Why is it only us to seem to have an injury each game? It's getting past a joke now. You don't see any other side being so heavily wrecked with injuries and have to play their fringe players week in week out. They are never short term either are they? I don't blame players for getting injured I am sure it's never done with intent, but i've never known a season like it. We're into November - we have almost an entire first 11 out. It's going to get to the point that we will have to mix our under 18s in with the first team at this rate regardless of skill just to fufill our fixtures. Absolute state of this club at the moment.
Don't see it personally. Despite our inconsistency I can't recall any player not giving their all, pulling out of challenges etc. 3 wins out of 4, I'd imagine everyone would want to be out on the pitch at the moment
You can't accuse Choudhury of not putting himself on the line - the guy runs round the pitch diving in to challenges like a loon!
I don’t mean it so much as ‘on the pitch’. More that there perhaps is a culture that the club and players aren’t prepared to play through niggles or minor injuries. I’m not saying that’s a fact - merely saying it’s something that’s been true in the past so wouldn’t shock me if it was happening again.
I think it's more likely that our pre season preparation was inadequate. Not enough emphasis on building up fitness. That lines up with Bilic's comments so far, and our abysmal injury record.
I'm all for players playing through the pain barrier, but ultimately what's the point in playing somebody that has a niggling injury? We've done it a few times this season and we've been left in a worse situation.
Because you won’t always be left in a worse position and when you have a depleted squad, sometimes you need players to do it? You can disagree, I don’t mind. And I could be wrong. But time and again we put together squads with weak characters and I don’t personally believe we have got rid of that yet.
I wonder who will get injured tomorrow night? This club is a farce, people will argue that injuries are just unfortunate and part of the game. However, we've been in this position multiple times over the last few years and the club seem unwilling or unable to do anything about it. If the medical staff are underperforming then replace them with better staff. If the players aren't physically capable of coping with a 38 or 46 game season then don't sign them. Either way it all falls on Pozzo who is failing the club again.
Totally agree WT. Far too early in the season we were forced to make subs due to some of our players running out of steam. We just appeared very undercooked fitness-wise from the off. Bilic spotted that very early and wasn't afraid to go public. I think the earlier arrival of 'Call me Rob' Edwards signalled a lazy and matey regime that quite a few of ours were too ready to embrace after Uncle Woy had installed his go as you please regime several months earlier. 'Call me Rob' was suckered into thinking the talent/big names would sort out the results. And he himself seemed to be carrying a bit too much timber when the club released training footage. I daresay he didn't quite care for Dale Vince's Forest Green vegi burgers and was probably moonlighting in Watford's Greggs on a regular basis from the off. Naturally I speak from a position of strength in this department you understand . Suck it in Rob!
He's also not injured and has hardly missed a minute since he's arrived. Might actually do him some good to put his feet up for a change!
Obviously Choudhury having to take an enforced rest isn't necessarily the worst idea in a vacuum, but it's much more impactful to us in our current/perpetual state as a poorly-constructed squad that's also full of crocks. We have no replacement capable of doing what he does, even though what he does is hardly either rocket-science or carried out at Messi-levels of quality. The idea of Edwards not having prepared the players enough fitness-wise is an interesting one, because the eye test throughout the season seems to suggest it's almost undeniable, and yet weren't his Forest Green side known for being fast, dynamic and hard-running?
The injury record and general fitness of the players over the last five years is definitely down to Rob Edwards. Glad we've got that sorted.
Good evening 'Ornets! One of our own forum members has linked this thread to ours as is normal practice.. The CCFC forum mentioned in your opening post is generally known as "The Dark Side". This one is where the posters with a sense of humour can be found. https://cardiffcityforum.com/threads/cardiff-city-v-watford-wed-2-nov-19-45-match-thread.22426/ Feel free to pop over and chew the fat. We may be inconsistent on the field this year, but you can tear up any notes you have on Cardiff City from previous seasons. This is a period of transition for us, but so far we played better against the better teams and tended to struggle against the strugglers.
Interesting to read this, as Rob Edwards was much fancied to take the reins at Cardiff. It looks like Mark Hudson will get the nod now, though.
If we get out of Wales with a point or more it will be a phenomenal result with the team we will be able to put out. Nevertheless I've predicted a win for us which says more about my prediction skills than anything else!
Cardiff have kept five clean sheets at home this season and only failed to score in two home games. The best we can hope for is 0-0 but it is much more likely to be 1-0 to them.
Knowing our chumps one of them will pick up an injury pressing the tv remote too hard during the WC or something.
Thanks for the link. I read in that thread that the one I linked isn't the common one? Not sure as generally I thought Google listed the websites by trend something. Anyway, nice to get a visitor from the opposing side. Best of luck tomorrow night, as you probably know we are decimated with injuries but still have some talent on show. Should be a good game.
Interesting that Cardiff fans see their team as one that does better against good teams but struggles to break down the poorer ones. Sounds a bit like us. And since we are a good team and they are utter garbage, this does not bode well for our team of superstars.
