Are you going through some bad times at the moment? Did you expect DG to stay? If you did expect him to go, how much did you expect the club to get for him?

Everything is far more transparent than it has been for years. It may not be pretty, but everyone knows where we are at.

 

I agree 100% with Bubble's posts.

Nobody in their right mind would have expected DG to be here next season. It's always been and will always be the case, that when we have players whose stock has peaked, we have to sell, from JB, to Ash, to DG10 V2.0 TURBO.

So we're going to sell DG, though the price could maybe be 500k more, but getting 1m for Buckley is pretty good business.

Let's wait and see. If we do get players in, who are "rough diamonds" along with one or two older, leaders (Philips) then I think we're in good shape.

We wouldn't get £500k for Loach now.

I said we were farking morons for not taking the £2m and laughing all the way to the bank at the time.

If the club were still banking on getting £2m for him in the summer then they are bigger idiots than I could ever have imagined.

 

DG was always going to go I just expected them to have a bit of patience and get £4 to £4.5million for him. I would concede that £3.5 million as long as it is hard cash paid now is not terrible business.

I think that we might have let Buckley go a year or two too early and that we saw enough of him to realise he could be a real star. I think back to getting the £9.5milllion for Ashley Young and wonder if in a years time Bucko might be worth 3 or 4 times what we have got.

I disagree that we are transparent but only time will tell.
It is not pretty and we are in for a few years of difficult decisions and we will always be a selling club. I just hope that they come out and say the money that was offered was too good to turn down and Malky will get some of it.
