To be honest, it just looks like the normal bunch of touch ups and updates that they do every year to keep it fresh. However one new thing has caught my eye, you can now add or remove leagues during your career. So if you decide to move region and no longer need certain leagues then you can remove them so that the computer doesn't have to work out results for the league throughout a season.

For example, if you move from Celtic to the Kashima Antlers in the J-League, you can deselect the SPL and no longer make it an active league. This will be great for journeymen players like me who would happily manage a team in the Namibian regional 2nd division if it didn't mean having to activate every league in the entire world.

Looking forward to it. The changes sound like they'll improve the overall experience and I like the modifications to transfer negotiations etc.

 

Does this mean that you can effectively manage in every available league in the world without having to have a ridiculously large game running then?

If it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't have bothered updating from my FM11. I'll post the link in here when they release a demo.

 

I love this game, and although i'm usually a modest person, I ****ing boss this game.

 

Really want to buy it, but it's my A-Levels this year, and I really don't need any distractions so not going to risk my A-Levels over a game

Miles Jacobson just announced that the "game has gone gold". Which means that it's been sent off for full mass production. He also said the Demo is planned for release this weekend.

It allows you to play the first half of the season in any of the biggest European leagues.

For whatever reason, SI have decided to make it Steam only. (Steam is a game management type program). No steam = no FM12. It's free to download and I assume there's a link on the site ^

Mine's downloading now, I'll take over from Dyche immediately

 

I'm not gonna bother with steam so i'll wait for the disc version to come out. Got FIFA to preoccupy me for now anyway.

 

The Disc version will require Steam as well. Apparently you'll need to activate the game online first, then can play it offline. Either way, Steam will need to be installed.

Has anyone downloaded the Demo yet? I did but it turns out they have a problem with Intel graphics cards and the game causes the entire computer to freeze. Unless they fix that I obviously won't get the game.

 

I don't think I can beat what I did with Watford last year tbh.

Downloaded the demo and had a look at our players. Sean Murray & Gavin Massey look like good prospects. Adam Thompson too.

 

I've won the Premier League twice and Champions League, FA Cup, League cup a few times with Watford on 11. I will have a Watford game but trying to think of who to start a game with this year, undecided

 

Always been a massive, massive fan of Football Manager, however I must say - I'm thoroughly unimpressed with the new game, really hate the lay out too.

Really? I think it's really good. Only had a little mess around on the demo, but I found it all pretty smooth and easy to use/navigate my way around. I like the new features with scouting, player reports being more in depth and the team talks are a lot more responsive/varied now. What specifically didn't you like about the new lay-out?

Having spent a couple of hours on the demo just getting a feel for the game, I'm really looking forward to the release. Had a couple of magnificent games on 11 with FC Metz and Watford, both of which lasted for around 11 seasons. Hoping I'll be able to achieve similar success on 12.

 

Take back everything I said, to be honest just took a little whole to adjust. Can't wait for the full game.

Anyone know if you can carry on your demo in the full game?

 

Usually you can. So I would assume the same counts this year. I'll be waiting until the first patch is released before I start a game up properly. One of my FM'isms is that installing a patch when you're in the middle of a decent game brings bad luck.

Speaking of which, anybody else have any of those little things that you think will affect the score in a match, regardless of how ridiculous it sounds?

Back in the days of Champ Man, when playing with friends, we used to watch the games in complete silence. The theory was that anybody talking would make the opposition score. I remember nearly coming to blows with my brother because laughed during a game and made the other team score. Another chap i know used to click the mouse frantically throughout a match because he believed it would help his team score. Madness of course, but classic.

I still haven't been able to play it yet, they are still looking into the Intel graphics card problem thingy.

 

Can't get the stupid demo/Steam to work, every time I try and start Steam it gives me some bullsh*t message about not being connected to the internet even though I clearly am and shuts itself. Always hated Steam anyway, never usually install the FM games via it so if that's the only way you play it this year I probably won't be buying it.

 

From what I can see on SI forums there seems to be a big problem with Anti-Virus getting in the way of both Steam and FM. Try disabling it if you have one

Yeah, I've never used 3D pitch. Find it easier to see where my tactics need adjusting etc when you can see all the players at once.

 

Started the demo last night after my new stadium with watford in fm11 got delayed 2 years with no explanation. Hopefully this is fixed.

Very impressed with the new team talk screen. Also like that you cant get free loans and walk the championship this time around, you have to pay loan fees for the better youngsters.

The transfer centre will take some getting used to and maybe its because my 11 game was in year 2030 but fm12 feels as though its running at the speed of light.

Looking forward to it, didn't realise you could carry on after the demo though.

A lot of clubs want Taylor and mariappa, and sordell and Jenkins can go for a good amount too.

 

I was told that tapping the spacebar as much as I could would help me score. I was about 10 at the time so it took a while to figure out that it was actually just pausing the game.

I usually wear a suit for matches and play Z Cars before home kick offs.

I was convinced that if I clicked the screen the players would pass it where you clicked. I scored from doing it a few times so just carried on doing it. I know it's pathetic but the stadiums on 3D mode really annoy me, you've either got a tiny little shack or a massive Wembley style stadium.

 

I completely agree with the stadiums, my friends think it's pathetic but it really annoys me, the seat colours being wrong can be a bit annoying too. I hate what they've done to the 3D matches this year, massive step backwards, will be playing 2D.

 

I know at least 2 people who suited up and took a picture with the club scarf or shirt, to use as their manager profile photograph.

 

Finally got a decent way of playing with Watford on the demo. Started crazily with a 5-4 win over Donny at home. Signed Jamie Mackie for a few notes and he's looking quite nice up front with Sordell.

Iwelumo is useless. Like real. Playing Ross Jenkins ahead of Eustace as a playmaker seems to be the making of him.

Signed a few freebies who seem to quite up for playing. Forsyth and Yeates bombing down the wings.
