It's all doom and gloom here understandably, but come on people, let's have a bit of cheer! Let's hear what you think we have to look forward to as a football club!

For one, I think Asprilla will be mint, clearly he won't be here forever, but I reckon we get one season out of him where he lights up the division

We have Manga and Co …. We will have another new manager in the summer - who, with blind hope, I assume will be a Manga appointment and he will get the season at least. We will see the back of a number of players who don’t want to be here. And my god next season we will see a new, committed, motivated team in the pitch ….. even if it is less talented ….. oh and we will have some new investment, maybe new owners in an Elton John lead consortium !!
I am not sure I believe any of the above but trying to be positive !!

We should get a good deal for JP in the summer to hopefully help any rebuild under Ubenga. Morris will get better and Adeyemo. Porteous will be a good signing. Asprilla is the next big talent though fingers crossed.

It does all seem a bit gloomy. We do need to build a team around Asprilla, he’s a very exciting talent . I think he can be better than Joao Pedro . He needs to work on his finishing ( which I suspect is more around composure than technique ) and bulk a bit but his decision making and ability to play that killer pass is better than Pedro’s.

The question is can we get a team around him functioning so we can see the best if him?

Not overly convinced that Asprilla will be here next season and if he is, I’d imagine it’ll be a Udinese sell/loan thing pending the EFL’s conclusions.

Things I am looking forward to:

    • Gino leaving
    • AFC Watford (not impossible)
    • Helena Costa as head coach
    • Deeney returning in a #2 role
    • Us getting bought by a decent owner(s), who put the club and the fans' first before any other selfish desires
    • Our club identity back
    • No more debt
    • Becoming a stable PL side one day, even if we doss around midtable with the occasional flirt with Europe.
    • Emma Saunders back as the SA. :)

I highly doubt any club is getting their identity back.

Even the "successful" minnows like Brentford, Brighton and West Ham have sold their souls. Give me Boleyn and Griffin Park any day.

At least, thank god, we still have our stadium.

here’s some stuff for the credit column:

    - We have a manger that knows the division well and has been promoted before.

    - The Championship is inherently crazy. Anyone can beat anyone and 2/3 wins gets you right back in the playoff picture. We’re not out of it yet (even if way we play shows otherwise….)

    - even if Pedro and Sarr go (they will…), we have a core of a very good young team: Ngakia, Ferreira, Porteous, Kone, Asprilla, and even TBD if he’s ever fit. Toure, Baah and Hungbo will only get better too.

Whilst he's undoubtedly been very bright and is for sure a talent, I'm not convinced that what he's done so far compared to what we'd ask in a fee would match up. I reckon with JP likely off in the summer, Asprilla will be a key player for us next season - if he starts banging in the goals and getting the assists next season, then the vultures will start circling.

We royally ****ed up during the pandemic break, but if there's one good thing that happened during that time, it's Joao Pedro bulking up, he really looked much more ready for senior English football than before that break

Depends on the financial situation of course but I don't think clubs will look at Pedro and think he's worth the money we will be asking for - other than that, honestly no.

This is all unfounded, but I feel lies within the realms of possibility.

    A summer clear-out
Manga is given complete control of all key footballing decisions.
All player trading fitting in with the needs of the head coach. I don't care who the head coach is, as long as the thought process is aligned from the top to the playing field.
New investment and SEJ getting involved.

Now here are a couple of unlikely things, but still might happen.
    Gino speaks.
Retaining Pedro and Louza, then building a squad around these two.
  17. "We can still catch Brentford".
Can't see any reason for positivity, sorry.
I think the champ is a really exciting league to be in but don't think we have great prospects in it given the current squad and finances.
Manga is a positive, but I assume he joined expecting us to be involved in a promotion battle and/or new funds for him to invest. I don't think he will get either and doubt he will be here in 12 months given that, and the internal politics he will face.
Still, 150 years ago we didn't even have a team to support.

    Causes for positivity;

-A season in which we didn't get relegated
-We have bought some central defenders (at last)
    -Our pitch is lovely
    -I like the murals
-We only had 3 managers so a relatively stable year
