I don't want then to stay up out of benevolence. I want them to stay up as they will move players even worse than what we've given them to us.
Them staying up will be hugely important for us moving forward. Relegation would be fairly disastrous although clearly Pozzo has to have a really long look at himself as his tenure looks like being abject failure if he's not careful
They just conceded to Empoli. Edit: VAR checking a foul, gone to monitor. 0-0 Former Hornet M'baye Niang fouled an Udinese player. Very soft decision.
Such a frustrating player. Fitness issues aside, his finishing was so inconsistent but did good in hold up play and being a nuisance.
They have Frosinone on the last day who now have the same points as Empoli and could also go down if they lose, so not looking good for them. I wonder if Gino will consider hiring a new manager for the game?
Disgusting cheats. Match fixing, bent ref. Absolutely shocking and disgraceful. The day the football died.
Really is quite concerning, imagine the dross they'll send us if they get relegated. Start of next season we have Kabasele and Davis in our starting XI.
Exactly. I don't particularly like Udinese as I do think they're arrogant in how they view us but I also think it's very short sighted to want them to go down as it would negative repercussions for us both on and off the pitch.
It doesn’t matter, it’s clinging onto the past to even care either way. They can no longer spare us a decent player, which is what sent us on an upward trajectory in the first place. At the most optimistic, it’s a place for us to shunt crap we can’t sell elsewhere, but that’s far less of an issue now we’re a below average championship team, we haven’t got anybody of any significant value we need to get rid of to them. The games up, that’s why we are where we are now, and why Udinese are on the brink of relegation. The good days under Pozzo aren’t ever coming back, so it makes no difference to us what league Udinese are in, we’ll still be a crap championship club (if we’re lucky) regardless of what league they’re in.
It makes a big difference - do you think they'll be able to send us a handy £16mil for players like Kamara to help with our cash-flow if they're in Serie B? Do you think the Pozzos are going to invest the same limited amount in to us as a club - or in fact rather even less - if their income and net worth has significantly decreased from relegation? The situation with us will likely only get worse and even more financially tight if Udinese go down. But you'd probably like that as it would give you even more to moan about.
There are rumours of the odd player coming here in the summer from Udinese. If they went down that chance pretty much disappears. They will be in a higher league than us and will be able to attract better players thus allowing us maybe to get some on the periphery of their squad. They have much better chance of improving by staying in Serie A which again might be a benefit to us. The positives of them in Serie A are sizeable even if they are not the team they were 10 years ago. It's not looking great for or them at the moment but it would be far worse if they went down as well. No idea what their financial position is. Where is Sherlock (?) when you need him
None of that is going to happen anymore regardless of what league Udinese are in, you’re living in the past.
I’m no Pozzo fan but if I was in charge of the finances.. Udinese stay up - keep the best players currently at Udinese, improve the Udinese side with new signings, send current players (who are better than our current crop) to Watford including any incoming that need game time on loan Udinese go down- sell the best players currently at Udinese to recoup the financial loss, loan in players to Udinese and sell anything at Watford that’s worth 10 shekels
Don’t disagree with the second scenario, the issue is if they stay up, when did the bolded part actually last happen? They haven’t been able to share any players with us for some time now, at least none that will make a meaningful difference to our league position. The days of Abdi, Vydra, Fessi etc. being surpluses to their requirements are a dim and distant memory now, and now they’re regularly circling the drain every season, they simply don’t have anything to give us that that they can A) afford to spare us, or B) that would make any difference to us. In our period of Pozzo ownership they’ve gone from competing for the CL, to fighting relegation. Both clubs are in decline, and don’t have anything to offer the other club that will materially change that.
They are in the top division in Italy. As i said they are not the team they were 10 years ago but to say it wouldn't make any difference if they were relegated is ridiculous
I can't see any version of events in which them getting relegated benefits Watford. On balance it's more likely to do harm to us in the long run. So while it would be extremely funny if they dropped, I'd rather they stayed up.
I agree that the Pozzo ownership model is slowly and steadily running out of steam. I don't believe it's unearthing enough talent to service two football clubs and subsequently choices will have to be made where they place the few players they bring in. Probably easier to switch between clubs if TC adopts the 3-5-2 formation similar to Udinese next season but, you can’t say that it will make no difference if Udinese get relegated. It will
And Luton, Sheffield Utd and Burnley were in the top division of England this season, but what does that actually mean? They’re struggling against relegation and have no spare players to offer us. I’m not saying I want them to go down, but the reasons people don’t want them to go down are distant memories now. It won’t do us any good if they go down, but what you think we might be able to get from them if they stay up doesn’t exist anymore, it’s finished, it’s in the past. And if they don’t go down this season, it’s only a matter of time before they do, the Pozzo empire is firmly on the decline and Udinese staying up this season isn’t going to change that.
I’m not saying it won’t make a difference, obviously it won’t benefit us, but equally I think people are living in the past, all the things they think we can benefit from are distant memories. Even the Kamara book cooking exercise was under completely different circumstances for both clubs, things have moved on since then and not in a good way.
The Pozzos are not wealthy enough to run top flight clubs anymore. They simply don’t have the funds and have lost the X factor that their superior recruitment gave them. Maybe this relegation or near relegation will make them try harder to sell off a significant chunk to an investor who will help retain Serie A status and get us back to the prem, on the basis that 50% of a good asset value is worth more than 100% of a poor asset value?
Because their disgusting racist fans utterly despise our great club and wish us nothing but harm? They celebrated like deranged chimps when we went down. What Watford fan in their right mind would wish anything short of bankruptcy for their horrendous club?
One who could see beyond short sighted petty vindictiveness and objectively recognise it was better for wfc if they were to stay up.
Oh you poor delusional sap. Another one who's fallen for this lie. Why do you think they are in the top league while we're on the way to the third division? Why do you think their team is full of players who would improve us considerably, including some of the best players to have ever played for our club? We are the very very junior partners in a very unequal partnership. On top of that their fans despise us. And still people like you are dining on a few crumbs that fell from their table over a decade ago! Would you let your neighbour phuc your wife in exchange for a short drive in his Ferrari? We've had NOTHING from them of any benefit t many years. Please explain precisely how it is better for us for them to stay up? Typical Watford fan with "little Watford" mentality. Perfectly happy to play second fiddle to garbage like these qwunts. Pathetic.
Nothing to do with their fans. They can't help us and I don't really care about them. There is no benefit to us if they go down but if they stay up at least the possibility of helping us is still there (even as @a19tgg quite rightly says, they don't seem to have much spare) plus if they were looking for a sale on investment, being Serie A will make a big difference to that
