Bubble you are so right. I have said this before, the number of chances that DG will get in the premiership is a lot lot less, while up against quicker, stronger and better defenders. You only have to look at teh number of forwards who have stepped up and failed to make an impression, Smith, HH, King, Henderson when we were promoted, Bouazzza, Nugent, Chopra, Jason Scotland, Chris Iwelumo and I am sure there are many many more, all either to good for this league or have had sensational seasons in the championship but not good enough for the premiership. Christ we are talking about bloody sky sports, the worlds most inaccurate channel. This is the equivalent to football rumors but on the box. No need to panic just yet
Here's the thing, everyone knows DG will be leaving this Summer and nobody begrudges the bloke a move on up, he's done a superb job for us and I don't know of a single person who has a bad word to say about him or his potential move. Cheers Danny and good luck. The big problem here is that we all know we can get more than £2.5 million for him, and at a time when the club doesn't have a pot to p*ss in, every single £ counts. There will be more than one club sniffing around, so to sell him for the minimum in the contract to the first club that comes sniffing is simple bad business sense, and we ALL know that. That's what everyone is angry about, everything else is complete nonsense.
BBC have not reported anything yet on their gossip page, DG has been widely discussed on our board and the QPR boards, somebody signed up on here under the name of SKYQASLLI on 12-5-05. This could be SKY hoping to get another "you heard it here first". This could be another case off slipslap journalism on slow sports news day relying on Internet ITK claims to create a story.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13468214.stm "Watford have rejected a bid for around £2.5m for striker Danny Graham from QPR, BBC Three Counties Radio reports. It is also believed the Hornets have dismissed more than one offer from Brighton for winger Will Buckley. Graham, 25, is the Championship's top scorer with 24 goals, and has found the net 41 times in 98 games since arriving from Carlisle in 2009. Buckley, 22, a signing from Rochdale 16 months ago, has gone on to make 43 Watford appearances. The Hornets have suffered much publicised financial problems and selling leading marksman Graham would help ease their worries. But boss Malky Mackay has spoken of his determination to keep hold of Graham, and at the turn of the year the club handed him a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months. If Graham were to leave Vicarage Road Carlisle would be entitled to a sell-on fee as part of the deal that saw the frontman move to Hertfordshire. Buckley has epitomised Watford's young enthusiasm this term, playing 37 times as the Hornets defied pre-season expectations by finishing 14th." Good.
Great news. The real question now is if there is a minimum fee release clause and if so how much. Bubble, you can stop being a c*nt now... oh wait clearly you can't.
Graham will go this summer. The club have done the right thing by rejecting that one, QPR have made the first move, now we can wait and see other offers come in, and hopefully create that 'bidding war' we all so desperately want. Really though, QPR can shove their £2.5m... double it and then we're talking buisness with add-ons.
Hahaha 7 pages of whining, complaining and accusations based upon absolutely nothing. As usual, our mate Bas hasn't done anything wrong yet can have 120 anti-Bas posts spring up overnight with the slightest of provocation. Some of you need to stop being so angry all the time, you'll get an ulcer.
Dear Bubbs, Pot_Thingy and the other one Repeat after me..... "Bas/Baz hasn't got any money, he had to borrow the money to buy the club and he'll asset strip it within hours, sell all the players to the first bidder, then do a runner" Repeat until you believe it - that's what all these other turds have done Happy to help Liz x
QPR bid of £2.5m has been rejected according to BBC Sport: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13468214.stm
I think you underestimate the majority of members here Liz. Let the young hot-heads whinge and wail and enjoy it. It's highly amusing. It may turn out they're right in the end but apparently they are unable to form decision based on whatever facts are availalbe and follow like sheep opinions based on fear. One thing is certain - we are currently better off than before he purchased the club as debt repayment plans we had a chance of paying weren't in place as I understand the situation. Ps. Love that turds got through the sensorship
Hopefully this shows that Bas knows what he is doing so people need to get off his back. He's no mug and neither is the board. Everyone knows the clubs not in brilliant form financially but Bas and the others have got money so people just need to calm down.
Only the other backers which must be behind him have money, but I agree that it is a good sign we have definitely rejected bids for 2 of our best players.
I'm one of those with the gravest doubts about Bas, but I've posted nothing here becasue we don't know the contract situation and don't know what's going to happen. Now we know that the first bids have been rejected, we can be cautiously pleased, but let's not start the high-fives until we know the final outcome.
It seems to me that QPR were trying it on, knowing that the majority of the teams who would be interested in Graham weren't sure of their Premiership status until after Sunday, they were trying to get in early!
Can't understand why anyone would be anti-Bas - so what he's not rolling in money, we've been skint for years and have done alright. We have one of the best academy's so we don't have to rely on a huge cash injection to bring in overpaid winkers. Bas could offer a bit of stability to the club, ya never know.
If the club were able to reject a £2.5 million bid, does that mean that the release clause is higher/non-existent?
Not Necessarily. It means that the club have to talk to Danny to see if he is interested, if such a clause is in place and the release fee is reached. Danny could have turned round and told QPR to swivel on his mid digit hence the rejection. Or alternatively QPR might have offered £2.5M and the release fee was "over £2.5M" and for the sake of a penny they've lost out:biggrin:
Or it may be a clause that can only be activated by a Premier League club, which QPR aren't technically yet, or only after the season has finished which arguably it has for us but not for the Football League / Championship as a whole. Or it could be that the £2.5m has to be paid in full to trigger the clause as opposed to installments. And obviously all of these points rely on there actually being a release clause in place and it being set at £2.5m Basically, the possibilities are endless and the only people who know the truth ain't gonna be posting on here.
To the board of QPR and MR Warnock or the next manager of qpr if NW goes to West Ham as the bookies are half heartedly laying odds on.- this is fact actually it's bollix but lets see if the numpty canut can work this out as this is the disclaimer to the fiction being posted - the release clause is £5.25 million and subject to an agreement with the buying club of a 12.5% sell on fee above the 5.25m
http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2363947,00.html WITH the last of Watford Leisure PLC's shares currently in the process of being compulsorily purchased, Hornets' owner Laurence Bassini says he can empathise with fans who paid good money for shares around a decade ago. Watford FC Limited, the company beneficially owned by Bassini, acquired over 90 per cent of Leisure PLC shares 'naturally' (those holding shares volunteered their sale), which meant the company was able to invoke the compulsory purchase of the remainder. It has left some Hornets' fans feeling as though their initial investment was a waste of time, having seen it rendered next to worthless. "I can understand where they're coming from," says Bassini. "Whether you put in £500, £1,000 or quite a bit more back then, it must be very disappointing to see the way the value of those shares has disintegrated. "I do offer my sympathies to those who've effectively lost substantial sums of money simply through pledging their support to Watford. "A lot has happened in those 10 years, but that's not something anyone can affect. I'm firmly fixed on the long-term future of this club. I'm here to invest in what the club will be, not to dwell on what it has been under entirely different ownership." With commitments in place about the provision of working capital for the current season and for repayments to bondholders, Bassini is keen to stress his is no passing interest. He said: "I think Watford's fans will realise there is no quick buck to be made at Vicarage Road. I am not interested in short-terms gains. This club needs some real nurturing to progress towards the goal of sustainability that has been set out before my arrival. "That's what the new Board (once officially constituted) and I will be looking to bring. There will be no executive positions as such, which means no one at Board level or myself will be remunerated in any way for their time." As well as pitch renovation and protection works this season, ahead of a full relaying and levelling in summer 2012, the club is also progressing with other key projects. "Everything takes time, but we're moving forward on matters such as the south-west corner, the PA system, giant screen, the Red Lion and the East Stand," explains Bassini. "Of course this is a key time in terms of player trading, so this is an area on which we're focusing particularly closely over the coming weeks and months." For supporters' further awareness, an application for de-listing from the AIM (Alternative Investment Market) has also been made - a process allowed once 75 per cent ownership is in place. This will save the Hornets around £200,000 per year in associated fees. He definitely talks a good game, maybe he reads through these forums - wfcthroughandthrough?
Brighton fan said on a general forum that: "I have it on very good authority that QPRs 2.5m was entirely based on them staying in the Premier League, which is why it was rejected" How he knows...not sure?
