    I never said he was.
I was referring to the pending investigation of money laundering via football transfers mainly focusing on the league in Belgium of which Bayat is a suspect/helping with enquiries

The interviews are always just what gullible fans want to hear.

We've had a hundred encouraging interviews.

Whilst Gino remains, I won't believe a word until I witness tangible change with my own eyes.

The signings of Kone, Fereirra and Martins are more of the same old same old. Players for the Pozzo machine and not got Watford.

I'm far from convinced that a new sporting director will have any more of a material difference than the 25 new managers who all came in with puff piece PR and badge kissing with promises from Dux, Gino and Giaretta.

His starting position for the first goal looks entirely orthodox, so I just don’t see that criticism stands up. Pause the footage a second before the cross comes in and ask all 92 PL/EFL goalkeepers where they’d be standing and I reckon you’d get a pretty tight distribution patterns within a yard or so of him. I’m not sure many of them even get close to the cross.

I agree about the second goal and his general performance though.

Damn, he's started well there! Dare I say he might have done a job as a backup for us, but in the long run he's surely far better off getting regular football

  7. Grieves well off it? Were we at the same game?

He was valued at €1m in the September prior to us signing him.
Four months later we paid £5m.
That is some upturn in form for a keeper known to be poor at kicking, flaps at crosses, slow off his line and like a giraffe on ice with the ball at his feet.
Have faith, our coaching staff can help his career . He'll be sold to another club!!

The goal today was not really his though. Just a lucky wayward cross

Martins seems a pretty similar type of signing to JP - do you also think he was a mistake?!?!

Definitely wasn’t valued at £5m either if there hadn’t been Pozzo on one end, a Bayat brother on the other and another Bayat brother lubricating it.

Kone very good for 1st appearance, of the youngsters I would say Andrews, Grieves and Adu Poku did well, thought Blake was a bit off the pace, Adeyembo difficult coming on with 15 mins left but good experience for him.
Morris very good back-up for us, Pollock afraid of playing a forward ball, not a championship player for us anyway!
Keeper agree with what's been said before, doesn't give any confidence in what's a pretty important position!

@Burnsy - based on that do you still somehow think Blake would currently offer more than Sarr in the Championship?!

I never, ever once said he would offer more than Sarr or that it’s he that I would replace. So if you’re going to tag me, probably best to do so under the correct pretence!

I’m also not really inclined to judge him on 45 mins in a cup game where he was largely surrounded by other young players with little game time. I’d like to see him given a run with our other senior attackers and see how that plays out. My opinion there hasn’t changed.

I know you didn’t agree with that so we don’t need to endlessly go back and forth on it though.

Copied from the Sarr thread, you liar:

"Maybe it’s that some fans aren’t inclined to give Sarr any more chances to ‘dial in’ performances of zero effort and they feel like a player of his stature should be brought down a peg or 2 rather than endlessly being put in the starting line-up for zero reward?

And Blake looks a good hope. Has been scoring goals and is looking like he has something many of our current attackers don’t have - confidence.

So yeah, I want him to start the next game and given a run."

    Liar?

Let me get this right - I’ve said I’d like Blake to start and that Sarr needs bringing down a peg or 2 by being benched. There are also messages in that exchange where I’ve said I’d have dropped Davis too - and I was inclined to start Blake in that sense because he’s shown his confidence in knowing where the net is. I’d have put Blake through the middle. I’ve been clear about that.

I also clearly stated after the Norwich game that Sarr is the only wide player we have who can do what he does. Be anonymous and then conjure up a game winning assist. I’ve said at length that I’m at odds with the camp who think he’s crap and should be sold.

I’m also always happy to put my hands up when I’m wrong (unlike yourself) - but I’m not going to have you tell me I’m a liar here, when the wider conversations/posts I’ve engaged in on here and on the Shoutbox clearly show what I was saying better than your attempt at a ‘gotcha’.

Also - remember when you went off crying because @LeedsOrn simply sent you some well wishes? And your defence for that was that he didn’t know you? Well you don’t know me (thank god) so by calling me a liar, you’re engaging in the exact kind of behaviour you suggest you don’t like. Saying things to, or about, people you don’t know.

So please oh wise one - tell me again where I specifically said I would drop Sarr for Blake or that he would offer more than Sarr? Specifically and not just some figment of your over-reaching imagination- just one instance? Bet you can’t. Because it didn’t happen.

    Now who’s the liar?

Lol, Blake is literally a left-winger - his favoured position is where Sarr is playing for us.

You're clearly trying to dodge it, but the post I quoted you said you wanted Sarr benched with Blake to start - that is the definition of Sarr being dropped in place of Blake. You didn't say in the post - "I want Sarr dropped for someone else to play on the wing instead", you said Blake. You didn't say "I want Davis dropped and Blake to play instead", you said Sarr.

As an aside, if you had actually wanted Davis dropped and Blake to play instead of him in an unnatural CF position, that would be just as nonsensical as you saying you wanted Sarr dropped for him. I would have happily called you out and laughed at it instead if that had been what you posted. ;)

Andrews, Grieves, Adu-Poku and Adeyemo were great. They looked confident and got stuck in, I'm not sure you can ask for more from 17/18 year olds playing in their first professional games. Blake had his position changed after about ten minutes by Bilic and looked lost after that which was a shame. Overall I think there are some promising players coming through based on what I saw today.

It’s good that you can laugh at yourself. We all certainly did when you were banned for being a complete ***.

But good, laughter makes a nice change from you crying when people were honestly wishing you well.

As I’ve said on this issue - people on here know my nature. And they know your nature. I’m fairly comfortable knowing they can read the relevant posts over the past few weeks and see you’re being subjective, making leaps in your own mind and pointing to something that wasn’t said. You have inferred it in your head - which coincidentally seems to be where you make up a little of this little confrontational vendettas over small matters.

Have a good weekend. But I won’t be replying to you again tonight.

I'm laughing at your original opinion and your now scuttling away.

You clearly posted that you wanted Sarr benched for Blake.

Even if you actually said you'd wanted Davis benched for Blake, that would have also been laughable.

    So again:

Good to get Reading ticked off on my away venue list. I think I did go to Elm Park in the past but not the Select Rent-a-car stadium, or whatever it’s called.

I thought our team acquitted themselves well overall. Reading hardly had a sniff all game, and 0-0 would have probably been a fair end result. Both goals came as last kicks of the first and second half.

I thought there were some decent performances from the kids, but some players really let themselves down and probably should be moved on now. Okoye is possibly the worst keeper I’ve ever seen play for us. He’s so uncomfortable when the ball goes anywhere near him. He has zero composure with the ball at his feet, can’t catch a cross, can’t make a save, just bloody useless really.

I don’t think much of Pollock or Hungbo either. I can’t see a future for them at Watford even as future Championship players. I don’t think they’ll ever reach that level.

I thought Aprilla was poor today, which is a shame, as we could really have benefitted from a good performance from him. He had a great chance around the 80 minute mark but fluffed his shot.

I liked the look of Kone. He grew into the game and by the end of it was commanding and showing his personality on the ball. I think he’s going to be decent for us.

I liked what I saw from Grieves when he came on. He wanted to make a nuisance of himself. Andrews looked pretty good too.

Adu-Poku chased and harassed all game but didn’t look like he had the quality to score goals.

Funny moment was when a Reading chav picked the ball up in the crowd, pretended to give it back to our player then turned to throw it back into the crown, only to drop it back to our player making a t1t of himself. The ‘fat man’ in grey took some stick from us too.

Finally, I hope we don't sign Andy Carroll after all. He looked hopeless when coming on, and he looked crap when he came on against us in the league game too.

How can you come to that conclusion when we failed to get him into a goalscoring situation all game? Not trying to argue but he might be a clinical striker and we haven't given him the opportunity to get close to the goal today.
