“@T_Deeney: Think you guys are going to be happy with the news @watfordfcsays are about to announce ”

Could be something or nothing, a player signing or a new deal possibly?

West Brom reported to be in for him.

Hopefully Vydra scares him away from there.

Sky Sports understands West Bromwich Albion have joined the race for in-demand Watford striker Troy Deeney.

New West Brom head coach Alan Irvine has made a new striker one of his top priorities this summer as he looks to bolster the attacking options at The Hawthorns, and Deeney is thought to figure prominently on his wanted list.

West Brom are desperate to bolster their strikeforce with Nicolas Anelka leaving the club last March and Matej Vydra and Thievy Bifouma both returning to their parent clubs after loan spells.

A number of clubs are keen on signing Deeney this summer, with the player regarded as one of the best front-men outside the Premier League.

Deeney has broken through the 20-goal barrier in each of the last two seasons and Watford are bracing themselves for offers..

Norwich City are thought to have had a £5million bid rejected for Deeney this summer, while the likes of Swansea City, Aston Villa and Burnley are all hoping to lure him away from Vicarage Road.

However, West Brom are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by making a move for the midlands-born hit-man as Irvine looks to bring in a proven goalscorer to solve the club's problems in the final third.

Here we go, we should accept nothing less than £10m with add ons for him, otherwise it would be a false economy to let him go IMO!

Be somewhat ironic for us to get Vydra back from WBA just for Deeney to go in the opposite direction.

Wouldn't complain if we sold Deeney for 8 or 9 million and bought Danny for 1/2mil though

    I would

Large transfer fees are nice, but 9 times out of 10 keeping the player is better

I personally think that there is very little difference between DG and TD.

Both have high work rates, are 20 goal a season strikers and have great personalities in the changing room.

For the sake of a couple of million I'd keep Troy for stability, but if we were offered a swap plus 6/7 million pounds there's no doubt in my mind that I'd do it.

Ellington was stinking out West Brom's reserves when we signed him.

Deeney is our star player, vital for the dressing room and many people's choice for club captain.

I agree. I'd rather keep Deeney, but if we got Graham for £1.5m or so and sold Troy for £8/9m we won't have done badly.

No If were serious about going up we have to keep Troy and relight the Deeney Vydra combo , Danny was great for us but that was now a few years back.
Troy needs an improved offer and given the club captain role.

If Bas was here we would have sold him for £2.5M and a bag of balls.

To make a challenge for promotion this year I think we need Deeney. He is so much more to this team than just a goalscorer.

I wonder how much of a reason for Vydra coming back was down to his partnership with Deeney?

Be a shame to break that up..

If Deeney would rather be elsewhere, then he can go. He'll soon come back with his tail between his legs the season after next.
