I get some of your points, but massively disagree with saying he has a 'big time Charlie attitude'. He stayed at one club for the majority of his playing career, and even stayed with them (and rallied others to) when they were relegated to Serie B. He married a shop assistant with 12 guests present and I remember how embarrassed he looked when he turned up at Sydney airport to a heros welcome. To me, he seems more grounded than the players we have, and unlike currently, could command respect and bring the players together/ get their egos in check.
Thank you miked2006 finally someone seeing the potential in signing Del Piero rather than just the negatives.
Think he could have done a job for us 10 years ago, but we didn't need him at the time as we had Scott Fitzgerald. Too old to make a real impact now, but will be well supported by Smith and Vydra so may work.
Depends on how he wants his career to continue but as a player/coach (not 1st team trainer) I imagine he would be a solid addition.
The Sydney fans on twitter were split between being glad he left, and appreciating his occasional brilliance due to his age. Would be expensive.
