Just scored against Arsenal, right after Walcott scored. 3-2 to Swansea with just under 20 minutes left.
How much did Reading get for Long? 6 million was it? 3.5 was a truly pathetic amount to sell him for. At this rate he'll be Swansea's if not the whole Premiership's signing of the season if he keeps scoring and they stay up! Although saying that Ba on a free transfer is quite frankly ridiculous business from Newcastle.
Every time Graham scores another goal the pathetic amount we sold him for is like a knife through the heart. We could and SHOULD have got a bl**dy lot more.
Hopefully he will score a lot more assuming we have a sell on percentage for when he moves to a big club. Still in compensation we did pick up the great Emu for a snip!!!!
I wish people would get real, Danny had a clause in his contact that if the club got an offer of more than £2m he can go. To get £3.5m was a good deal. He could have walked or put in a transfer request and gone sooner, but he didn't. What would have happended if we didn't sell him, would have meant he may have gone at the end of this season for nowt and possibly the club would have gone into Admin. I wish people would think things through about the consequences for the club before spouting trash.
Sometimes the reason people don't 'think things thru' is because they were not aware of the thru.....
yeh i agree with glory hornet. the club did very well to get 3.5million, as soon as swansea made a 2million pound bid we had no controll over it really but danny graham and his advisors along with GT and bassini pushed for more and swansea agreed even tho they could have got him for 2million. if that clause was not in his contract i reckon we could have sold him for 6-7 million. but ill take 3.5 million rather than 2 and day
We can't afford to offer mega wages which means to get people to stay or to extend contracts we have to offer release clauses. Grham's in hindsight was too low, but the club did a very good job squeezing what they did out of it.
DG is a star ... a lot of people questioned his ability and whether he could do it in the Prem and I thought he would struggle. He is proving a lot of people wrong and his work ethic is 2nd to none. PS Good to see Tommy getting a run out yesterday, should be nice and fit for when he returns to the Vic.
From BBC today... Brendan Rodgers admits Swansea City's passing and attractive style will benefit his players who have been tipped as possible England call-ups. English players Scott Sinclair, Nathan Dyer and Danny Graham all scored as Swansea stunned Arsenal in their 3-2 Premier League triumph on Sunday. Sinclair plays for England under-21 side alongside Swansea's on-loan Tottenham defender Steven Caulker. "We have a number of players who could play at that level," said Rodgers. "They play the game here which suits international football and I'd have no hesitation about any of these players that are deemed possibilities being good enough to play at the level." Swansea's squad has four current internationals as keeper Michel Vorm is the reserve goalkeeper for the Netherlands national team and Joe Allen, Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor are regulars for Wales. But the Welsh club have never had a current England senior international on their books. Swans boss Rodgers, meanwhile, believes in-form winger Dyer, nine-goal top-scorer Graham, former Chelsea winger Sinclair, centre-back Caulker and possibly midfield fulcrum Leon Britton could step up to international level with England. England boss Fabio Capello watched their impressive performance against Arsenal from The Liberty Stadium stands on Sunday ahead of England's friendly against the Dutch at Wembley on 29 February. But Rodgers warned his players: "Whether they get chosen or not is another factor. "They can only control their own performance level and then it is up to selectors to pick them. "They have shown that you don't need to play for Barcelona to have courage." Rodgers had called on Capello to pay a visit to south Wales to cast his eye over his England hopefuls and appreciate Swansea's possession style, which places a high demand on a player's technical ability. And the Swansea manager felt Capello "would have been surprised at the level they played at" after Dyer, Sinclair and Graham inspired Swansea to their best win in their debut Premier League season. "The front three were a massive threat all afternoon," Rodgers said afterwards, "Nathan scored a terrific goal and it was a wonderful finish from Danny Graham, and I'm sure it gave him something to think about. "The advantage we have is that our players play a style that if they stepped up to international level it would be no surprise to them. "Players at unfashionable clubs are questioned technically, but they have proved they can play at that level."
