You know what BRLR I honestly don't think that's too far off the mark. For all this seasons woes we IMO aren't that far away from being a top side in this division. Cut out the end of game melt downs, silly bookings / free kicks and have a little more luck with injuries .
Keep Tozser, keep Deeney, sign Vydra, sign a good centre back, sign a keeper, don't get injuries, stop getting cards and stop losing. Someone send that over to Beppe asap!
Won't mean anything until it's a done deal but fingers crossed we can get it done. Might as well make him Captain while we are at it.
As I have already said on another thread, this is fantastic news; and if we manage to secure him, I think he should be our new club captain as well.
Would be great if he stays. The supporters welcomed him and have shown support throughout his stay here. Would be a great signing and would be made even better if we sign a defensive midfielder to allow Tozser to push forward.
Have you all finally closed the book on the esoteric role Iriney plays and how it's just not understood by lesser students of the game? Now you've seen someone who can play in the middle?
Goals conceded per game in matches Iriney started: 1.25 Goals conceded per game in matches Tozser started: 1.45 And Tozser was playing under the more defensive Sannino. I think a midfield of Iriney, Tozser and Abdi would do pretty well.
Tozser has played out of position the whole time he has been here. As a defensive midfielder he hasn't actually done that much, a few sliding tackles here and there. I agree with WT on this one, that midfielder trio would be a passing delight mized with some bite. Even if you then go with a 4 you can put McGugan or Murray out a bit further right with Tozser on the left.
If we want them to play for us, they'll play for us. We own their contracts. It's not a Vydra situation.
Maybe, but if this season has taught us one thing, surely it's that - however good a player in theory or on paper - if they don't want to be here it ain't going to work.
I quite liked Iriney, gave us some bite. Admittedly a couple of howlers but never the less gave us someone who likes to tackle and some cool on the ball during the initial period of Abdi being out.
Iriney always put his all into every match though, didn't make it obvious he didn't enjoy it here. One thing that man isn't is unprofessional.
Student of the game indeed. 9 minutes to create that stat. You seriously want to see him back? You've gawn clean orff your rocker m8.
Don't understand the stick Iriney was given. I doubt he'll personally want to come back but he was definitely doing a good job here. As WatfordTalk said, a midfield of Iriney, Abdi and Tozser would be brilliant.
It's the old scapegoat card again. Iriney got some stick, then when he left McGugan was in the firing line even though he was scoring goals!
