Bilic has enough nous and experience, I would think, to organise this squad better. But there is so so much to be done that it would take time. Edwards had 10 games. A fair number of the players are under-achieving, but the defence are mostly not up to it; they are simply not good enough. So we need new, better defenders in during January. The season will be lost by then, of course, but maybe that could save us from relegation. Most likely none of this is going to happen.
Putin is an apt comparison IMO. The way Gino has run the club and continues to make wildly idiotic decisions that everyone else can see are insane, is comparable to Putin's farce in Eastern Ukraine and the Russian media.
Not sure if anyone is listening to the DNSYE podcast right now, but say what you want about Uncle Roy - brilliant assement and hat's off to him. Real passion in that rant and I think he spoke for the fanbase in how people are feeling right now.
Woah there! These players are MORE than good enough for this level. They broke a league record just 2 years ago! The idiots calling for them to be upgraded in the summer instead of signing useless tut like Bayo, Manaj and Gaspar need to be careful what they wish for. We could be bankrupt by now under different owners instead of having to wait 3 more years.
Would he even be there? Reckon Duxbury would get sent up north and he'd stay in London? I mean as someone there was it worse than the away performances under Edwards that Pozzo said weren't good enough? Wednesday was probably the worse home performance....
Nope, it wasn’t even long balls. We basically huffed and puffed for 25 minutes and probably shaded it without ever really forcing their keeper into a save. Then slowly dropped backwards and ended up conceding two goals that were due largely to defensive ineptitude.
Whoever the manager is, there is a sad reality we need to face up to that this squad is actually not promotion quality and our so called 'stars' such as Sarr, Davis, Asprilla, Kamara, JP (when he wasn't injured) are just Champo level like the rest. Sema been best player so far this season and that tells you everything, despite him getting floods of abuse whilst others are protected from criticism. All of them are about as consistent as a chocolate teapot. Which players do we have in our team that we can actually rely on to put in a decent shift every game at least? Only a couple spring to mind. Disappointing from the players and from the Pozzos who have not built a team that can consistently challenge for promotion, especially in regards to the backline which is mid table or relegation quality.
Sorry to hear that. Hope your kids aren't too traumatised. I'm as furious about the team and the club as anyone (Except @NathWFC possibly) but I'd never let it get to the stage where it caused kids some serious stress or fear.
All jokes aside, this defeat & performance is the one that is actually quite concerning and defenceless because Blackpool are genuinely one of the poorer teams we were meant to be facing this year. Scary!
A squad completely bereft of confidence/motivation, and in Kabasele's case, ability. Look at the track records and careers and Blackpool's line up, compared to ours. We have a squad filled with top flight experience, players subject to £20m bids, full internationals. Blackpool's is full of Championship/League 1-level cloggers and they taught us a lesson. Because they wanted it more. Because they sprinted to close down, because they launched themselves at loose balls and didn't bottle challenged. The results won't change until the mentality changes. I've said it before but if players are shown in no uncertain terms that if they give up for a few games, the manager will take the hit and not them, where's the motivation to succeed?
Doesn't help half of them are injured or carrying knocks. Have we played what might be considered our best team at any stage? Sema, Pedro, Sarr, Davis,Louza all in one game. Then there is the defence - a mess anyway at the best of times but even worse with endless changes and fitness issues. I mean least people like Mariappa and Doyley were generally fit in the Championship even if not great. This lot cannot keep fit for a game it seems.
Mental ability is just as much part of talent as technical ability is. Been plenty of players with absolutely insane technique and skill that never made it to a high level because of poor mental qualities. Not something you can take for granted and just assume the squad will gain it as some never do.
I can’t bring myself to slag of the Pozzos , but reality is they don’t have the cash to do it properly, they want to be PL but on mid table championship money
I was gonna say that was a poor simile, but on reflection, we do have consistently useless perfomances from many, as you'd get from trying to brew tea in a pot made of chocolate
If they were "billionaires' it would not make much difference really. Look how well Udinese are doing now. It's very, very clear where their priorities lay right now.
Bilic saying we were 2nd best in desire and passion basically. https://mobile.twitter.com/androofrench/status/1578782666660478977
I can't bring myself to blame Gino for choosing to spend close to 20m on Bayat scams for the past 2 windows, instead of actual players we need and for bringing in, then sacking Edwards and reinstating Giaretta in a bloody minded act of despotism.
Then they should spend the limited funds on players who will improve the team and not buy Bayat tat for inflated prices.
One of the best squads in Championship history though right….right? (Sorry, if I didn’t do it, someone else would have!)
I'm glad we only suspended your BWO membership in the summer instead of withdrawing it completely. You've been successfully rehabilitated.
Does anyone really care anymore? The players and owners don’t seem to so why should the supporters? Time after time the areas that need improving have been neglected, with them instead choosing to spend all our money on “superstar” players who have one good game every once in a while. It’s not good enough and hasn’t been for YEARS. But they don’t care Nothing will change until Gino is out
Yes, a lack of cash is the excuse for Gino's mind blowing levels of painfully obvious incompetence, negligence, arrogance and bizarre Mogi Bayat dealings.
