What is football anyway if it’s not 20 blokes running around like their pants are on fire? It’s a battle and this guy is first over the trenches. Which does sadly mean he’ll probably leave the battlefield early doors, but 10 men often play better than 11.
Being able to play the beautiful version of any game is vastly overrated in my opinion. Aesthetics are all very well but work, heart and energy can get you a long way. Les Taylor, Hessie, Doucoure,David Ferrer,Diego Schwartzman to name a few.
Of course but Taylor, Hessie and Doucoure could play as well, not just run around. From Foxes comments it sounds a little like we have signed an excitable angry labrador rather than a CDM.
Hopefully the step down in class will cover up his technical limitations . It’s worth noting that to play in the centre of the park in EPL you have to technical skills of the highest order.
Indeed--many of our players who were out of their depth in the Prem 3 years ago were absolutely fine, sometimes even outstanding in the Championship. It's just a shame that of those players, it is probably the best of the bunch in Kiko who has left...
Agree, Kiko s technique was superb, you dont get to train everyday with the Real and Barcelona 1st team squads at their peak if you cant hold your own. Swimming against the tide of this forum I actually think Ken is a decent Championship winger ( defending at WB perhaps not) but is way short of requirements to be a EPL player.
He tries at defending, would be nice if someone gave him a hand mind you! Anyone in the division would have struggled against WBA's right side on Monday
I agree regarding your King Ken opinion of him being a decent Championship winger. In the two games so far, he's played his heart out and was even ok defensively. I know he ain't awesome, but if he gets a more attacking role when/if SPorD get sold, he could prove to be useful. Long live the king
Disagree - I think almost all of Ken's good performances for us have come at wing back when he has a bit more space to operate. He can do a job on the wing, especially if he is coming on as a defensive sub, but I'd have no confidence in him breaking down defences. Lacks the speed or guile to play in a front 3.
Kiko didn’t train ‘everyday’ with their first teams - as he played for their B Teams who are clubs by their own right in Spain. Maybe the odd day here or there but he never made a First Team appearance for either side.
Geoff Doyle @GeoffDoyle1 4m #WatfordFC head coach Rob Edwards tells me he’s delighted to have Hamza Choudhury. “Very good with the ball, athlete, gives energy, tenacity, desire. Plays on the edge.” RE says he & board have worked together on this & moved quicker due to injury to TDB. No news on Sarr/Dennis.
Yes he is an upgrade on our current midfield who can’t play or run around at all. This fella can do the latter, albeit he does have a penchant for passing to the opposition and being a bit of a clown
Reasonable price, I think. Perhaps a touch on the high side, but he’s got decent experience at a high level already in his career, with room to grow further playing regular football. If he’s instrumental in a successful season, as yesterday indicated he might be, I’d be happy with that.
Well we would presumably only want him on a permanent after a good season with us, so surely the price reflects that. It's probably about right.
Ironically we may decide we don’t need him if we are promoted but do need him if we stay in the champ.
We'll definitely need his profile of player if we go back up, although whether he personally would be good enough is another matter. I'd like to think getting regular games under his belt, whatever the division, will help him
Very nearly as camp as Dennis' unveiling video by Florist. It ran it a close second! It could have been a winner had it not relied heavily on the overuse of Bacofoil from Poundland I thought.
