Bayo cost more than every other player in the current top 25 goal scorers in the Championship this season other than Ismaila Sarr and Brereton Diaz. These players are made up of frees, signings from lower down the EFl, loans, players looking to reignite their careers. There were dozens if not hundreds of players we could've landed on to spearhead our attack this season. But of course, the most suitable player to dash £5m on just happened to be owned by Mogi Bayat's brother's club.
Thought we’d established 9 goals in Belgium made him worth £10m or something? Just like the time Lee Nogan had a purple patch for us.
You missed out Josh Sargent, Joao Pedro, McBurnie + Jay Rodriguez as well. That's not what I said but sure.
Reids was hardly singing Here's To You Pozzo Family or printing shirts with Bayat's face on. He used some statistical analysis to give an opinion on a player. Don't think that deserves snidey remarks, but each to their own.
No point debating this further. Jumbo isn’t going to change his mind and nor are those who just feel it was a slightly overpriced punt that didn’t come off.
I think that’s a bit disingenuous to the argument, replace jumbo with ‘most of the fan base with half a brain cell’ and your statement would be a more accurate representation of the situation. It’s hardly just Jumbo who thinks it was an absolutely mental signing is it.
You see you can’t make a point without throwing in an insult yet again can you ? Pretty harsh to accuse everyone who agrees with Jumbo of only having half a brain cell .
Well I believe it’s three years since we left the EU, just like the Bayo signing, I think there are still a handful of people knocking about that think that was a good idea as well.
For some reason I thought it was about £3m due to Flamengo having financial difficulties but think I'm probably wrong now! My wider (albeit poorly researched) point still stands just about, I think. We definitely could've found a player that would've scored more goals and been better suited to the Championship than Bayo.
Sorry but the main thing that your poorly researched post does show is that a bunch of people liked a poorly researched post because it suited their narrative. Oh, and just to be clear: I don’t think Reids, in pointing out your errors, is saying that Bayo is a good player or that the deal with Bayat was not dodgy. And neither am I. But I really shouldn’t have to repeat myself.
The original deal was on the lower side, then they had financial issues and we bunged them a load of cash to buy out the clauses they had on him. You're likely not wrong, just thinking about the original purchase fee instead of what we ended up paying after they ran into trouble. I can't remember what the original fee was, but it wasn't very high.
Didn’t you get upset at Moog yesterday because you believed he was rude to you?! Now read your post here! I just don’t understand some people’s lack of self-.awareness
So you are not saying Bayo is a good player. And you agree the deal with Bayat was dodgy. Seems you have common ground with the rest of us.
The only thing that upsets me about Moog is his perpetual misery. But then my phone just autocorrected Moog to Mogi. So if that’s another one of his alter egos he is even more complex than I thought
Burnsy, speak up. I am waiting for my apology. Waiting to hear more news regarding the allegations of fraudulent behaviour and money laundering being laid against our Super Agent. Will Watford be dragged through the Belgian Courts at some point?
Your apology for what? I’ve accused you of making up the fee we ‘could’ have signed him for - because we couldn’t. But you only need to go back to the various threads about Bayo to see I marked him as utter crap from Day 1. I had a few ‘testy’ interactions with @LeedsOrn about it when we signed him! Come on, this one is easy! You don’t even need to search hard. Start off the threads and it’s all there for you! Go on, go and find the evidence of you completely making up yet another thing! I’ll help… https://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/vakoun-bayo.59450/page-3 It starts on Page 2. Of a thread I created.
l was right. Check it out. I repeat, l was right. It was said l had zero evidence that Bayo was going out on loan. Well.... His Fee. No offers received by Charleroi at €2m.. Fee vastly reduced till we came knocking. Nothing to add on that score. You know l feel that l am correct on Okoye, Manaj, Kalu and Kayembe. Nothing to gain on being right, just an interest. In my opinion, Okoye, Manaj, Kalu, Kayembe, Bachmann and Bayo will all be dispensed with during the summer months. More should leave, but you know we love to hand long term deals to very poor, injury prone and ageing players. Bilic will not be the Manager at the beginning of the 2023/24 season. Be it in Premier League, Championship or League One, it won't matter. I wait for your reply
If he doesn't score what is his value to the team ? Very little IMO . Although I have no malice towards him .
