I was sat in the Upper Rous watching it all unfold. I nearly missed the goal as I'd turned around to implore those around me to stop applauding politely after the penalty save.

I was in the lower rous, right near the rookery end. The perfect eye level for Denney's strike. It is still the most surreal 20 seconds of my life to date.

At the time, I was in another world. My daughter has never seen me in such a state in her 25 years. But since the Palace game, it has lost all of it's magic as it meant little in the end.

In fact, it depresses me even thinking about it.

...and the title of the thread is wrong. It should be "1 Year Yesterday" now. :dismay:

What is football without moments like that?

Sure there's no need to get hung up on it (i get a tad fed up myself with the constant re-posting of the footage on Facebook etc) and we need to move on.. but at the same time we need to cherish these memorable occcasions when something special happens.

I also dont think we need to justify every moment by what came next.. should we stop mentioning Endean's goal against Liverpool because we lost 5-1 in the semi final? Ditto Luther's brace at Old Trafford? and maybe both play off final wins are worthless cause they didnt lead to us becoming an established Prem club?

Quite agree - its a moment people will always remember and connect our club with.

It probably rather sums up what has happened since that its brought up a lot even now on the various social media stuff and its unfortunate we've done nothing whilst Leicester went up which makes any gloating now look silly.

Just a shame we didn't turn up at Wembley but as you say we remember the good cup runs and upsets we've caused despite not actually winning anything.
