What’s the saying, class is temporary form is permanent, well maybe not but that’s what it’s like with Sarr.

I'm sorry but whilst the circumstances haven't been ideal, Sarr has been responsible for a great part of his underachievement through sheer lack of effort and a poor mindset.

It's possible he'll thrive in certain conditions, but a struggling club who needs their best players to help them out was shortchanged by the lack of application he's shown.

The guy didn’t even make it in to any of the Championship team of the season lists last time round. The official EFL one or otherwise

Class? Sarr? He's fast. That's literally it. He has no close control, mediocre touch, no aerial ability, isn't strong, doesn't have great vision or a good footballing brain, doesn't have a good shot or a wand of a right foot for crossing.

He's fast and that sometimes gets him until business areas if he bothers to use his pace, which he rarely does.

He'll play at Prem or another top league level but he wont be top 6 material in any major league. Ever.

At his best he's a mid table winger. West ham is bang on his top level.

Yep the problem isn’t that he doesn’t have assets. It’s that we paid £32m for a bog standard fast winger worth £15m. And now Pozzo scratches his head about why he can’t sell for £25m.

Based on what I've seen from Sarr in the last year I genuinely think those players I've listed are better at football than him. You don't have to agree.

There is an awful lot of revisionism going on around Sarr. Without him we wouldn't have got in the top 2 last year, he was pretty much our only attacking threat. He's been rubbish since his injury, yes, but he was very good the 18 months before that. His performance against Villa on the opening day was one of the best i've ever seen from a Watford player.

I don’t think it’s revisionism, that was the championship. The debate seems to be whether he’s a class player as far as football in general goes, doing well in the championship doesn’t make you class player in general football terms which for most people is the Premier League, not the league below it. Neither does performing well in the first game of the season and essentially disappearing after that.

I do agree he’s a big factor in the championship, which one might expect after spending £32m on a player.

I’m starting to think the best way out of the mess if the player is happy with it is to keep him next year, enjoy the 50% increase in our promotion chances that would mean, and then agree to let him go for £8m-£12m with a year left on his deal the following summer come what may.

If Gino doesn’t get his £30m then he may not have a choice anyway.

I don’t agree, but that’s fine as this is a forum so members are welcome to express their opinion and I respect you see things differently, I would say based on his potential Sarr was one of the first names on the team sheet last season, unfortunately his performances didn’t live up to that potential and interestingly it wasn’t until he was taken off at Everton that the goals started to go in.

I expect when/if he moves he will put in some stellar performances, he won’t be the first player that just doesn’t do it consistently for us.

I think he had less impact on our championship season than Danny Graham did. That is before taking into account had we not spent the quoted £50m, £45m, £40m, £35m, £30m, £25m, ... the Pozdux decreasingly claim they spent as his value drops by the game, the side would have theoretically been balanced enough across the pitch to rely on his *checks notes* 13 goals and 4 (lower than Ken Sema) assists. However it turns out this point is redundant as instead we would have had a squad consisting of Anthony Limbombe, Kaveh Rezaei, Obbi Oulare, Lukasz Teodorczyk, Massimo Bruno, Adrien Trebel, Samuel Kalu, Bubacarr Sanneh, Thomas Foket as we will soon discover.

The Athletic understands Gino Pozzo is set to make a profit on the sale of Sarr, accepting a £15m bid from Nottingham Forest.

I think that summed him up, He's like the kid that says "I can't do it, it's too hard" and quits, He was happy to play in the championship when the opposition wasn't as good and results were going our way, but not prepared to roll his sleeves up and dig deep when the going got tough.

Realistically, if it's about performance, he should struggle to get into top 10 but no way he makes it into our top 5 players of last season.
But if it's about commitment, not sure he will even make the bench or even be part of the match day squad at all. He was so bad I prefer watching Sema play than him.

Foster has to be in that list. Should easily even make the list of our top 5 players last season.

Think you might be in a minority on that one - Foster isn’t a popular chap on here !

Fair enough he did come 2nd overall in player of the season so some must have liked him .

He did well against Norwich (a championship team) beyond that I cannot think of another game he played well in.

Well, maybe that's because he scored 2 cheap goals, but I rated Dennis and Kiko much better than him in that game though. But then, they say goals win games, so that means Sarr was very good for just two games last season? Villa and Norwich? He should be ashamed of himself.

Yes...is this such an outlandish suggestion? Sarr has already had some significant career highlights (rushed back from injury to play crucial role in AFCON win, vanquished Liverpool to prevent an invincible season) and he’ll have more if the next move is the right one. Dennis was obviously better for us this season but Sarr has achieved more in his career thus far and the fact that he didn’t perform in our awful side last season doesn’t mean that he isn’t on track for a very good playing career. There is probably more volatility in Dennis’ career trajectory, which is part of why I expect we’ll see Sarr sold for a higher fee than Dennis, even though the latter has longer on his contract.
