Gaming thread

BOOM... mine arrived this morning have to wait until after my match to play it though unfortunately

 

Seems Amazon only sent out their Northern Irish orders early? No idea why, maybe they just misjudged it, but I'm not complaining!

 

Played it for an hour, down 2 missions just as obviously i want to explore at the start.

My 1 hour review:

Wow.... simply unreal, handling of cars is unreal, everything is so unrealistic including running over people/getting knocked down

Word of advice, dont go on a tram ride, pretty pointless at the start as it takes a few mins and you cant do anything

Went on a drive up the mountains which was unreal, stole a road racing bike aswell which was fun, after I was left stranded after rolling my range rover down a ditch.
By the way, the mountains are actually massive, no joke, dont even know if these are the biggest ones but not even at the foot of the mountain and ive been driving up hills for a while.

First missions include lots of shooting and car racing, pretty cool start

If you want to find decent cars early, 'Vinewood' (basically Hollywood) is full of them, its up in the hills a bit. Think theres a Beverly hills somewhere too but haven't found it yet

All in all... an amazing first impression

 

Yea, its meant to be realistic!

Emm, going out now but had another play there, climbed a mountain to see the map better... again, wow! its huge, massive lake too! As I climbed the mountain it was dark and I could hear wolves in the background, was cool stuff. Also, in Vinewood at the top of a hill, there's a Gallileo Observing thing, was locked because it was night but dont know if you can get in during the day, anyway, if you jump the fence you can see through telescopes at the whole city, looks unreal at night!

Another thing, car damage is amazing, stole a sports car and crashed into a tree side on and my back tyre caved into my car, could still move but was slow and impossible to control, so I then got a camper van and rolled it, got out and tried to steal a car but got knocked down and when I tried to start the van again it wouldnt start, was pretty cool again

 

Yep, loads of people who live in Northern Ireland and ordered from Amazon received theirs today. Guessing Amazon sent them out a day earlier to make sure people had it in time for release day.

People in America have had it since Thursday at latest, possibly Wednesday as well, through whatever means!

The 360 version got ripped and leaked onto the internet so loads of videos etc have come out since then because anyone with a flashed 360 can download it and play it. Also there's been online streams happening pretty much around the clock for the past day or so of people showing off the gameplay.

I agree with the driving, from what I've seen it seems quite odd, been reading a bit that Rockstar may put out a release day patch for these kind of things but no idea if there's any truth in it.

 

Both PS3 and 360 versions have a mandatory 8GB install. For 360 you use the 2nd disc to install the file onto your HD and use the 1st disc to play the game.

For PS3 it's all on the 1 disc because Blu Ray discs are huge and they could fit it all on there, still got the 8GB install though.

 

Got it on PS3 and Smithy is right, doesnt take that long though, I just let mine run as I was doing other stuff

As for the driving, definately getting mixed reviews but I think thats just people who like to complain, nothing wrong with it at all, I think its better than driving in the other GTAs

 

Probably my favourite thing so far is the animals, went diving under water and was eaten by a shark! So far seen a few other types of animals but dont want to name them incase people want to find them for themselves

EDIT: 1 more thing, one of the first things you should do is go to the top of the highest mountain (think its the highest one anyway), once you get to the top you can see most of the map and theres a surprise up there, dont want to ruin it (Nothing significant, just fun)
