Close Season Detective Work

So the club just posted a picture of Baah on Twitter which they titled ‘Signed, sealed, delivered’:



Nice.

Being a nosey so and so, I thought I’d look at what he’s signing. Turns out it’s an email to Christiano (Giaretta presumably) from someone called Frank:



And we can make out some of it. Point 1 mentions Hungbo. Point 2 to be a list of players in different positions. Left backs has “you said you are close to signing one” next to it - Rose?

Can make out Chalobah’s brother in the list of central midfielders.

One of the wingers suggested is Harry Wilson “at Cardiff on loan from Liverpool” and another is Thrhys Dolan at Blackburn. The first listed striker is Abdullah Sima at Sparta Prague. Then Giovanni Simone at Cagliari and Boulaye Dia at Reims.

Anyway, it’s presumably just a random list of suggested targets from an agent and not quite up there with identifying training ground furniture, but I thought I’d still post it.

Trevoh Chalobah has supposedly had a fantastic impact this season at Lorient. Very good stats.
Sima looked absolutely mental for Sparta and Dia had a great start to the season.

At first glance the wingers are a bit underwhelming.

 

Didn’t some government minister do this walking into downing street? Had a document on show with some very sensitive info on it.

 

Doubt this is all that sensitive and can imagine the same email has been sent to 50 different clubs

 

8 April is the date of the email from Giaretta that ‘Frank’ is responding to I think. Bit odd that’s all they had to pose for the picture with.

I reckon the recipient of that email was a ‘Frank T…’

I checked the list of FA registered intermediaries (aka agents) and there’s a Frank Justin Trimboli:

And Transfermarkt has Joseph Hungbo’s agents down as CAA Base Ltd, whose Managing Director is… Frank Trimboli.

So pretty sure we know who the sender was too, especially given the mention of Hungbo at the top.

 

Checking transfermarkt quite a few, though not all, seem to be represented by 'CAA Base Ltd' (Blas, Panzo, Chalobah, Vieira, Mowatt, Dolan), so it could have something to do with them...

Funnily enough the same agency represents Danny Rose, Ashley Young and Obbi Oulare.

It turns out their Managing Director is one 'Frank' Trimboli - so I guess the email was sent from him - mystery solved!

Yeah, I bet it’s pretty typical for agents to send around versions of this. Probably the most insight we can take from it are the 5 positions listed, which presumably match what Giaretta said we’re looking for this summer:

It must have been tailored to Giaretta though - CAA Base seem to have loooads of clients and not all possible players of theirs are included. Plus many of the players on that list do not seem to be direct clients of CAA Base, but maybe ones they have some kind of second-hand intermediary relationship with via other agencies.

Another random thing I found interesting, Jens Cajuste, DM at Midtjylland who I thought seemed quite promising for Sweden the other day, is a client of CAA Base but was left of that list for whatever reason - disappointing.

 

Of course, the other takeaway from this Baah ain’t getting paid and this will probably be another FIFA court contract dispute.

We've been linked with Simeone a fair bit over the years. Would most definitely be top of my list out of those players. Ok his goalscoring stats are not the best but imo he's one of the most hardworking, unselfish forwards I've seen, always tracking back to help out his team. Would be a fantastic link striker for the wide players and is no slouch to get into the box. I've read Wet Spam have made a loan offer. All accounts he wants out of Italy too.

Don't be too impressed, UEA is actually Sherlock Holmes in real life so this was easy for him!

 

Not being able to figure out the 2nd and 3rd CBs is doing my nut in.

For the 2nd one, can anyone think of any reasonably sized football clubs whose name is two words, first word beginning maybe Q, G or O, and second word beginning M or H?

e.g. Qxxxxxxx Mxxxxxxx

It could have maybe been Olympique Marseillie, but they have no CBs whose names could fit.

The first name seems to begin with L, the surname with K and ending g

e.g. Lxxxx Kxxg (it's not 'King' there are no matches, unless Ledley King has come out of retirement).

The 3rd one's first name looks similar to Jacob. The name of the club seems really long and might begin with S. Can't spot any matches based on those though.

 

The 2nd one I'm pretty sure is Leon King at Glasgow Rangers.

 

Yep I thought that as well, I think the 3rd is 21-year-old Jacob Bedeau from Scunthorpe United.

 

Also, that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from the wingers list is very good. Rapid, great dribbling ability and good with both feet.

 

I thought about him when searching for CBs called 'King', but the club didn't seem to match.

It didn't register that the club might have been listed as 'Glasgow Rangers' and not just 'Rangers'.

Looking at it again from that perspective Leon King is correct.

It's odd that in some places they give an extended version of a club's name and in others they don't.

Unfortunately I have heard that Bournemouth's Richard Hughes has today signed all 3 based purely on this information.
Fortunately this list was deliberately made public to throw Hughes off the scent, a la D-Day landings deception.

 

That's probably correct as well. He's just out of contract now but more linked with League One and Champ clubs. Again, bit odd they didn't bother to add United to the name.

 

He does seem the pick of the wingers on that list. Currently linked with Leeds for £20mil, not sure how true it is.
