I'm a computer scientist so solving problems/puzzles is my forte' Anyway, it's lovely to have you mingling with the supporters in a digital concept so to speak.
Is that an anagram, starting letters of words or what you said when you slammed your fingers in the door frame?
Just seen that the Podders are now being featured in official adverts to flog the club’s merchandise No wonder they see the situation as ‘nuanced’
Are we really that stapped for cash that Gino is getting fans' to flog stuff from the club shop on social media now?
I’m sure you realise that there are a minority here and everywhere that will happily shoot the messenger. That’s the wonderful online world we live in. And as crap as that is, it’s also worth noting that the majority are decent people and will appreciate the work you do.
As Oli Phillips used to say to me, making most of the people happy most of the time is the best you can hope for. You need to worry when you’re making nobody happy all of the time!
You don't ask any difficult or uncomfortable questions anymore. Ok, you have a difficult job. Stay in touch with the club so you have something to print or royally piss them off by asking the real questions we want to know the answers to. We can't always get what we want, but at least try. Again, not easy.
But you obviously still pay to read the articles.. TBF seen him write some damming match reports and some pieces criticising people at the club but yes you are right- has to be careful to some extent as we all do in our job .
Bearing in mind the owner won’t talk, and Ismael is now the ‘talking head’, what would you want asked? In the last few weeks I’ve asked Ismael if his job is at risk, if the club is in a relegation battle, why he dropped Martins, etc. I asked him to explain what happened with Manga, what he thinks of Giaretta, if he was let down in the summer window (and there’s more of his interview to come). There were a room full of fans sat facing him at the fan forum, and there weren’t too many tricky questions that night! And as for the earlier one with Pozzo…. (By the way, I’m pretty sure the WO would run the post on here from Enjoy The Game, but we’d need it to be submitted as a letter/email).
Dont let yourself be rattled by the usual suspects and say something they might use against you is my advice, nice to see you around though.
I noticed some of the most vociferous and angry people on here and on Twitter were present that night are still just as angry but failed to say anything on the night.
Given we get gets close to 20k fans at home games, at any one time there are usually 200-400 on this forum, a mix of members/visitors/bots etc, the number of angry fans are pretty few and far between. Most fans are just disappointed that the fantastic run 2012-2019 couldn't be maintained and that much of the decison making over the last 4 years or so looks confused, muddled and generally poor.
I think you’re getting a bit confused, I wasn’t there, but what questions do you think should’ve been asked that weren’t asked? I think the issue you’re getting confused about are fans wasting questions asking about flasks and other such irrelevant matters, do you think the fans asking those questions are the angry ones on here?
I only experienced the Parlaci via Andrew's excellent blow by blow text, but from my memory, it wasn't so much the questions that were poor, it was the way that whatever soft soap answers were given were accepted gladly because Gino was actually speaking. People just openly accepted utter bollox and there were a few who took it as a positive, which was utterly baffling to me, based on the content of the answers.
Yes, the initial questions were fine, the issues were the answers given and then the lack of holding to account. To an extent I can understand that, because we’re talking about fans not professional journalists, so when you have a question ready and you get an answer like “we’ll be debt free in a year’ and ‘it’s all down to the manager and we’re just the right one away from being successful’ I think it would be difficult to process the lies, shake off the incredulity and get your jaw of the flaw ready to ask an appropriate follow up to such nonsense. The main issue are fans wasting questions on irrelevant drivel, but as I stated above those aren’t the angry fans being referred to.
I would like to know if SEJ still intends to “get his hands dirty” or whether that was just the emotion of the night getting the better of him. If he still intends to get involved, how would that look? Directly investing, using his name to attract sponsors, putting together a consortium to buy the club/partly invest or just a figurehead/ambassadorial role.
No confusion. There were a number of people I recognised there, a couple of which are prominent for being permanently angry. One of them in particular is relentless on Twitter for seemingly being incandescent with rage towards Pozzo and Watford and life in general it seems, so when he stuck his hand up for a question I was expecting fireworks. I can't remember what his question was now but if my anger levels towards Pozzo were as high as his I would have deemed that a good opportunity to ask a punchy question face to face in front of an audience, what he asked was meek and irrelevant. My anger levels aren't as high as others - I'm disappointed in the way Watford has gone and I'm also disappointed in the way football has gone generally, so I'm generally becoming more and more disengaged with the game at the professional level. I'm just surprised that those who feel so much stronger about the running of Watford didn't take the opportunity to ask hard hitting questions.
Fair enough, I thought you were referring to people on here and I wouldn’t have a clue what they looked like IRL. Same goes for Twitter, I’d maybe recognise Ucko, but I don’t really go on Twitter as it’s full of idiots so I’d have no idea who these people are. From the live transcript I thought the questions were fine, but as has been said the follow ups poor, but on the face of it I’d given that a bit of latitude as some of the answers were laughable and I could see how that would throw people off. But you were there and recognise these angry Twitter folk, people laugh at the COG moniker, but its very apt for these people if that were the case, reduced to a spineless jelly at the mere sight of their hero.
