Half the Championship were after him, but Leeds are such a massive club he just couldn't turn the opportunity down. Thank you for everything Lloyd.
I just don't get the hatred for Dyer. it all seems to have stemmed from an 'attitude' issue which I thought had all been explained as being a misunderstanding. Good luck Lloyd, I hope you get a fairer hearing wherever you end up.
I don't have 'hatred' at all, and I don't think he was as bad for us as people make out (not difficult though). However he is on substantial wages which vastly outweigh his contribution to the team, and therefore I'll be happy he has gone. If he cannot make the first team for Birmingham, he has no chance here this season.
While he might have got an "unfair hearing" from the fans, a long succession of managers seemed to deemed him not good enough. At the same time these same managers have advanced and demoted other players all round the squad. I don't hate him, but let's not ascribe his lot in life to some sort of political agenda. He's not good enough. How good he *thinks* he is isn't terribly relevant - unless it affects his work rate, his training ground habits or his relationship with his teammates and the staff. Unfortunately for him, he had one very visible incident where that was the case. Three or so managers later, I don't think that has a lot of relevance.
Apparently Birmingham still want Fabbrini. Daily Mail reporting they are prepared to bid £1.5m for him. Obviously depends whether Boro are prepared to end their loan deal earlier.
Lloyd Dyer is the worst transfer we have ever done, 4 millions in wages at least on a crap ageing lower league journeyman, getting paid off halfway through his deal so he can pick up more money elsewhere. At least Ellington played for us for a bit and when he did he didn't tell the manager to ***** off in front of everyone. imho the worst thing the Pozzo's have done is not sack Dyer after the Rotherham game, they could have saved a fair few million.
Can you sack a player i.e. cancel his contract for that though? Everyone makes mistakes even the Pozzos & I'm sure they know Dyer was one. I'm just not sure that allegedly swearing at the manager would stand up in court
If I said that to my manager in front of all my work colleagues I reckon my p45 would come post haste..
Yea, me too. I'm not sure the same rules apply to a professional footballer though. They've all got water-tight contracts & expensive lawyers. Even the mouthful he gave Slav in front of the cameras at Flam wasn't enough to get him booted out, which proves the point somewhat.
You could be right, perhaps that is why Gino didn't go down that route, they probably thought they could just sell him but it seems he would rather pick up the money and who could blame him. He probably picked up more during this contract than he has during his entire career combined as I cant imagine when Leicester got him off MK they put him on that much money. Praps Nani was sacked instead for doing deals like this..
You think he's on £25,000 a week? There was no 'mouthful in front of the cameras at Flam'. The only people to ever claim there was were a few of the anti-Dyer lot for whom a 5-0 away win wasn't exciting enough so they had a puff that load of nothing up. 3 seconds of footage and they'd all made their minds up. Hilarious.
Yes he joined us on big money in the Championship which is reason he left Leicester and he would have got a pay rise built in with promotion like all the players. Id be surprised if Dyer is on less than 25k a week, probo more.
Might be completely wrong but other than the young pros in the squad I doubt anyone is on less than 20k per week including the likes of Hoban and Murray, id think Dyer is on north of 25k.
You'd think he must be pretty keen to go out and get some football wouldn't you? But don't think anyone has come in for Dyer even as a potential loan move...
I know clubs are different but as an example.... Aiden McGeady is on 17k per week @ Everton and he's been in the premiership for a few seasons now. The only reason I'm aware of this is that 17k wages were impacting the chance he had of moving back to Celtic. I'd be very surprised if the Pozzo family are paying Lloyd Dyer anything close to 25k In My opinion I'd guesstimate he's on about 12k which most would consider to be a fair wedge.
Deeney is rumoured to be on 40k so Dyer at 25k seems plausible. He came from a team who just won the Championship and turned down a Premier League contract to come to Watford. It would have to have been a competitive wage. At the very least he would have had some serious bonuses in place for promotion.
Didn't wolves want him on loan in the summer? If so let's just drop him off outside their training ground and speed away. We can even put a bow on him with a label that reads "Happy belated Christmas, no return policy is included in this gift."
That twitter thing on the side of this website, it links to a Sky source saying we will cancel the current loan as he isn't happy not playing at Boro and Birmingham want him to replace Demarai Gray
I shall miss him, even though he hasn't been here this season. I will miss most his cheery little wave as he walked past The Rookery, carrying his satchel. Good luck Diego!
