WD40 now say we dropped interest in Suarez due to his demands for a 5 year deal (he's already 29). The club said "no" so obviously feel they can do a better deal somewhere. Considering we already have 4 good holding MF's, & our league position, I though maybe they line up a deal for someone else in the summer.

...but if Doucoure's available now, great.

 

Don't think Doucoure is a holding player, he likes to get forward. But then if we want an attacking midfielder we have Jurado and Abdi so who knows where he'll fit in? Probably bench and then out on the right wing!

 

At the risk of committing heresy - upgrade on Abdi?

 

Yea sorry I meant CENTRAL midfielder, where have 4 decent ones already. Plus Abdi & Jurado who would probably prefer to be central given the choice. Can he play wide? I have no idea.

In all seriousness yes, Abdi will probably be upgraded for a younger model soon. Don't think it'll be Doucoure though, they seem to have different styles of play. Possibly Sarabia in the summer though. It'll be a sad day.

Doucoure has been a target for us for a while now. We must rate him very highly and therefore it's a yes from me.

 

Says it's just down to the management at Rennes agreeing to sell, so implies personal terms have been agreed. Re the 18 year old keeper, again financial agreement has been reached in principle, but would leave Troyes without a keeper as they've sold their number 1 to Angers so the management have a decision to make.

 

You can't upgrade on Abdi. He will eventually lose his place in the next 1,2,3 years but it will be to a different mould of player.

Yes he is much more Capoue at his best than Abdi, although perhaps more attacking.

Box to box, good energy, quick and strong and can do a bit of everything.

 

Expect, in some order, the words, 'project', 'needs', 'more', 'time' before we see him in the Capital One Cup next season.

 

Abdi might as well be playing in a different timezone as defensive right wing. He should go to Sheffield Wednesday where he'll be given 700 touches and the keys to the city.

like the look of this guy, but I do worry about how our squad is going to be decimated when the ACORN is on.

 

Oh and if his name is prounounce "DoucourAY" with that accent over the e, then how about the song "Volare" for his song. Would be a good and original tune. I can't imagine anyone else is using it.

I'll try and bring this back on track. Around about half an hour ago, Doucoure apparently told Mercato that there have been offers for him but he is "100% Rennes" and that he doesn't intend to leave
