I'd be pretty happy with this if it's true, experienced and he's an absolute unit. Unsure as to why Norwich would let him go to us, maybe they don't see us as a threat! Also makes me wonder if Angella or Cathcart has a serious injury. Without one of them and Tamas we're down to Ekstrand, Angella/Cathcart, Hoban and Doyley.
I would be fairly surprised if this happened, but not unpleasantly so. Can't hurt to have another option with Tamas out for the season and all our current injuries. Could certainly see him doing a decent job.
Maybe we're offering to pay a suitably generous fee and to cover his wages which in light of FFP Norwich feel they have to take?
After having a zillion centre backs, we're now down to the bare bones. Belkalem is loaned out for the season, Tamas is injured for the season with Carthcart and Angella recovering from more minor injuries. We're only left with Ekstrand, Hoban and Doyley. It would make perfect sense, to bring in a very good and experienced centre half on loan for 3 months.
If Cathcart and Angella will be back after the international break would this loan suggest a change to 3 at the back? I thought the defensive position we'd need a loan in would be at full back.
I heard from some one who works at carrow road that he had been under investigation for match fixing. If that is so and he has been cleared+he's sorted his head,he would be a good signing. Maybe Italian owners are more relaxed about these things?
I had thought that championship clubs were only permitted to take loans from premiership clubs outside the official transfer window. Have the rules changed? Also, it seems bizarre that norwich would give us a dig out, given the circumstances.
Played consistently in the Premier League for most of his career and captained Norwich there. As far as emergency cover goes, that's quite a coup I think.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29464971 "I'll never close the door on any player," Adams told BBC Radio Norfolk. "I watched the Southampton game and I thought Seb was one of our best players. Professional, disciplined - everything you want from him. I'll tell him that." Seems odd after saying he still has a future at the club. I'd be delighted if it was true, the sort of player we should have been going for in the window. Big strong & good in the air with a lot of experience.
Would be a great signing, still feel we need another left back in all honesty. Would definitely welcome a return to 3 at the back.
Cant see this happening unless we were going to buy in winter window ,on face of it why would Norwich lend him to us in present circumstances?
I think it's more down to the fact that all three of them went out at the same time. Nothing against Josh Doherty or Jorrell Johnson, but I'd rather rely on an experienced centre-back at this point.
sounds a lot like it could be the new identity of a certain Stanmore businessman. It's not worth the risk.
I can only assume that Norwich need to get him off the books and we're probably the only team that wanted him. good signing, league experience and a bit of a unit.
Fair point as an ex prem player prob on high wages maybe cut their wage bill if we contribute a sensible amount.
Let's not forget that this is the Daily Fail reporting this. Also, even though we've spent next to nothing on transfer fees this summer, doesn't mean we haven't spent the same on wages. I highly doubt we can afford Bassong's wages
This would be a great signing. Our back four is certainly missing a leader and he has all the attributes to be a great signing.
Unlikely they'd loan him to a promotion rival for such a small amount. I'd say the fees would be considerable and possibly with further options for both him and us. (forgive the stupid hour, I have a sweet shoulder pain keeping me wide awake)
