Football Manager 2012

3rd after 13 games with Spurs. Pretty happy with it so far, especially considering the horrendous injury problems i've had in defence.

 

Lost 4-1 on the opening day to Bristol City which pissed me off as we had a mare 15 minutes but played well the rest of the game. Beat Bristol Rovers 3-1 in the cup, Garner getting a hat trick. Now I just beat Forest at home 4-2, with Prince Buaben getting a hat trick. I really like this game. Goodbye A-Levels

 

only on loan, im paying 50% of his QPR wage so about 6.5k for the season.

 

Just lost 3-2 to Brighton after a 90th Minute Scott Loach own goal :rant:

CMS and Bucko scored for Brighton as well, I'll count this one as 5-0.

That's the position history of my team, Krymteplytsya, over the season so far. Lost 7 out of the first 9 or 10 games then bounced back and slowly climbed the table.

Only 2 teams get promoted. There are 4 games left. One of my games is against 2nd place Nyva Vinnytsya. Going to be a pretty interesting close season!

 

I'm only in October, but has the game got to easy?

 

Got Man City in the FA cup 3rd round, scraped a draw at home with a last minute equaliser.

In the replay, they put out a reserve team, like literally a reserve team with only Tevez and Adam Johnson being well known players and I spanked em 4-0 at the City of Manchester stadium. Not really sure why they did it, but bigger fish to fry I suppose.

As for the league i'm sitting in 7th, drawing too many games to be a realistic threat for promotion I reckon, but you never know, I might sneak into the play offs.

England just won the 2012 Euro Championship. Beating France 1-0. On the way they smashed Spain 3-1, Holland 4-1 and Italy on Pens.

I got promoted and I am evens to get relegated. 2000-1 to win the championship.

 

Why am I so crap at the game? I am 21st in the league and I always fail with Watford! What formation and training etc do people use? I am good with other teams but I can never get Watford anywhere, despite all my efforts

 

Anyone else noticed how wrong Watford's home shirt is? Look at the sides...

 

just started playing, got to my third friendly, went from full screen, now its black round the edges, and the games in the middle of the screen (if that makes sense) any ideas anyone?

 

No idea. Probably worth a search over at the steampowered.com forums. I assume you've looked at your display settings (in game)?

I made a post in the "Changes against Hull" thread about a 4-3-3, which is what I use. More info in here (but if you don't want to see my formations, instructions, players etc... don't look.

I've basically gone for that. I'm using tactics that I think I started in 2009 so there's none of this Poacher/Inside Forward baloney.
Full backs bombing forward with good crossing stats (Doyley and ****o have this already), 3 CMs with high tackling, work rate and passing. 3 STCs, the outer two with high crossing.
Martin Taylor is my 3rd top scorer with 18 goals! I aim all corners for the far post and get him to attack it. Mapps stands on the keeper.
Buaben and Jenkins are great in the middle.

I keep the passing very short, and pressing on the whole pitch (I don't sign players without 14 workrate). Starting strategy is control. I can probably upload my tactics but it's kind of cheating!

Shouts are very useful, I like to pass into space and close down even more (not to mention time wasting) when defending a lead, and work ball into box (compliments my short passing) when looking to grab a goal.

I'm top scorers, but also with about 65 conceded :s
Make sure you use shouts, they are very, very useful. As is morale (and Woan is terrible at TTs and Press Confs).

 

go to preferences and change the screen size mine did that and its just cos it configured itself for a notebook sized screen for some reason!

My board offered me an increased transfer budget in January, so I went out and signed Carlos Tevez from Man City Reserves, Fellaini and Jan Vertongen. Sold Huddlestone, Assou-Ekotto and Bassong to increase my funds. Tevez was a bargain at £17m. Fellaini had a £15m release clause, which was nice. 2nd in the league after 30 or so games and on a 17 match unbeaten run. Just beat Chelsea 4-1. Highlight of the season was beating Arsenal at the Emirates 3-1.

 

Currently in November, in a playoff place, which is nice (probaly wont last) highlights, beating west ham, and thrashing palace at selhurst park 4-1. only just lost out in carling cup round 4 losing 4-3 at villa park.

 

First season at the toon came 7th. 2nd signed sturridge from chelsea for 3.9mil and has 21 goals in 21 games! But got injured for 4 months, but im still 3rd in february 8 points of city in first!

I'm currently 9th in the Ukrainian Prem, Shaktar obviously first. No highlights other than non getting thrashed every week like I thought we would.

 

Haha, what made you chose them?

 

I started a game with loads of leagues selected, reputation: sunday league footballer and start unemployed. Applied for every job going and got accepted for 8. I then chose the one that had the least wage budget deficit and a cool name (Krymteplytsya Molodiznhe). Signed a bunch of decent free players and it was enough to get me promoted. Now the team isn't good enough for the prem and we have no money. Me in the game can speak Russian now so I'll go there if any club will take me. Just have to survive this season.

 

Started the season with all major leagues loaded, and England down to League 2. Started automatic and after numerous rejections picked up the Southend job on October, bottom of the league. After a slow start and 2 points from my first 5 games, i've picked up some momentum going into the new year with 5 wins from 6, leaving me only 6 points of the playoff places - now looking to strengthen and make an unlikely run for promotion.

Won the league with Spurs in my first season. Clinched the title on the final day with a win over Sunderland. Man City blew a 7 point lead with 6 games remaining. Also applied for the Great Britain job at London 2012. Hopefully i'll get the position.

 

Don't worry, you aren't the only one. 9 times out of 10 i'm utter garbage with Watford and only the odd save game actually goes well as it did on FM11.

I picked up FM12 yesterday and of course started with Watford and cleared out most of the backroom staff bar Ian Woan and bought in Frank Lampard Snr, Andy Cole and Claus Lundekvamn Flogged Jenkins on loan to Burnley and they paid me 425K for the season with an option to buy for £1.5M and allowed a couple of youngsters to go out on loan but resisted any wholesale changes. In came Grant Hanley a CB from Blackburn and Andros Townsend from Spurs on season long loans along with Amdy Faye on a free to add some depth. Along with the money from Jenkins and my existing transfer budget i splashed out 900K on Bradley Wright-Phillips from Charlton to bolster my attacking options. 8 games in and sitting 10th with 4 wins and 13 points and a narrow 3rd round league cup exit at Man City after leading for 65mins.

Yeates and Sordell have been impressive both bagging 5 goals already and Hogg has been good despite having average stats and has made a starting spot his own despite me expecting him to be a back up. I'm lining up as follows....

I've gone for 2 holding midfielders which seems to be working ok so far and it gives my wingers more freedom. Enjoying the new game alot so far, like the choice of tone you can use to speak to your players in team talks, means i rarely leave them to my assistant as i used to do alot on previous versions.

 

Well just played the final game of the 46 match season and unbelievably with a 1-0 win at Crewe on the last day, we got ourselves into the play-off spots for the first time the whole season. A 50% win ratio since I took over the reigns in October with the club languishing in 21st. Cedric Avina, Ryan Hall, Andy Dorman, and utility striker Thomas Dovessi all surprisingly strong performers. So now the play-offs and 4th placed Port Vale, who I just beat in the league away and drew with at home in my first match in charge - i've got all the momentum - if I do go up, my god i'll get raped in the division above.

Wow, the first leg of the play-semi final was a cracker. Was at Roots Hall and I went all out attack to try and take a big leader to Port Vale - and it looked to have back fired, them 2-0 up after only 20 minutes. Stuck with the tactics, and a brilliant second half performance resulted in a 4-2 victory for us, Kevin Kerr hitting them on the break towards the final minutes. Will go there playing hard ball, and should myself in a Wembley final against rivals Dagenham and Redbridge.

 

Catching up on what's been said in this thread is seriously tempting me to order this game right now. I was going to hold off for a bit due to uni work etc, but I don't think I can now.

A comfortable 4-1 victory at Wembley completed one of the most unthinkable of promotions I ever achieved, having been 21st when I took over in October. Now to assemble a squad capable of staying up, with no money whatsoever.

 

I won the league with the toon after city's 8 match winless run, including losing 2-1 on the final day! Got offered the united job after SAF retired but i turned them down.

 

Seems like a lot of us have been productive this weekend bit ill today so have had loads of time to push on in Watford's prem season. Not sure if I mentioned but I got in through the playoffs, beating Forest 2-0 and 2-0, then a 1-0 win over West Ham (with Eustace sent off!)

Signed Danny Graham off of Swansea for £4m who went down with 16 points. Brought in a new LB, RB, Grant McCann, Aron Gunnarsson and a new Striker.

Currently in mid-Feb sitting in 15th, 2 points clear of 18th, with the worst GD in the division (lost 5-0 twice, 6-0 twice ) and really struggling here. I guess I made some very poor signings because I spent my entire £13m budget in the summer, but we shall see. Performances have been getting better and I'm pretty sure I can keep my head above water for now.

 

13mil!? i won the league with newcastle and they only gave me 9mil the following season!

 

That is dismal, especially as you'd expect another £30m+ from the CL!

 

I lost in the play off final first season, won the league second season.

Got 19 Mill to spend and signed Graham for 2.9m, Gosling, Elliot Bennett and a few kids. Gonna be a struggle to stay up I think. Had the stadium expanded by 6000 seats as well. Happy days.
