Archer? Personally I don’t. Of course the risk is we plan for life with Dennis, let Archer go elsewhere and are then stuck without a high profile HG striker to target in the last days of the window.
Well yes I agree. I am just having a dig at the numerous goons on twitter who are expecting significant reinforcements, while still trying to frantically defend Pozzo that this will only happen when Sarr is sold. I agree selling Sarr is a necessity and I think a £5-£10 midfielder plus keeping Dennis is unlikely. Pozzo has already destroyed the club finances. I am not comfortable with the phrase "good money" for Sarr. Even at the figures you quote we'll be making a £7m - £12m loss (and it could be more) - this has been a dreadful signing. Good money implies Pozzo has done well. £20-£25m is just making the best of a previous poor decision.
“Good money” in the context of the Championship/2 year deal. Of course a poor return on investment. But £25m would be the joint fifth biggest fee ever received by a Championship club (after Ake, Sissoko, Watkins and Pickford and in line with Ramsdale)
So Clive's and Giaretta's have both been hacked. Hmmmm. Is this what Boris meant by 'Deep State'? Just asking for a Russian oligarch friend you understand...
Excellent news. Now we can finally move on our other Mogi Bayat targets. Might free up some money for a Gosling contract extension, too!
This bloke has worked on the checkout at Sainsburys for the last 10 years, and hears lots of useful information
Ooh, I don't know Global warming = melted ice caps = rising sea levels = global wettening around the Vic Our lot might actually play better in wellies
Indeed. The club clearly planned to sell him for more than they paid. Fair play to anyone who wants to tie themselves into knots by pretending we've somehow made a profit.
Just saw a rumour that Chelsea is interested in Saint maximim who the magpies value at 40m. I can still remember the arguments we had in the Sarr thread possibly after our first match against Newcastle last season about the better player between Sarr and Saint Maximim. I was the only one here who actually see Maximim as the better player simply because he can't match Sarr's scoring stats but he always put in efforts in games. He is always willing to take players on. Whenever you are about to play Newcastle, there has to be a plan to stop Saint Maximim. Yes, he wont score goals, but he likes taking players on, so once he gets past two or three of your defenders and sets up someone else who knows how to find the back of the net, then Maximim look like a real threat. As for Sarr, yes he can score goals especially against inferior opposition but you can't expect him to consistently put in effort in all games. And now we are struggling to sell him for just 20m. Not even a team have officially made a bid of 15m for him which I think our board will easily accept. Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
We aren’t struggling to sell him for ‘just £20m’ and the club won’t accept £15m. He’s valued above those figures, 100%.
I thought he has just one year left in his contract, if that is true, I will take 10m for him right now than allowing him to leave for free next season. Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
