yet...i just put a thread on that as well..lol....typed slightly quicker Yep, and now leaves Villa and Tottenham to fight it out.....thats if hes interested in leaving at all..
he is not even worth half of that for him to turn down that sort of move says something to his loyalty, I hope. If any player is loyal to watford fc its ash lets just hope it dont get to tempting. I cant see the chance of villa or spurs having a factor on him snubbing west ham.
Bah, this is bad news. 10m for him was awesome business. I hope his snub of WH doesn't mean the others think they can get him on the cheap.
Good for Ashley, if he didn't even want to discuss terms and see what they had to offer, he is either a) totally loyal or b) holding out for Spurs or Villa.
It's the right decision for him if he wants to break into the England squad, it wont help him sitting on the bench. On the other hand I'm sure that the wages on offer would have been good. Shows he's a footballer first foremost.
This could end up costing us a lot of money. I just hope he's serious about staying and isn't going to have a change of heart midway through next season and end up leaving under a cloud for a third of the price. Anyone who thinks we'll get that kind of offer again after this January is barmy!
Fair point. Choice: 1 bench warm at a club that will likely be relegated for a little more cash but no exposure and reduced chances of an England breakthrough. Also not a wonderful atmos. 2 First Choice at a club with and close to family, which is likely to be relegated however will mean exposure due to playing and have a better chance of England call up, also a good atmos, a little less cash. Choice 2 for me. I s'pose choice 3 would be bench warm at a top prem club for more cash and a bit of exposure, then it may be a bit more difficult to call.
I am still surprised that he did not even want to talk terms - even if he had no intention of leaving for WHam. I think that it is always interesting to know what is on the table. I think he would prefer to go to Villa and probably not Spurs but, as far as we know, no other team has been that close to W Ham's bid.
We'll never be offered 10million for him again after January. I hope he has his eye on one of the other interested clubs.
Once again I'll side with the minority and say that Im overjoyed he has declined a move to the Spammers. Alongside Mahon, He's been our best player all season and when you're fighting relegation, the last thing you do is sell your best or better players I digress..... ive been miserable all day with the thought of Ash going and watching £10mil dissappear into someones pocket with the usual "weve got debts to pay off" excuse trundled out again and again. I want Ashley Young to stay. F*** the £10million.... we're financially secure and therefore dont need it. We cant seem to spend any money anyway seeing as no one of any worth is willing to join us so whats the point of bringing in another £10million I say Ash develops into the player all the top clubs thinks he's going to develop into, we avoid relegation and finish in the top 6 next year qualifying for Europe in the process. Then to cap it all off we turn down a £20million bid from Real Madrid! Turn your phone off Ashley, unlike the rest of em I want you to stay!!!!
I agree KingJames!! Ashley (only 21) will get better and better and become a real financial asset in the future, whilst in the meantime, keeping quality in the first team!! Would rather get 20 million for him in 5 years time and 5 years of watching him turn out in the beautifull yellow than flog him now! WHICH I THOUGHT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE ACADEMY!! What a great example then for the academy players... I don't want to hear about.."we wont get 10 million for him if we get relegated, we have to sell him now!" UTTER BOLLOX!! CLASS IS CLASS and CLASS can spot CLASS!! Why did Wenger pay 12 million for Theo?? Because he is CLASS and so is Wenger... he can see the long term benefits!! Ashley if you really want to go, then go... but if you really love Watford, and want to really set a great example to all the players in the academy (especially your brothers) then stay and be a legend for 5 years... and then get the big money move you will surely deserve to the BIG TIME!!! DON'T GO!!.......(yet)
Ash has been nothing short of woeful over past 2 months! He's an average prem player at best, and if he had gone to Wet Pam i'd be extremely happy! To say Ash has been our best player alongside Mahon is just laughable! Shittu? Foster? Bouazza?
No its not.... I understand why you're dissing Ashley, its hard to take i know. I remember when Heidar went, you (bubble) along with many others were glad to see the back of him citing that we played poor football with him in the side and that none of our other strikers played well alongside him and we were better off with the money. Utter rubbish as is your comment on Ash not being one of our best players this season. Sure boozer been a pleasant surprise and ben quite rightly is pushing for England no 1 spot but that doesnt mean Ash's performances have been any worse! Sky Sports backs this up (based on regular appearances) Their average rating.. 6.7 (3rd behind boozer and Foster) Our average rating.. 7.3 (2nd behind Foster) Oh one other thing Ashley Young has played more games than anyone else this season.... Give the guy a break will ya..... im keeping my fingers well and truly crossed that he stays a HORN!!!
oh and another thing Ashley Young is currently the 34 best player in the Premiership according to the Actim Index! http://www.premierleague.com/fapl.rac?command=forwardOnly&nextPage=actimTop100 Meaningless in your eyes obviously!
Firstly you must have me mixed up with someone else, because I NEVER wanted to see HH go! He kept us up in his last season and is one of the reasons why we're not in League One!!!!! I thought our style of play was ok under Lewington (he just couldn't motivate the team and was a rubbish tactician) and Aidy when he first came in! So that wasn't an issue at all for me! I happened to understand why the board accepted the bid for HH because a) he wanted to go and b) he was in his last season and 28 years old, hardly going to get big bucks for him! Rant over! (In fact i don't remember anyone wanting to see him gone) How are we as a club in a position to lose £9,000,000+ on an AVERAGE premiership player! We won't see that amout of money again for Ash! No way! His value will drop drastically! If Ash is soooooooo great then i'd expect a player of his high valuation to be able to make something happen out of nothing! Saturday was a great chance for him to do this but he was arguably the worst player on the pitch! He could do it in the championship and produce moments of brilliance out of nothing at all....can't do it at this level because he's not good enough! FACT
Kinhjames - hi mate - there ar two issues here. 1) - the amount of dosh being offered, we as a club really cannot afford to pass by - Ash is only one player - we need strengthening in every area of the pitch - we could get 3 x £3 million players in and be in a much better postion to stave of relegation than if we kept Ash who is actualy part of the team that has played most of the season and look where we are. 2) - All cerdit to Ash for saying no if he truly wants to stay at WFC - but maybe he has his sights on another club, we'll find out in the next two weeks
Correct, it means nothing to me, he can't cross a ball to save his life, they're always going straight at the keeper or out of play! These sort of stats are misguided! Granted he's made the most crosses than anyone else in this division, BUT what use is that when they're all s**t? Barry is rated as the best defender according to those stats, I could name you at least 10 defenders better than Gareth Barry! Only reason he's up there is because he's scored penalties
I am not dissing Ashley when I say I would like him to go at 10milion squids. I just think that the price is right, and I understand that the club is a business so they are going to accept an offer for a player that is IMO above his valuation.
your exactly right, by seeing ash near the top because of his ridiculus ammount of crosses, it shows how pointless the stats are, seeing as he is one of the weakest crossers of the ball in our team- why anyone would pay 10 million for that i dont no.
Kingjames, please would you not roll out the actim index bollo*ks or the sky sports stats. It's meaningless and nobody really takes much notice of them.
Bubble thats not fact at all..... your statement there alludes to the fact that you think you are more in the know as to level of Ash's ability than Watford, Spurs, Aston Villa and West Ham (amongst others) He can produce, his dip in form is blatantly due to constant barrage of rumours surrounding a poosible move.... he's a shy lad and still only 21 GIVE HIM A BREAK! Are you forgetting his pass to Marlon V Fulham which led to Kings goal.... sheer quality.... there arent many players in the Premiership capable of that He's known for some time that clubs would come in for him hence his dip in form...... his ability though in my eyes is without doubt and if we REALLY want to be the Top 10 club that Audy Boothroyd says we're going to be, we'll hang on to him regardless of the money Personally I think we've all been taken for mugs by the club, especially the board. I reckon Simpsons going utterly bonkers that Young hasnt signed for West Spam Further to that, I think Aidy Boothroyds grinning from ear to ear and loving the fact Ash has stayed. Watch when Ash ultimately goes for less to Spurs or even Arsenal..... It's then that we'll see a change in attitude from Aidy Boothroyd and by the end of the season, Boothroyd himself will also be gone. Back to square one, Champiobship football at the Vic, 0-0 draws at home with Southend BUT lovely new leather chairs in the clubs offices!!!
If we could get £3million pound players in we would have done so in the summer and we would have done so already this month. Fact is we cant so why sell??? Everyone seems so keen to cash in but seeing as we've spent f*** all so far with the excuse that.. "no-one will come.." why bring in extra revenue???? How about Ash stays, and just like v Palace away...... is the difference in the second half of this season between success and failiure. The club have performed a masterclass in how to promote then flog your best player as quickly as possible these last few weeks. Hell theyve even updated Youngs profile on the official site to big him up just a little bit more. THIS CLUB HAD NO INTENTION OF STAYING UP THIS YEAR. IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND HOW MUCH THE DIRECTORS COULD MAKE FOR THEMSELVES IN THE ALLADDINS CAVE OF THE PREMIERSHIP. I HOPE ALL DEALS FALL THROUGH AND ASH STAYS AS I KNOW THE BOARD WOULD BE UTTERLY DEVASTATED!
Christ, where do I begin? If I think i'm in the know regarding his ability you seem to know what Ash is thinking, not to mention Simpson and AB! You claim Ash's dip in form is down to constant rumours? Bollox! It's because he goes missing from games and he's not good enough at this level to play for a top club! I have no doubt in the next few years he will be good enough but let's face it, he won't be here to show it so why go cockahoop when he decides he wants to stay? Am I forgetting the pass he made for King's goal against Foolham? No absolutley not, great ball and i have said countless times he's better playing behind the striker rather than the wing (because he can't cross)! I could however name you a HUGE list of premiership players that could do that aswell! It was hardly Pele-esque was it? What about Bouazza's cross for Young's first against Fulham? Great ball, he's made less crosses than Ash this season but i bet they've been of better quality! I think you're just blinded by your hate for the board (sound like one of those ******s off of BSaD) and can't see what's good business and what isn't! Simpson has done a remarkable job for the club and it's largely down to him that we're having this conversation! Time to drop the anti-board mode and take those rose tinted specs off my friend!
