I'll just admit it. I'm one of the UK experts in fracking and the general consensus is laughably incorrect. Will it work? Yes Is it safe? Yes. Is it viable? Yes Is it going to reduce our bills? No Is it going to increase our reliance on fossil fuels? Yes The technicalities are full of laughable misinformation. Literally, whatever you think you know, you're almost certainly wrong. But even I wouldn't advocate a push towards shale gas. We need to look towards renewable energy. Fossil fuels are the past. Local agreement? Are you kidding me? Cuadrilla made an unacceptable mistake and have laid the foundation for a rejection of shale gas, despite the process of hydraulic fracturing existing for decades in "conventional" extraction. It's called reservoir engineering. Reservoir Stimulation. People against fracking for the technique are an embarrassment. But if you're against the general idea of Fossil Fuels then I am 100% with you.

They remind me of the role the politruk played in the Soviet armed forces - all orders (policies) had to go through them so they could be assessed for adhering to the party line. FWIW the politruk never really went away in the Russian forces - they were re-named in 2018 to the snappily re-named 'Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GVPU VS RF)'.
