If that's "united bitcoin" then you can follow the price here - https://crypto.com/price/united-bitcoin Can't say i've ever heard of it so no idea if it's a solid hold or not - although most things with the word bitcoin (other than actual bitcoin!) in are trying to emulate the success of bitcoin and often have little utility themselves.
Taken 6 months to get them but my 2 miners are in the process of finally being shipped! As you can see from the picture above - the area where mine will be deployed are a lot more saturated now! Although most are making at least between 1-3 HNT a month (1 HNT is currently £31), one is very close to where I'm going to be deploying one of mine (annoyingly close) and is making a good amount (65 HNT or just over £2k at current value in just 5 months) and I'll have a much better line of site than theirs so hopefully I can make a good chunk off it!
Where and what did you order? I ordered a bobcat one about 6 weeks ago and was quoted 3 months for delivery, hopefully it won’t be 6 months as well then. There is one in my area that shows as mining 18 HNT a month, not sure how likely that will be but that would be pretty sweet.
I wouldn't hold your breath. The chip shortage is impacting most hardware right now so be prepared for a potentially longer wait than originally quoted. Virtually everything we order at the moment has significant lead times.
Yeah, when I ordered I was quoted 12-20 weeks - it's now been 24 weeks and it's only just been shipped (which will take another couple of weeks as they ship from Hong Kong!)
First hotspot set-up and fully configured, first rewards trickled in around midnight last night and have made £3 from then until now. So assuming that continues I'm on track for roughly £180 a month which isn't too bad, especially since the antenna is inside (will be purchasing an outdoor antenna soon which should see a nice increase in rewards). Not expecting the same results with hotspot #2 which i'll be setting up tomorrow though, which doesn't have the same views but will be going up in a loft instead.
Ethereum looks stronger than Bitcoin now. BTC knocked back to September levels, whereas Ethereum is only knocked back a few days. Not the best day to check your portfolio. Good buying opportunity though if you can spare it.
I am still of the opinion that ETH's going to pass BTC and BTC is going to slowly bleed out into irrelevance once that happens.
I got paid yesterday so was time for my monthly purchase, was a great time to do it Yup, it's what I've been saying for the past 5 years, although has taken much longer than I initially expected and will probably take another few years to surpass BTC. I currently hold a 50/50 split in both, but I think as Eth edges closer i'll slowly swap my BTC holdings for Eth.
I put some in when I thought it was the dip at 52ish... Woke up to see it had hit 42k and devastated my Alts! Fortunately one of my larger holdings is Terra Luna which is the only performer lately. Oh well - we hold on. The day is darkest before the dawn or whatever. I don't think the cycle is over yet.
I got pretty lucky, for some reason. Most of the prices on my alts either didn't move or went up a fair bit. Not going to complain about that, especially after a fair launch I did recently has gone 120x for me already in about 3 days. I've been astonishingly fortunate.
That'll do! My best call was Gala at 5 cents, pretty much saved Christmas. A decentralised Zynga game token - should go through the roof given how crazy mobile gaming is and how far too many people pay-to-win.
Only got into this racket in August unfortunately! It is ridiculously interesting - potentially the biggest innovation since the internet. May not be able to get 100x any more but the only way is up in macro terms. I hope the public don't fall for CBDCs - the digital version of the current banking system.
Made 1.7 HNT (£42.61) between the 2 hotspots in the first week. Not too shabby - the one at my dads is in a fantastic position and has managed to reach Aldershot (47km away) whilst inside with the default antenna - next step is to upgrade the antenna to a bigger and better one and to stick it outside to really maximise the effectiveness.
Really impressed with the kit you get with the miners - my friends hotspot has arrived and he's set it up on the coast at Ilfracombe and it's hitting multiple hotspots in Wales - the furthest one away he's hit was 73km away!
How does it work with line of sight in terms of things being in front of it? For example I live on a terraced street in a town centre, I don’t have the means to put an antenna up yet, so would the houses on the other side of the road block it? Or does it not work like that? The back of my house doesn’t have any houses immediately in the way, or another option is my parents house backs on to loads of fields and then the M25 after a few mile, so they’ve got nothing actually immediately blocking it plus a massive expanse beyond that.
Line of sight is important, but if you can get it as high as possible you can still reach a decent distance, it's probably best to take a look at the map and see where the nearest hotspots are direction wise and then try to aim for them (feel free to drop me a DM with the hex you're in and I can try and work out which side of the building would be best). The hotspot round my mums has practically no line of sight as it's in a very residential area. There's not many tall buildings around so we put it up on the loft - so it has no line of sight but only has to go through the roof to get out and should still cover a decent area from all sides (rather than putting it on one particular side of the building). We don't go particularly far with it (13km is the furthest so far) but it hits a majority of the local ones which is enough for decent earnings with the stock antenna (1.57 HNT in 10 days - £33 at current prices). You can see that we've not reached much to the west which is most likely due to a brick wall in the loft on that side of the building! Whereas the hotspot at my dads has a really good line of sight to the south - so we've focused on hitting as much south as possible (including getting a better antenna - although we've not moved it outside yet, we're gonna see how much the bigger antenna affects results for a week first) and pretty much ignoring everything else and it's obvious that we're hitting much much further due to the clear line of sight - also noticeable is the direction of where we're hitting - practically nothing to the north due to it being on the opposite side of the building.
Thank you, that’s really really useful, and it makes sense now as far as what I’m looking for on the helium website. I’ve just had a look at the others near me (there are none in my specific hex but there are some in the surrounding ones) and they’re reaching quite far north from where I am, which would be out of the front of my house, but I could put it up in the loft. They’re showing as getting around 10 HNT per 30 days. None of them are reaching south at all, which geographically I might be able to do from the back of my house. Looking at my parents, there are much fewer miners, but they all seem to be reaching a lot further and with greater all round coverage, so I might be better off having it there.
I've bought this "dip" so many times that I'm now a HODLer. Patience is the key. The unrest in Kazakhstan can't be helpful as they have the second highest BTC hashrate in the world and they pulled the plug on the internet.
Bonkers how people on Reddit are so blinded in favour of decentralised currencies, whilst simultaneously criticising the fact that a Kazakhstan government crackdown has reduced their savings by 20%.
Always do the opposite to the market. When everyone else is selling, that's a good time to accumulate. When everyone else is buying, that's a good time to take some profits!
Intrigued about this as I've just looked at my area and there are only two hotspots. One is in a valley and making nothing, the other is on top of the hill and making 6 HNT per 30days! Given I'm in a currently empty zone on the hill on the other side of the valley, there might be a good chance to match the 6 HNT which pretty much pays for itself within a few months. Quite a few in the Chalfonts/Gerrards Cross area making 12 HNT per 30days. Living on a hill near London seems ideal.
Haha looks like Watford weren't the only ones to capitulate last night. Time to call it my "long-term portfolio".
Could well be the bear marking beginning. Crypto has largely been true to four year cycles and it's 4 years since the beginning of the last crypto winter, so perhaps we're overdue. Best thing to do is take some profit into a stablecoin and wait and see how things go.
The stock market and crypto market are heavily linked now, some big players with AI that can predict and influence human behaviour. The AI probably goes a lot deeper than just stocks and crypto when it comes to predicting and influencing human behaviour though. The Wall Street market makers are all involved with hedge funds and other investments too and Citadel itself is quite open about using the AI mentioned earlier. Basically the bookie is also a punter and can influence the game in their own favour. I would be looking for the next new thing and getting in on it before the big boys get involved.
