If we could Chalobah from the second half of the Covid promotion season, I’d take him every day over any version of Kayembe or the current version of Livermore. It’s because I know we wouldn’t get that, that I wasn’t being serious. Still furious over Zinckernagel mind you.
Hmmm, well, what's for sure is that he was one of the three who flouted lockdown rules to go to Gray's birthday party, and the only one who never actually apologised for it (whatever that would have genuinely meant).
Heard from a couple that he's a billy big bo11ocks, and he's now pissed off the WBA fans by giving them the middle finger after a recent loss
Truly remarkable if this is the case, given just how unsuccessful the vast majority of his senior career has been and just how far short he has fallen of all those 'future England captain' and '£50m player' assessments from Chelsea's youth setup and Troy, respectively. We do always have to keep in mind that he lost his mother suddenly, fairly early on in that journey, but it's doubly a tragedy if that was allowed to entirely derail the entire rest of his career, and I'm equally not entirely sure how much that can be linked to being a Billy - they don't necessarily seem the most likely things to follow one another.
Really did think he'd get back to his best after that, but he's done absolutely nothing in the 2 years since. Zinckernagel I understand why we sold, but like Wilmot we sold him for pennies
Diangana I don't think we need, we have plenty of his type of player, but Mowatt would slot straight into our midfield. Hasn't been made 'available', but with West Brom in their current predicament, I'm sure everyone is available for the right price (any price is probably too much for us mind you!)
I don’t think we have a pacy 1v1 winger actually. We’ve got more interior players. Mowatt is more of an 8. Not worth bringing him in to be a 6 and we’re well stocked at 8 with Louza, Kone, Dele-Bashiru, Kayembe and potentially Chakvetadze and Asprilla too.
Apparently doesn't have the best people around him, and can imagine the amount of smoke blown up his arse from his teenage years won't have helped the size of his ego. Don't think it's too late to salvage the last few years if he swallowed his pride and dropped to a level that matched the standard of player he is now, but I can't see him doing that.
Whilst I hate that attitude in people and wouldn't want him back I also think it must be hard to not turn out a BBB for some of these people. IIRC he was with us initially at 17, and was fantastic, didn't get him back the following season as Chelsea wanted us to cover all of his £35k pw wages. Let that sink in, £35k pw at 17, what, 10 years ago? Must be hard to not be an arrogant git earning that money, at that age, never a problem I had but suspect I would be a very different person if it was, no matter how much you think you wouldn't. Some of this may be memory embellished but it's in the ballpark. Meanwhile I will have to work to a very old age to keep myself going which has kept me very grounded.
I suppose, but it looks like our main plan is to play with more inverted wingers, so it's hard to see where Diangana fits in with that. Mowatt is definitely more of an 8 as you say, but he's better than Koné and TDB, and I'm not sure Asprilla and Chak will predominantly play centrally neither (moot as we won't be signing either of them!)
We could protest at the lack of signings like these Malaga fans have . Mind you probably better not do it at Luton ! https://twitter.com/ZachLowy/status...ndsoffulham.com/forum/index.php?topic=91372.0
I understand the delay in announcing transfers is because of Deed Poll taking too long to register Moggi Bayats new name .... an ingenious plan by all parties to convince us that we are not panic buying his crap players
Considering the suggestion that Bournemouth would only let him go late in the window and that Gino is in contact with his agent on a daily basis, it feels like all our eggs might be in the Kieffer Moore on deadline day basket (the alternative being nobody or somebody agent-led like Nicholson).
It is quiet, which suggests little panic among the hierarchy to make daft enquiries. So either we have our main targets sorted out and just have to wait, or we have little serious intention of making signings.
I don't actually think too much can be read in to it either way - there was zero prior warning before Chakvetadze suddenly came to us earlier in the window for instance.
Unusual though. Around this time of year there is usually a regular stream of rumours, many of which are pure invention, but some at least indicating some form of transfer activity, even if inept. I’m looking for entertainment.
Cameron Archer going to Sheff Utd for close to £20m. And Piroe in talks with Leeds about an £8m move. Basically, ‘sure thing’ Championship strikers are financially way beyond us.
8m for Piroe is good business. Makes our expenditure on the likes of Kone, Kaymbe, Bayo, Okoye etc all the more grim.
Why do you repeatedly keep talking to me like those were my words? And the concept of ‘talks’ is that they may lead to something, they may not. They start, they stop. And so on.
Well sometimes you talk as if whoever's words they were are something we should pay attention to, and other times you talk as if you don't even believe them yourself. Which is all rather odd and confusing.
It's concerning how quiet it is. This is what I'm hoping for. The only reason we found out about Chakvetadze was because he effectively leaked it himself.
Seems the Watford powers that be heard you and have quick-sharp brought us another Dane who has come through the lower leagues there to try and temper your fury.
