You can take the man out of spurs, but you can’t take the “spursy” out of the man

He was once one of the most vaunted youth players in English football at the Stripey Nigels. Poor career choices have never helped him.

Slumberland look absolutely shagged. Dead on their feet the past 10 minutes, just when they should have been pushing to kill the game.

Deserved win for Sunderland. Should have scored more against a poor Luton.

Well done Sunderland. Played much better second half and deserved to win. Second leg's going to be close, my predicted final of Coventry vs Sunderland begins to take shape.

The one worry is that this might be the revival of Sunderland. In the long run it might make staying in the It's Live League harder. Someone would be bound to take them on. High attendance. Plenty of sponsors and no doubt some rich state or owner around the corner. Doubt anyone would want to take on Luton.

At the moment we have several 'big' clubs languishing in tier 2 and 3. Might be better for us in the long run that they remain that way harsh as it sounds.

Think a number of people, still, seriously underestimate the recruitment levels at them up the road.

Them going up and getting such a boost in resources and funds would be an absolute disaster and keep them long term as a minimum top 6 championship club.

It would be rather nice to get Stuboy's thread to 200.000 views. Shall we make it happen?

    Been all Boro really.

So expected Coventry to score soon .

Looked like the Coventry defender's back foot was playing Jones onside there. Should probably be 1-0 Boro.

Coventry definitely got back into it 2nd half but not much for the keepers to do .

Hoping Sunderland finish the job tonight, and there's a good chance as they're very good away and Luton aren't great at home, but still there's only one goal in it and if the scum take the lead they'll make it very difficult and who know what could happen if it goes to extra time/penalties.

I don't understand the logic in the EFL play-off schedule - why is the Sheff Wednesday-Peterborough 2nd leg on a Thursday when the first was played on a Friday, whereas the first leg of this tie was only three days ago?

Guess it’s because the Championship final is 2 days earlier after they switched the two around ?

I should think Sky have a big say in the ordering of the fixtures. Possibly having the Championship 2nd legs up against the Champions League semis on BT is the best they can hope for?

Saw a stat that backs up @The undeniable truth (?) theory about the difficulty of staying in the top flight when an average sized (or larger) club.

"Of the 92 teams to be promoted to the Premier League only 8 have lasted 10 seasons (just 9%). Only 4 have made it past 11."

Looks like 3 seemingly well run clubs (from the outside) could be the latest victims in Leeds, Leicester and Southampton.

Can't see any of this year's promoted teams bucking the trend, to be honest.

We deliberately conceded late at Sunderland to make this happen.

I'm sure it'll have no bearing on tonight, which will be played largely on adrenaline, but I hadn't appreciated how few goals Luton have scored this season til I looked properly at the league table earlier. One goal more than our inept bunch of losers.

Did they get away with a handball too ?

    No VAR of course.

Not handball for me. Got away with the deflection going straight at the keeper though.

Yeah, Luton are going up, and the fact they're doing it with the young and and coming manager we started the season with and sacked is one of the biggest embarrassments in the history of our club.

Well Sunderland just cannot defend crosses. Conceded to Kabasele, Porteous, Osho and Lockyer

Amazing the difference the respective home grounds made to each team, Sunderland can’t get out of their half.
