I've thought are season may be over already but then I keep my expectations low to avoid disappointment.

To just write off our chances of beating Wigan is laughable, we're certainly not favourites but anything can happen in this league. I think Wigan will edge it but we've definitely got a chance.

We are playing a team who are better at football than we are. Away from home

So were Yeovil and they turned a 1-0 deficit around to 2-1.

I would have thought that scratching a draw, at home, against the 2nd worst team in the division shows a distinct lack of current form!

The scum are 11 points clear at the top of the Sild Premiership; what odds they lose that lead and we make up the 9 points?

Yeah and we often do alright against the better sides, its the **** ones we can seem to beat! :]]

Apart from Blackpool and Barnsley of course!

And at home not away, but apart from that why cant we win?

I'd rather be pleasantly proved wrong than have raised expectations dashed.

This season we have done poorly against the top sides, we've only beaten Wigan and Brighton of the sides above us in the table

But this season has been split into two. It's the current 'season' that matters.

I don't see it that we have nine points to make up right now. I see it as three.

One weekend where we win and the teams around us drop points. We win our game in hand. Then anything can happen going into the final game of the season. Look at those fixtures!

It's not about expectations. I don't expect to get to the play offs, like I didn't expect to go up automatically but I do believe it's possible, play offs not automatic obviously. I believe we have a chance and I don't believe in just giving up. It's an uphill task as we're 9 points behind but we have a decent team that is fully capable of a very good run. I think we have a chance at Wigan but the way people describe Saturday's game you think we were playing Bayern Munich. They're on a good run but their fans seem to think the amount of games they've had is taking it's toll and as a side second from bottom proved, they are not world beaters. Maybe I'm over optimistic but I would rather be like that than just giving up when there is still an opportunity.

Wigan conceded three against Yeovil in the last 10 minutes.

If that doesn't scream fatigue, I don't know what does.

People wrote off our chances of finishing second last year given the gap between us and Hull. As we all know, we made the gap up and went into the last day with a good chance of finishing second. Had Almunia not been injured in the warm up against Leeds I think we'd be in the Premier League right now.

Beppe has the team doing extremely well at home, no one can deny that. The away form is the biggest issue and my opinion is that the performances on the road haven't been universally as bad as the form might suggest. There is no denying Yeovil was poor, but we were unlucky not to defeat Leicester (a long range snap volley strike from a goal shy midfielder against a very strong wind that could have gone literally anywhere) and were arguably very unfortunate against Donny (10 men for 70 minutes, didn't see their keeper sent off, didn't get a deserved penalty).

We are really not that abject on the road and I think a win will restore the team's confidence, which is where the problem lies. Should we defeat Wigan (and bearing in mind they are fatigued it's very possible) the confidence boost might improve our away form at the very best possible time.

Not forgetting the 2-0 leads away at Manchest City (of all teams!) and Nottingham Forest.

Its the confidence and the metal strenght to cross that line in the lead, not the footballing ability.

I think we have a chance against Wigan, if we keep it level towards the end of the second half.

This is exactly it. Why concede a season when there's still something to play for? The season isn't over. Far from it. I'm not sure when our game in hand is exactly, but I assume it's Charlton away, and if that's the case, then we've got a lot of the season to play before that game takes place and we know where we stand. Could this game in hand be a blessing in disguise? Could we make up 6 points or so between now and then, only to go to Charlton and win and go into the last game of the season with it in our control? Is that really all it is then, just six points? Six points is nothing, considering this time next week those six points could be 3 or... ZERO!

This season isn't over. Even if we lose on Saturday, it matters little as I don't think Wigan will be challenging for sixth place - they'll most likely finish third or fourth. We need to watch on and ensure the likes of Forest, Ipswich and Blackburn continue to slide. The only negative piece to this is that Forest probably have the easiest run-in than anyone in the top ten, but having said that, they're not exactly winning games right now. Plus, this is the Championship. 'Swings' and 'roundabouts' couldn't be more relevant, if one was to make some vain attempt to describe this league.

Our forthcoming home games against Blackburn, Burnley, Leeds and Ipswich can't come quick enough...

Orny, you think if we don't win on Saturday that the season isn't over?

Well I guess that is the difference between what is mathematically possible and what is overwhelmingly likely.

Was it just me that had a mental image of a personal trainer yelling through a megaphone at a Fat bloke trying to exercise when I read that or was it me conscience kicking in again?

Yes but what was the likelihood of Knockers missing that penalty and TD going down the other end and scoring eh?

Are you people that have given up already the same ones that leave a match with 10 minutes to go just because we are one nil down? :]]

Forest losing at the minute. If they lose and we win we will be 6 behind them with a game in hand

It is on. I have no doubt about that. I have no doubt whatsoever that the gap can be closed, but it's down to us. Can we not only get an away win, but build on that and win 3 or 4 on the bounce away, whilst maintaining our home form?

If we win games, the others will drop them. It's down to us. I know technically it's out of our hands, but if we win our games and put the pressure on, we will start to realise that there's every chance.

Of course, if we lose today then pffff.

Forest losing 3-0 at HT. If they continue in such form (4 points in 8 games if they lose today, as quite likely) that looks like one less opponent in the chase to play-off.

Derby are just the 5-0 up again a Forest with 20 to play...

A massive result for Derby today, and an absolute catastrophe for Forest. Definitely the worst result they could have hoped for. Today's games are going to be some very interesting ones.
