The sheet of paper he's signing is not the top one - so presumably there are other emails on top of it that relate to Baah, which is why they happened to have a hard copy of it. But a bit of a weird rookie move to use that paper!

The email is from the agent to the club, so presumably just agent pushing out his players. Doesn't mean we're signing any of them, but does indicate the club was at least hearing from agents about CBs, central MFs, wingers and strikers.

Yeah my read is that Giaretta emailed the agent and said something to the effect of "which of your clients/players you might act as an intermediary with will be on the move this summer, in the following positions."

I don't think Baah is a CAA Base client and he's not mentioned on the list; there probably are more recent emails at the top of the document but no reason to think any would mention Baah. It could have been a random sheet of paper lying around/that Giaretta had handy. Definitely a rookie error to release it

 

Interesting that this appears to be a historic email pre-dating the Rose signing and yet there is no mention of Young. Could add some weight to the idea we were never really in for him.

It could also be that the agency already knew we were bidding for both of them and so didn't need to add them to the list?

The fact that only one left-back was mentioned could be an indication that they were aware it was less of a priority for us as we already had players lined up, and that was just an additional name in case either Young or Rose fell through.

 

You jest, but mods @nornironhorn @domthehornet @Smudger - should this thread be perhaps moved elsewhere? Not only to prevent other teams' scouts maybe seeing and nicking our potential targets, but also to bury the fact that the club seems to have leaked potentially sensitive information of a third party?

Someone above had said it says “Left back [...] you said you are close to signing one [...] Rose?". Can't see it myself, but then I can't read 99% of it.

They are a big agency so it may well be that the MD isn't totally familiar with what is happening on every single deal at any time. Can't imagine the free signing of Rose was a particularly high value one for them.

It actually looks a pretty decent list of players - with the exception of Harry Wilson who I think is dog muck, the rest of the list I quite like.

In terms of the player values as well - it would suggest that striker > wing > midfield > centre back is our current priority which I would probably agree with myself (pending outgoings of course). I fear all 3 of those strikers are outside our price bracket though.

 

Simeone would be under £10m. I think he’s great fun as well + adds to our famous dads collection

 

Yeah I like him. Seems a perfect profile of striker for a newly promoted side. Not the best finisher but every time I have watched him he works his ******** off.

I think he has been a long term interest of ours as well so it is certainly credible.

That was me. The reference to Rose was my guess but I'm pretty sure that's what the rest of that line says.

 

True, but the information could be more prominent and obvious on here than in an old tweet which the vast majority of people wouldn't have thought to look at in so much detail (in that it requires rotating and zooming the picture to realise that it's potentially sensitive).

 

Can you also remove all the tweets and memes from Twitter about this when you get a chance?

It just says "you said you are close to signing one", it does not mention Rose by name, that was just UEA's guess as to who was being referred to. But we could have been in negotiations for both Rose and Young.

Given that both Rose and Young are CAA Base clients, and it appears Giaretta and Trimboli likely had a conversation prior to the email being sent over, I still would have thought he'd have had an idea that we were in for one or both of them.

Otherwise, one would have definitely expected Rose would also have been named as a suggestion on the list, but he wasn't. So Young also not being named is not an indication that we weren't in for him - in fact, it could suggest he knew he was one of the players we were in negotiations for, hence why he was left off the list along with Rose.

 

You reckon he'd be valued under 10m? He had a great start to the season but looks like the manager who came in didn't fancy him. Agreed with @barely1egal works his socks off for the team everytime I've seen him. A very decent option especially if we can get him for that kind of money. He's also stated that he wants to try his luck in a new country, Spain or England.

 

No-one will believe anything anyway until it's confirmed by WdSport.

 

Someone's just posted this on Twits. Said to be a full list of transfer targets from the Baah "contract" (although they are more agent suggestions than actual targets)

 

Please remove this, it's even more prominent. Other clubs like Bournemouth, Dundee and Hemel Hempstead trawl this forum for transfer ideas.

I also see @jackwfc is spreading the names around on twitter as well.

 

Maybe none of them are actually wanted by the club, and it's all an intentional big bluff to throw people off the sent of their main targets?

 

In my first job we had certain sensitive information about new products coming out. There was a tour by industry bigwigs and we were told to clear our desks of any documentation in advvance.
We purposely left some photoshopped images lying about with some interesting, but totally impractical and nigh on impossible little additions. Two of these hoaxes made it into industry press.

That's definitely a mockup and I highly doubt they'd bring out a sheet of paper with confidential stuff on it for that. Unless of course they are completely incompetent.

Or, they are extremely clever and hoping it'll leak, sort of back door tapping up or bluff as LR suggests?

Given our clubs poor (non-Pozzo internal) transfer history, this email might be a way of scaring off our rivals so we can purchase the player more cheaply.

 

No clue who that guy is. Majority of the players come from this agency: https://www.transfermarkt.com/caa-base-ltd/beraterfirma/berater/674. Rose and Chalobah are also their clients, as well as Obbi Oulare and Fernando Llorente(if I remember correctly we were linked with him before). So imo those are players that an agent offered to us, rather than our targets.
