Ever since that day I've always remember the 1-12 with the exception of the right back. I always forget the RB for some reason.

I got 8, not bad for a monotreme who wasn't born in 1984.

It was more sort of multi-coloured (with a small touch of brown)

PS The standing tickets were a fiver.. but it was £17.50 to sit. That seems like a lot of dough for 1984.

That was back in the day when sitting was for posh people though, not bloody everyone like now.

How can you forget Bardsley? Great attacking full back.

I don't remember much from the day, but having watched it on DVD since, I was suprised how good a first half we had. The second half is best forgotten. When we were 2 down, Taylor brought Atkinson on for Neil Price. Was this the earliest example of us going 3 at the back?

Blimey 30 years ago this year.

I didn't go to the final ... I had a Saturday job in Clements. They knew I was a supporter and encouraged me to go, as they did for the semi, but I remember thinking the Plymouth game was my cup final and that was good enough for me. They ended up putting me in the menswear dept for the day where they'd put up a giant tv. V good company ... and very happy days.

10/11 .....I forgot Price. Couldn't think of him. Brain had a complete blank because of Rostron's red card!!

I was in Kenilworth Road end when he got his marching orders. This is where my real hatred of Luton Down started. That red card.

We would have won with Rostron playing. I am still convinced of this even now, 30 years on.

We all know the main issue that day was Elton John's glasses.

Stood on the lower terrace and couldn't see a thing but loved the day. Even when I see it now I'm convinced Les Taylors shot is going in. To this day I have hated Andy Gray for the foul on Sherwood.

Watched it on TV in Ireland. Too young and broke to travel. Cried like a male superstar diva after the game. So close to the fairy tale ending for that team. Was the start of the decline for them. Had an irrational dislike for Everton for many years afterwards and an equally irrational regard for Michael Barrymore.

Bought mine face value off an Everton fan on the tube and worried the rest of the way that it might be a forgery ... it was for the Everton end but fortunately I swapped with one of their fans outside the stadium.

Even now I have visions of him being refused at the gate ... and if that **** Andy Gray hadn't fouled Sherwood I'd probably feel guilty about it but as it turned out, Fack'em!

Got 10 out of 11 - Messed up on Lee Sinnott. I could picture his face but couldn't remember his name. That was after typing in Terry, Bolton, and Sims for the two centre half positions.

I remember the day well. I was only 13 and my Dad had failed to get tickets. On the day, he said "come on, we're going to Wembley - I'll buy them from a tout." As it happens, we got in via a scam being run at one of the turnstiles. A fella collected money and then directed us through to his mate on a particular turnstile. Can't remember if it was a tenner or 20 quid he charged us. Then it was surge past the ticket check inside and spill onto the terrace. Attendance at the cup final was always 100k. Sure there was always a few thousand more squashed in. The match itself was a bit of a blur, but I remember we played well 1st half. Some Everton fan wanted to swap my flag for his at the end. I regret that, my Watford flag was bloody great - came from the Hornet Shop when it was on Vicarage Road Precinct. Halcyon days.

To be fair the Evertonians before and after the game were a decent bunch and I got over my dislike of Everton some years ago but I will never forgive Gray the absolute uber ****!

No disgrace that we lost as Everton won the league the season after but was disappointing that we didn't have much of a response after they scored

Highlight then was the Taylor made army chant that just went on and on

Yes a player we paid more via a transfer tribunal they we were asked by his club (Oldham) to pay in the first place, and to cap it all he wasn't very good!

Why can't we get over this? Everton are in the premier league now, we need to move on

Ive never been a big fan of Andy Gray.. but i think us blaming him for that goal over the years is a bit harsh.

It was a mistake by the officials that was really to blame. Any striker worth his salt would have challenged for that ball.

As for the Everton fans.. i threw my classic Wfc cap to one in the lower tier that was indicating we did a swap.. and he didnt throw his back  (but agreed there were generally a decent bunch)

30 years ago and I still f'in hate Andy Gray.

Never forget walking up Wembley way with my old man, 9 years old and full of hope. Been to every Wembley appearance and the only thing that has faded is the hope, still love the venue, still love Watford, just have lower expectations.
