I really like Nat Phillips, I think he would be a brilliant signing. He reads the game well has decent positioning and is no nonsense and is very dominant in the air. Sadly I can't see the Pozzo's signing a defender for 12 million even if he would be a big improvement and only 24 years old. I would be over the moon if they proved me wrong though.
Everyone talks these days about limbs and scenes but I can’t think of any that tops that goal. Absolute limbs and scenes everywhere.
Latest from The Athletic: Liverpool defender Nat Phillips is attracting plenty of interest from both Premier League and Serie A clubs. The Athletic understands that Liverpool, who are open to selling the Bolton-born centre-back, have already rejected a bid of £7 million from an unnamed top-flight club. Sporting director Michael Edwards believes they can command more than double that figure with the asking price set at £15 million. Liverpool point to the fact that it’s a similar amount to what Burnley paid for Stoke City’s Nathan Collins with add-ons last summer. The interest in Phillips from Italy was triggered by his outstanding display against AC Milan in the Champions League last month. He suffered a fractured cheekbone during that game but the damage is now close to being fully healed. The 24-year-old has had to avoid contact but he’s been able to maintain his fitness levels by taking part in all other facets of training and his spell on the sidelines hasn’t put anyone off. A host of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, Watford and West Ham United, are in the market for a centre-back this month so Liverpool are prepared to bide their time in order to get the best possible deal. Phillips, who has four years left on his contract having penned an extension earlier in the season, is open to a move in order to secure more regular game time and will consider his options.
Got Newcastle written all over him. Overrated Liverpool player who’s hardly played any games yet the club still want big money for him? Bring on Sir Eddie and THE chequebook!
The article doesn't mention a bid comprising of a load of old buttons, some pocket lint and a signed copy of Deeney's book, so clearly we've not submitted our offer yet.
No. Panic in the accounts department apparently as they're searching for the can of Tizer and the mouldy toffee apple!

I think Newcastle are looking at a higher quality options, think Phillips will be a last case scenario at the end of the window.
That might be not far from the truth, maybe Udinese might want him buy him as a replacement for Samir, and then if he is a success and we retain our PL status he might then possibly join us next season?
Liverpool receive ‘concrete’ Prem approach for unsettled star as asking price drops Watford are making a concrete move for Liverpool defender Nat Phillips under the orders of Claudio Ranieri, according to a report. Date published: Thursday 6th January 2022 5:5 (Teamtalk.com)
Liverpool seem to be able to sell backup players for way more than they're worth. Phillips and Samir would be decent upgrades considering it's the January window but I just can't see us paying what Liverpool want. I can't see them taking a loan deal either, I'm sure other clubs can pay the money for Phillips.
Quite - I guess the caveat would be that when Newcastle spend more money, he may well be right back in the same boat he’s in now at Liverpool. And when West Ham get their CB’s back fit, he probably wouldn’t be first choice there either. We may be his best chance at getting exactly what he wants, PL survival not withstanding.
Yes, the club in the Pozzo group safe from relegation and without a defensive crisis spending £15m on a CB would make perfect sense.
£7m bid rejected. Well that's that then. Liverpool reject £7m Watford bid for Phillips - Sources (footballinsider247.com)
This is the same as Danny Rose first time around. Gino will have a number in his head and Liverpool will have a number in theirs. The two numbers will be so far away from each other that there is absolutely no chance of it happening, it’s just tyre kicking.
Well the good news is the club have decent money to spend on a centre back. I didn't expect them to be spending it on Nat Phillips though.
In fairness I dont think £7m is an unreasonable offer for him. I am not sure I would pay a great deal more than that. Liverpool just expect every club to have Eddie Howe at the helm making bonkers offers. I don't even know why we bother with Liverpool - this will go the same way as Markovic and Alberto Moreno where we make a fairly reasonable offer which they decline and the player ends up leaving on a free in a few months / years time.
Just imagine we’d spent that money in the summer though, when you get significantly better value and before we’d burned through half our games.
