Well they seem to have appointed Luther as life-president without speaking to him and sign players without Edwards having a say, so I think it's highly likely they've leaked a new contract story to that odd Mike bloke without Sarr even being aware. It's probably a load of waffle anyway.
For what it’s worth I’d heard from other ITK types on here and Twitter that offering Sarr a new contract is the plan and there are indications he wants to stay in London for family reasons.
That may be the case but I'm at the point where I don't trust a thing that comes from the club. Would they even tell us anyway? They don't even bother announcing most contract extensions.
Well I understand that. But I think we need to rely on the sources/journalists (who we’d hope are doing their own diligence too) while scrutinising where appropriate. We had others before saying that Toby Gilles was probably lying and that hearsay rendered the information he shared useless. But others holding onto it as gospel.
https://twitter.com/nicoschira/status/1562925598103814145?s=21&t=fSOm26i6g7G4NH0nsxL2ew The not very erstwhile Nico Schira claiming that United are interested and have offered €35m.
Actually wouldn’t mind him joining United. Obviously would much rather keep him for ourselves but losing him to United is much better than losing him to Newcastle.
Disagree. I understand where you’re coming from United is a mess of a club and ruins all talent that comes through the door. Look at Sancho for instance or someone like Amad who they paid a similar amount for. I think Pedro would thrive under Eddie Howe at Newcastle and actually play. He’d also be a talismanic player for them and grow on a similar trajectory to the club.
I actually think he would do well at United if they trusted him which under ten Hag I think I think they would. If they put faith in him, he would be a fan favourite within 2/3 years.
Frankly put, who cares? I could not care less about Pedro’s development once he leaves Watford, if he is to leave, I hope he goes to the club that offers the biggest wod of cash.
I care. Seems a good kid and deserves a good career. I’ve taken to him and so have many others I suspect because of his passion and style of play. What’s more, the better he does, the more attractive a pipeline we become for other South American talent.
Nothing can be certain in the media world, but it looks like he is staying. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/n...otracted-transfer-pursuit-of-watford-forward/
Ok we will see won’t we. It was reported that he was happy to stay and we were preparing to offer a new contract. Of course he’d be prepared to consider it and assess what terms were on offer. I’d be surprised if he signs a new extended contract while we are in the champ unless it has a very low/reasonable release clause for when a prem offer comes in. Every indication was that he wanted prem football but didn’t want to leave this area so presumably was hoping that an offer came in from CP.
That wasn’t done for the purposes of keeping Sarr and/or Joao Pedro. It may be a by-product of the move, but it wasn’t the primary reason.
I thought the forum would be a happier place this morning... there was a £20+M offer the Pozzo's turned down, whatever we think of them. Very good chance they both stay now. I can live with just a right wing back if that's the case. Somehow add a CB+CM (we probably won't) and we'd probably have a better team than last season.
On a serious note, having glanced at their forums and with the help of Google translate, I have reached the conclusion that Geordies seem to be a bit thick.
Poster in question seemed to me to want them to stay but feared there will be further developments next week. Personally I think we may still sell one in next few days to completely steady the ship, but even that is much better than when it seemed both were going a week back.
As this came from LeedsOrn, I assume he meant Leeds United. Unlikely he had Rotherham United or Cambridge United in mind. Not Newcastle United, as they're the Toon. Or could it be that he's one of those annoying people who think there's only one United and one City, both resident in Manchester?
Those are impressive stats to be fair. Not sure anyone denies the lad has talent. One of my favourite players to watch - certainly in the current squad - but I think it’s fair to question his goal scoring ability. I’m hoping that will improve though throughout the season as the team becomes a better attacking group. He certainly looks to have all the qualities required to become a top 4 player if he can sort out the shooting. Overall - be great to keep him. If he went for say £30m and say half got spent on 2/3 decent players I’d be ok with that as well.
Well he doesn't. He's clearly more useful as a creative player at the moment than the central striker.
One article linking him to Wolves if they sell Neto. They'd have the money, and would fit their system. Would he want to go there though?
Neto is a winger isn't he? Not sure that would be the most suitable move for him, and Wolves' ceiling is upper mid-table
So IF Sarr and JP stay, and with the activity we've done in the loan market - How would you rate this window? I'd have liked to see another CM, but we have Louza to return and another RWB. Manaj and Bayo haven't filled me with confidence that they're the forwards to fire us up, but other than that I feel it'll go down as one of the more successful windows
