Andros Townsend - Newcastle

Not sure why are people are so against him. Think he would be an excellent signing and more importantly would hit the ground running, whereas your Iturbes, Perottis, Baldes generally need a good 6 months to settle.

Anyway we are rumoured to be after him along with Newcastle, Villa, Muff etc etc etc

His attitude has changed a lot since he was here. Commonly known his Dad, who is big influence on him, took him aside and had words after a meeting with WFC coaching staff about his attitude.

True. Well weve seen already from the Iturbe affair that if the players attitude isnt 100% QSF wont be approving the deal.

Can I just say, that the casual pre season rumours about Capoue were he was slow and lazy.

Six months later and hes covered more kms than nearly all other EPL players so far this season.

 

That's the thicko Spuds fans for you. One of them even said it on their forum on Sunday after watching him play in the Liverpool game!

 

Like Grealish almost managed, this is just an average player who managed to trick Hodgson into giving him an England cap purely on the back of a few high profile goals, a bit of media attention and very little else.

 

So basically, I don't think his level of talent outweighs the significantly likelihood that he's a bit of a prat.

 

But isn't his recent exclusion from the Spurs side down to his attitude (that's what I've heard as the reason anyways)?

A month ago I was desperate to sign a winger but seeing Jurados improvement and Abdis immense work rate in recent games has made me think otherwise.

Pace is always good, but not the only way to crack a nut.

 

We have pace, doesn't help when everyone else doesn't. How many times have we seen Anya run like a headless chicken only to have half the team still at the half way line!

 

I think Anyas problem is he doesnt know what to do when hes got the ball at his feet, which is rather unfortunate for a footballer.

 

Maybe but TBF when he got his chance some of his England performances were excellent. Looks a very decent player IMO, if his attitude stinks I've no doubt Flores will suss it out & we won't be buying

 

I would really like this to happen, a loan to buy would be my preference, his ability to cut in and shoot from the right flank would make us more dangerous. I think our weakness is that although Jurado and Abdi are good players they are not those who will take players on so having another option like Townsend would be a great option.
I hoped Anya would be that player but he isn't that great at crossing or shooting but is a good player to have due to his versatility, pace and work rate imo.

If we get Townsend id be much happier than if we had got Iturbe.

If we are seriously after him that would be 2 pieces of terrible transfer news in 24 hrs. One trick pony as said above. Would add nothing to the team and take plenty away from it.

My thinking exactly. Also this "can hit the ground running" is rubbish. He will not be match fit as not played. Hope this does not happen

 

My mate's a spurs season ticket holder and thinks he's absolute rubbish. No goals, cuts in and shoots off target all the time, crossing's poor - although he does seem different for england.

 

The "crosses" were probably mis-hit shots

I think he is a one-trick one-foot pony, however maybe the problem is he's never been 'coached' properly. Look at Lord Abdi, who'd have thunk he would be such an effective 2 way player.

Maybe Townsend has realised sitting on the bench or left out of the matchday squad has made him grow up a little and is prepared to knuckle down and work hard. Maybe QSF is the person to develop him into a 'player'.

The kid has pace and skill to frighten defenders, there's obviously a talented footballer in there somewhere so if we were to sign him, I wouldn't be too disappointed.

 

Nah. Would be underwhelmed by this signing.

 

Andros could be our new Nathan Ellington.

 

Tbf my mate said Gomes is a cult hero and will get a great reception, and said that Capoue never got a chance and was a bit unlucky.
