What I find a little disturbing is the lack of communication from either Malky, GT or Baffooni about the current firesale.Does the lack of any real statement show a lack of unity? Fine with players being sold but tell us the facts. Are players being sold purely to balance the books? Is the money offered to good to turn down? Are we trading early to give MM time to find replacements? Is the thought that our youth can replace the outgoing players? no statement = trouble at Vic
It's the lack of communication that worries me most to be honest. There will only be one outcome from Bas' reign.
It's still early, so dont worry just yet. Buckley was only sold about an hour ago, and DG has not yet gone "officially". I'm sure a statement and collection bucket will be forthcoming soon.
We officially sold 1 player about an hour ago. Let's at least give them some time before the panic sets in.
Ok a bit of an exaggeration, but Two in 24 hours. At that rate we wont have a squad by the end of the week and Baffooni can afford to open another Restaurant with his mum.
I don't think I've ever seen a more open statement regarding the selling of a player!! From the official site: http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2371997,00.html WILL BUCKLEY has this afternoon signed for Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee of £1million. The Hornets and the Seagulls agreed the deal, which also includes a sell-on clause for Watford, meaning they would receive 15 per cent of any amount above £1million should Albion sell the winger in the future. Buckley cost an initial £200,000 from then League 2 Rochdale in January 2010. Appearance clauses in his contract meant that this figure eventually rose by a further £39,000. Dale's sell-on clause, built into the deal which brought Buckley to Vicarage Road, means the League 1 Spotland side will benefit to the tune of 20 per cent of £761,000, the difference between the two sale amounts.
Exactly! Let's be honest, had it been Simpson or CASHton it would have been 'undisclosed' with no information at all!! Very open and honest Mr.Bassini, Bravo! Now give the 600k profit we've made on this sale to the manager to bring in Wiggins, Phillips and Conway! Put the £3,000,000 profit we make on DG back into the running of the club. I'll be happy with that!
Glad Bazzini the bankrupt (we really should find out if he's Bazzini the discharged bankrupt or just plain old Bazzini the bankrupt - don't want to be sued for being factually incorrect) didn't get his hands on my season ticket money!
G.T. said at some point last year that we'd need to develop our own players and/or buy 'rough diamonds' to sell on at a profit so how you've described the handling of the money is just what I see happening. The difference this time around is we're doing business early so hopefully have already been making enquiries regarding replacements. The selling of players should not be a surprise to ANYBODY!
Agreed. If we can sell Loach for around £2,000,000 that would be excellent business, as that's around £1,750,000 profit to us as well after deductions to Lincoln! Keeping Eustace, Taylor and Cowie is more important!
I'd be surprised if there were any more sales to be honest. At least not any of the more key players. While we obviously need to trade to keep afloat we also need a stability on the pitch to keep us in the Championship. Too many player sales in one go would be risky.
He's trying to get Torres from Chivas - the next Hernandez! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...vas-de-Guadalajaras-new-Javier-Hernandez.html
No no NO! You can't post sensible stuff like that because you haven't put enough girly drama into it. You haven't included the word 'firesale' for a kick off - we have sold one player and accepted a bid for another - how clear do you want that it is a firesale! Also, you haven't slated the club for not telling us anything despite the most transparent detail of a transfer this club has seen for years in the Buckley deal. You also haven't slated Bas for not giving everybody a call telling them exactly what the situation is - after all he is paid to do that rather than getting on with running the club through a very important summer, right?
£2million for Loach would be a dream, get £2.5 even better, along with the £3m DG profit thats this years and next years deficit covered in one summer, which mean that next June we won't have to worry about selling any of our youngsters unless its for the right money. Getting a year ahead of your deficit is a dream. Your wrong - the amount of information the club have issued is harmful and damaging. Providing numb-brains with facts and information will only confuse them.
OK you are all correct my post was being a bit over dramatic. Things are all OK after all we have only sold one player and agreed terms on another and the club are telling us exactly how much money has been made in the one deal. Buckley was a bit part player that won't be missed and it looks like we got a fantastic deal on DG where someone will pay well over the odds. Actually I am delighted that they have sold the two dead weights 2 weeks after renewing my season ticket, afterall who wants to see 27 goals and exciting wing play? Not me. Our new owner is obviously a man of substance and high business acumen so no reason to have any concern about the decisions he is making. The plans to relay the pitch, develop the SW corner and the East Stand are now roaring ahead with a clear understanding of how they will be funded. He is just the man that will be able to turn around a perenial loss making business like WFC and make it profitable while paying off millions of debt. The nice thing is that the fans are all behind the new board and the new era of transparency. No need to go on internet forums and get chinese whispered information gathered via interviews with former players and lose lipped club officials. I to do Sarcasm.
