The club have accepted a £3.5 million bid from Swansea for DG. I think this is very low, considering Leeds turned down £3.5m from Norwich for Snodgrass yesterday.

Oh well....at least this has paid off the £3.5m shortfall from last season.

Not good business this, he still has to accept terms if true.

Surely holding out for a bidding war would have been a better alternative, and selling end of this month, or are we in deeper shiite than is being reported.

Would be very surprised if we haven't got some decent add-ons added to this fee.

Good luck DG thanks for the effort!!

Will be looking forward to your interview on the Watford Legends website.

How much will Malky get to spend on improving the team...not much I guess?

Hopefully a fee paid up front rather than installments.

Not good business in my book. Selling your prize asset at under market value. We had so many teams sniffing around him, now he will go for only £3.5m. I doubt he will go to Swansea though, as now Watford have declared their selling price QPR, WBA, Newcastle will all steam in. DG will go to any of these clubs above Swansea, I would expect. Probably QPR.

I'd be very surprised if Malky got a penny, as the figure exactly matches last seasons shortfall of £3.5m. We are now on an even keel going into next season, but dont forget there is a £2.5m payment to be made, as the first installment paying off the £10m bonds issue.

Why on earth would we accept a bid in June?

I can only imagine it is so we can get our own deals sorted early.

    Definitely under-priced.

I'm not happy about this either!!!

However, I would like to think that we contacted the other known interested clubs and gave them the chance to put in a higher bid, and that they said they would not be willing to go higher?

At least I hope someone at the club did do that :sad3:

Maybe but would anyone believe them if the club came out and said no-one else wanted to offer more?

Of course they aren't going to say they're willing to go much higher! The bidding clubs objective is to keep the price as low as possible, why in the world would they tell Watford that they would be willing to offer more in the future.

The only way we would have found out is by not bending over on the FOURTH DAY of the transfer window and accepting one of the first bids we've recieved.

I am absolutely certain if we'd held out until the end of July/beginning of August we'd be getting a mil more.

Because Peterborough have a wealthy owner who does not want to sell his club's assets on the cheap, unlike our owner who needs the money.

Swansea play brilliant football. When we played similar great football, Danny was scoring for fun. If Danny goes to the swans, he'll score a bag full and have brilliant support from his midfield

If your right I hope we have a good sell on percentage. Certainly he will fit in well with Swansea's style, but it will be interesting to see if he can do it against international defenders. I have my doubts.

    Nooooooooooo not Brenda, noooooooooooooo :doom:

Why would you want to go to Wales with Brenda, sounds like hell. Don't be stupid DG!

No they don't - they play the most tiresome, boring football I've seen of any team in this league this season (last season?) - when we played 'great football' we were still exciting, we attacked like we wanted to score every time, Swansea pass the ball forward and if there's not a perfect opportunity they'll pass it all the way back to the defence again. They're like a poor mans Arsenal, and I hate watching Arsenal!

    BOOOOO HISSSSSSSSS :dismay:

and this is why BBB is chairman and making decisions - you doubt he can make the grade against International defenders but previously wrote

Quote Oscar "Because Peterborough have a wealthy owner who does not want to sell his club's assets on the cheap, unlike our owner who needs the money".

make your mind up - is he or is he not being undersold?

They played perhaps the most boring football in the Championship last season.

Boring, sideways possession football designed to kill off any excitement in the game and any spirit from the opposition.

If I was offered a free season ticket at any club in the country Swansea would be very low down on my list.

Agreed, and its not just sour grapes because they are buying Danny.

I hate watching Arsenal, and Barcelona bore me even if they are the best team on the planet.

Sideways football, if successful, is great for the fans of the club as they never lose possession and thus the opposition can't score. But, no chances or risks are ever taken, and the majority of possession is spent passing backwards. Forward passes happen once every minute or two. It is unbelievably tedious.

Even in the play off final, Swansea looked boring, and even though the commentator had obviously read a press release saying that Swansea are great in possession, they weren't and actually lost the ball constantly with poor passes at the same time as offering little going forwards.

Its frustrating, boring football. Crab football is equally as boring and tedious as hoofball, its just with crab football fans of the club get all condescending and self-congratulating just like Swansea's have done.

Our football under Brenda was sideways, boring nonsense with no incisive forward play. There is a middle grounds between ball retention and risk which keeps games entertaining, and either extreme is just as sh!t to watch as the other.

PG - I think it depends if there is an end product or not.

That style is great if there is a Messi to finish it off but Arsenal were badly lacking any forwards apart from the Dutch guy so everytime they had the ball it hard to go backwards.

Presumably Bas is cashing in now rather than waiting for an auction to develop because Swansea are offering to pay the fee upfront.

Does that mena perhaps that Bas doesn't have enough money to tide the club over the summer?

My two comments are not contradictory. I do have doubts as to whether DG will be a prolific scorer in the Premier League. However, this does not necessarily mean that he is not worth more than £3.5milliion. Premier clubs generally spend that sort of money on squad players nowadays. Connor Wickham is valued at £10m and whilst he is a great prospect is he really worth three times the value of the leading scorer in the Championship. Long is valued at £5m and I would put him on a par with DG.

Anybody who puts money into a club should of course meke all the important decisions, but I cannot see what money your mate has put in (other than via loans).
