If that's true, I think we should keep him and Dennis for this season. Sarr knows the Championship well, a good season in the championship will increase his value. But once we get promoted, we should sell him because another poor performance in the EPL with us will make his value drop. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
I mean, I’m not privy to that type of info - but I do know he’s not actively being flogged around in the manner that was being suggested. And £10m-£15m just won’t be entertained, much less us being keen to sell him at such amounts. I think £25m gets him. Would be surprised if we accepted less personally.
Lol at the idea we can get our money back on Sarr. Surely we aren't that stupid. A bit of pragmatism needed with 2 years to run on his deal.
At the same time…it might be worth more to us to keep him for a year if he can help get us promoted again this year.
Disagree. There was an article by FootMercato a reliable French source that came out with this today, ie that our €35m price tag is putting off otherwise interested Italian clubs.
Even if that worked and that’s a big ‘if’ he’s then only got a year left. This is the time to sell and take the hit.
Gino’s seen 1x assist and 0 x goals Dwight McNeil move for £20m plus add ons today. You can bet your ******** to a barn dance he won’t lower his expectations
And neither should he based on that deal. McNeil was one of those players who were bigged up a year or so ago and keeps being mentioned as a star by ill informed pundits who've never or rarely seen him play. I never thought he did anything whenever I've seen him
He’s homegrown so you can’t compare, that will always add a premium, he’s also only 22, so younger than Sarr and more chance he can get better, so again you can’t compare.
Possibly but say Sarr does stay and has a big part in us gaining promotion, you could say he's earned his worth and if we then sold him... Either he's flying and we get £24m for him next July, or he's only worth £15m but then he's got us promotion worth £100m.?
I genuinely worry about LR's blood pressure. He can't genuinely be getting worked up this often by a football forum?
Did well a season or two ago but did struggle last season probably due to Burnley as whole have a tricky season .
That was my first point. Had a couple of decent games two years ago but done basically naff all since. Fair play for Burnley to get that kind of money
McNeil going to Everton for £20mil and I’ve just seen Rennes have signed Rodon on loan with option to buy for €20mil. Both help us value Sarr and Dennis at the £25-30mil range. We’ve made enough to cover the loss of relegation so are no longer desperate to sell them. It’s either pay us what we want or they stay. I don’t think any club will offer what we want at this moment. Not 100% confident they are both staying yet, but I’m more optimistic they stay rather than leave.
We've gone some way to reducing operating costs in line with revenues but not covered the full drop and still have the £50m+ loan to repay. Would be great to keep both this season if we don't get the right offer but then becomes squeeky bum time if we don't get promoted.
I still think the best strategy is to stay at Watford till after the World Cup. Get 8-10 goals under your belt by November, have a good World Cup in front of a global audience and suddenly your suitors open up.
Well we managed to get relegated by a mile with both in the side, they would be a real boost but no guarantee of promotion. Even an optimist would accept there's a chnace we won't go up.
