This is actually a watershed moment for the club, because it marks a new tentacle the Mogul has managed to slither around us, given we've never bunged him a greasy wad in exchange for god-knows-what whilst in the Championship before. Time for a street party.
Works well with the Carpenters so that’s a big plus for me. Vekoun Bayo, crawfish pie and filé gumbo For tonight I'm a gonna see my ma Mogi Bayat…
Just to check, are those comparisons made with relative league strength taken into account, or is it purely their individual performances whatever level they are playing at?
Pros: Looks a good age Has some good goalscoring stats, admittedly at a lower level. Will be a first team contender Has some international caps Cons: A Mogi special (more agent fees) Has not fared so well on these shores Also, it looks like he was at loan to Charleroi so they made it permanent for peanuts and are flogging him off for profit? I wonder what finances have gone into this deal.
I'm basically certain that's wrong. He must be about 6ft 2 minimum, if not 6ft 3. He's near enough the tallest player in the Charleroi side and their tallest other player is down as 6ft 3.5. He also seems basically as tall as the Genk GK below who is down as 6ft3.
Can you please do a comparison of him vs: Keinan Davis Elijah Adebayo Ross Stewart I think it makes sense to be comparing him to those kinds of players, as per my earlier post, considering the standard of the Jupiler Pro League and they're the other kinds of players with similar-ish profiles we might have gotten instead.
Flogging the same player to two different clubs in the space of a month must be a record, even by Bayat family standards Incredible that people are still willing to give Pozzo and his cronies the benefit of the doubt on stuff like this. The whole operation absolutely stinks and should make our fanbase very nervous
Another con: Team culture. I know Edwards has been hired to build a culture but still, it would help if the majority of the squad had something approaching a desire to play for Watford, rather than being shipped here via the Bayat merry-go-round. Hopefully Edwards has already spoken to him, or at least is going to put something in place that enables future signings like this to feel part of something. He does look a good player.
Exactly what they did with Lukebakio. Signed by Charleroi for £2m, flipped to us for £4.5m. Wonder how much Mehdi will make this time...
At least with Lukebakio we went on to make £13/14m profit. Also see Adam has confirmed it. Massive scoop for him.
I think Davis is pretty different, though. Davis offers quality and ball progression in possession, whereas the others are your more typical big man who scores goals from in the box.
This is fairly standard stuff. Club has loan with cheap option to buy. Player’s value appreciates after successful loan. Club activates option in order to benefit from said appreciation and then resells at a higher price. I don’t like Mogi Bayat and how he is involved in our recruitment, but reselling a player after activating a buy option is not particularly irregular.
Given that only three Jupiter league strikers won more aerials per 90 at a higher rate than Bayo either he is more that 6ft or he is remarkable in the air for his height.
Bayo has good athleticism and is very good at the air. I thought he was alright at Celtic when he was given a chance to play. Unfortunately, he was never fit enough to have a run in the team, and he did cause quite a few problems for defenders when he played. I could be a way of the mark, and time will tell, but I can see how he may have the attributes for a Rob Edwards team.
So Bayo and probably Archer to sign on loan. That would boost our options a little to Bayo, Archer, Pedro, Forde and Fletcher (possibly). I think Pedro would be used in the pocket behind the front two, so I still think we need another to come in. Davis, Afobe or Joao would be fine. Would like Saiss on a free from Wolves and he would be my captain too at CB. Maybe the connection with Edwards and Wolves could do us a favour on that one?
Saiss has joined Besiktas, unfortunately. I wonder if Pedro will play as a ten in which case we’ll definitely need two more strikers. If not, I reckon it’ll be just one more in.
Pedro, Bayo, Archer on loan?, Fletcher. Personally think we need another Striker unless we plan on converting the likes of Kalu as a striker.
Can't really say I'm shocked. Don't believe I've ever seen him play before. Hopefully it will be more Dennis esq than Oulare.
I have to say, looking at the replies/quote tweets from Charleroi fans they are furious with the Bayats. Understandable but clearly they are gutted to see Bayo leave which can only be a good sign.
