https://www.watfordfc.com/news/official-samir-joins-hornets Centre back signed from Udinese until June 2025.
Just had a look on fbref to take a look at Udinese’s 19/20 season, last season WTE was there. Ekong started 30 games to Samir’s 21 in a their back 3 system.
I thought all 3 of our new signing did well and I think either Samir or Kamara might have been our Mom, but there again maybe it was Pedro?
Couple of decent left footed hollywood balls though. I think he’ll be boringly average. I’d rather have a clown defender like WTE or Kabasele in there to make the goals conceded funny and entertaining and provide moments like when Kaba slid into the post or sat down for a rest when the game was still going on.
If any of our other CBs made that howler for the first goal that Samir did, we would never hear the end of it. Encouraging start against Newcastle, but that was poor tonight.
He was good first half but yet again an individual mistake costs us. Even if he felt a push from Pukki he has to make sure the ball goes out of play, keeping it alive was criminal. He looks like the best of a terrible bunch but we still need another. If the club decide to prepare for relegation now then we'll probably stick with what we have though.
Come on Samir's new to the team and I think he got unlucky for the 1st goal as the ball hit his leg when he was on the ground which kept the ball in and gave Pukki the chance to cross it for what was a bit of a freak goal as Sargent just stuck out a hopeful leg and got lucky. I don't even blame Bachmann for that goal either, as it was relatively a lucky goal all round that gave him no chance IMO! Having said that I think Samir could have done so much better for the 2nd goal, as could Kiko as when he failed to prevent the cross his mistake was very similar to what Ngakia got a lot of stick for last week. Finally I do think Bachmann should have done so much better for this goal and I think Big ben might well have saved it.
He was injured towards the end of the game, a head injury I believe so lets hope he will be fit to play against Palace as he has been great so far along with Cathcart.
The Norwich mistake aside, think he's been excellent and so far looks an upgrade on what we had before. Balance of the team is so much better with a left footed centre back and a left back that doesn't treat the ball like a live hand grenade.
He deserved MOM for his timewasting at the end. The vision he showed to sit back on his ass while coming off was *********ry at it's very best. Top Mark's for his game management.
He makes Cathcart look like a competent PL defender, which really is saying something. He and Kamara have been very good signings. It's just a shame we didn't buy them, or equivalents, in the summer. It is also a shame that Tufan was so rubbish, as this team is crying out for someone who can play between the lines, link defence and attack and provide a creative spark.
Any chance we can keep him in the Championship? Wouldn't surprise me if there's an agreement where he can go back to Udinese if we do go down, although the fact that they were willing to let him go in the first place gives me a bit of hope
He has been good, but today he was at fault for all the goals. Hopefully it is just a one game nightmare.
Surely the second was Kamara's mistake? But the first had WTE composure written all over it, he's definitely learning from the best. It's just another embarrassing display. Funny thing is we could of and should of clawed our way back into the game but the hopeless looking effort of a winger smashes it wide. Surely put a few million on his pricetag
