I do. Boyo and Menaj are perfectly adequate replacements.... oh bugger.... I think I may have been a bit hasty
If they're only making offers which they know are too low to likely be accepted then we can't really be blamed.
Sure but if you were Pedro and wanted to go you might be a little “disappointed” that the club wouldn’t sell. I’m sure he’d be professional but didn’t Frenchie say he was really pushing for a move ?
Think he said he’s keen on the move. Who wouldn’t be. But that’s not ‘really pushing’ for a move. Going on strike, not turning up for training etc…that’s pushing for a move in this day and age. JP hasn’t done that. He’s been rehabbing at London Colney all week.
AF said both Pedro and Sarr were happy to stay but if the right offer came that was for their best interest they would consider it . He also said both lads were incredibly humble and loyal human beings or at least words to that effect .
It does seem to have come at a time when Sarr and JP deals have stalled/collapsed, as well as being nearly time for us to pay Rennes the final Sarr instalment. £16m all in one go is a looooot (I think the Sarr instalment is £5m), hopefully, despite how dodgy the deal appears, it can help us keep Sarr and JP!
Pretty obvious that he’s had a mare and now trying to cover it up. Also obvious that Pedro is still around and no fee has been agreed, if it was, Frenchy would have said something by now. 8 days left, a lot can change no doubt but the closer we get to the deadline the more inclined I am to think that we will either reject all bids or as it’s so late in the window we up the price. Personal opinion, I think Newcastle have ended all interest. Isak clearly their main target followed by Paqueta. Think they thought they could get Pedro on the cheap, tried to tap him up through his agent, released all these leaks to their press to try and force the move, now trying to cover it up because they have been rejected again. At this moment in time I’m more confident about Pedro and Sarr staying than I am them leaving.
Pretty sure I’m in a minority here but I’d be more confident about our chances of promotion with Goalscorer Archer in the side than all the skill and ability of Pedro in the side.
A friend of mine who knows Pedro pretty well is adamant that a deal was already done and he signed for Newcastle last week. We are now bidding to re-sign him back from Newcastle for £30m with an agreement to loan him back to them for the season. It’s a complex deal which is why it’s dragging on, but he’s confident we will get it done.
Having got the initial sale over the line, he would be the perfect replacement to play the Pedro role.
I’m not sure why the club doesn’t dispense with the tedious business of playing matches and just trade in players. Matches usually just bring more misery, transfer rumours on the other hand, are a hoot.
Pozzbury have us all fooled again. My sauce tells me we are that desperate to keep hold of Pedro that we can only achieve it if done in a way in which he feels his ambitions are fully understood and looked after. Desperate times = desperate measures. On transfer deadline day they'll drive him around for hours and bring him back to Watford General for his (ahem) 'medical'. Get a few signatures, take him to L**on airport for a kip on board a circular flight and get him to change into his new kit modelled below by one of his new team mates 'Alexander Izzhe?'. Our lot must talk utter gibberish to him from then on Geordie-style - not the hardest part of this ruse - so that he is fully fooled and fires the Black and Whites to the top and a Champions League/promotion spot. Welcome to the Toon, Geordie Joao!
I think this is a little too well considered for SD and GP. What about a Jimmy Nail poster or Tim Healy pin badge?
We're still very much in talks and I'm sure JP thinks he's signing for them but something is going to have to give soon. They will not change structure of bid and we will not accept it as is, if they don't change it, he will not be going. Annoyingly think it's going to rumble on, meaning even less time to replace.
I know football doesn't work like this but I really wish we could add £1m onto our asking price on each day from here to end of the window. Focus their minds a bit.
Their behavior through the entire thing has been shameful, penny pinching whilst mid way through negotiations buying another striker for £60M. They've never even officially made another bid, whole thing is being done through leaks and intermediaries. I wish we could afford to just tell them to **** off. Gut feeling is they are probably seeing what else they can get with the money in the mean time/hoping JP will kick off the longer this drags on. We should be setting them a hard deadline to make us an acceptable offer or withdraw.
That deadline should be today. One week to find a replacement and knowing that other clubs will inflate the price as they will know we have JP money. As much as I don't want him to leave and as much as I loathe Everton,I'd sell to them to spite Newcastle.
I've now seen him linked with Newcastle, Leicester, Forest, Wolves and Everton. Not a single top side in for him. Must be a reason behind that
