This maybe a bad analogy but much like the current England team this Watford squad is a "likeable" bunch of lads . Yes, they make mistakes, but they don't give up , play for the shirt and appreciate the supporters. If we concede a goal we have an all-round belief , team and fans, that we can turn it around. Unlike previous squads .
I think their keeper was dodgy. But it was smart from our forwards to have been there expecting a mess up. How many times have we seen over the years, a keeper parry but we have no one anywhere near the rebound? Way too often. Rajovic and Healey are genuine poachers.
Another great result! Our different options on the bench were the difference, we had lots, they had none. We are at the half way point now. As expected, the 3 relegated teams from last year are a level above and will kick on in the January transfer window and 2nd half the season. I don't expect Ipswich to get anywhere near there 1st half of the season points haul but they already have done enough for the play offs. of the other 18 teams in the league, none of them scare me, I will feel confident we can win in every one of those fixtures in the 2nd half of the season! We are now play off contenders. Let's enjoy it! A big shout out to the manager and the players. Well done Pozzo for sticking with Vlad too
I just read a report from the Rovers manager saying that he thought their disallowed goal should have stood. I’ve not seen a clip of it on any of the highlights, so was surprised he is making such a big deal. From what I heard it was a blatant foul on Hamer, rather than Hamer just dropping the ball as he’s making out. Can anyone confirm whether it should have stood?
£11 ticket, friendly opposition fans, pub right to the ground & a win I didn’t expect for 80+ minutes. A really good away day & certainly worth the 7 hour+ round trip up there in the car. Big shout-out to Hamer for keeping us in the game 2nd half, I really feel he’s our permanent GK now. Massive credit to the manager for the transformation from the end of last season to where we are now. Play Offs May even be on the cards, who knows… Here’s hoping for another 2 wins before 2024 comes around!
I would have to see it again but am pretty certain the Blackburn player caught Hamer on his way past. The Blackburn players didnt appeal the decision particularly and even the Rovers commentary on the stream I was watching thought that ultimately the ref made the correct decision.
Moments like the last 10 minutes at Ewood Park are the reason we all invest so much time, money and emotion on football in general and Watford in particular. Bloody magic! Much love and merry Xmas to Hornets everywhere
The Rovers fans in the comments are baffling me. They’re all acting like it’s a horrendous decision… he clearly kicks him in the face. You can tell by the reaction of the player!
This team are a joy to watch at the moment . I love the way they never know when they’re beaten . Not ideal that we gave Blackburn a head start and were a bit if a shambles again at the start, but the belief , team spirit and fitness is something not seen for some time . Val is doing a tremendous job so far. Asprilla was immense when he came on. Great position to be in with 2 home games to come !
Basically seems to be what the Blackburn fans thought as well. Our subs added quality and helped us whereas theirs struggled. Obviously helped 2 of ours scored !
Not sure how much of a difference it has made or if it's just coincidence but we've been a lot better since Manga left his role. I know their were players unhappy with him being around the training ground. Anyway what a win that is, 7th in the league & 2 points off the play offs. Unbelievable stuff especially considering the recent tough run of fixtures we've had. Onto Bristol next, let's keep pushing and who knows where this season could go. Have a great Christmas 'Orns.
Yeah, to me it looks like Hamer spills the ball and then as it’s spooned up in the air their bloke has tried to leap over him and sort of collided with the ball and Hamer’s shoulder at roughly the same time. Foul. Blackburn player has only himself to blame - no idea why he decided to gallop into Hamer like that. If he’d held back he’d have had the ball presented to him nicely.
You could well be right. Although the Manga situation was a ludicrous circus, it may be that the decision to let him go was the right thing at that point in time for the good of team/club unity . It seems after years of bad decisions the owners have made a number of good decisions more recently and the
Great day. The beer went down very nicely after the match, and the locals we spoke to seemed quite gracious in defeat. Healey has to be getting close to starting games now.
As much as I think he has earned that right, I feel VI will continue using him as an impact sub. Bayo is one you know will work hard for most of the game, and Healy is the sort of player (like yesterday) who will win headers out of nowhere and set up chances against a tiring backline. He's full of energy and running and it's just the sort of player we have needing since having to put up with snails like Davis last season.
All speculation, but if you're gonna make a suggestion about Manga, perhaps Giaretta belatedly getting the can also helped? Could also be a coincidence!
It would be harsh to to take Man of the Match away from Hamer after his performance yesterday, but Asprilla was the catalyst in the much-improved second half from the whole team when they all played to a quicker tempo. I’m increasingly impressed with how Ismael is getting so much out of this squad now. I think that’s truly the sign of a good manager.
